Male only conscription is not ideal (females have 2 years of experience over their male friends if they came from the same batch of experience, severely affecting job prospects). They use a rotan (long wooden stick) and they have to be certified to do it in school or in the prisons. Usually it's just a few (very painful) strokes too. Like there were 2 guys in my school who were throwing bricks at our nearby highway and they each got 4-5 strokes (I don't rmb exact number)

There is a limit. If a judge deems it too harsh (beating someone for literring or anything small like that) is punishable by law. Schools and parents are generally quite lenient with caningds for fear of the law. It's still unfair in most cases but it's not as bad as just flat out abuse

I'm not agreeing but the logic they have is that since men are biologically stronger they can defend themselves better im not agreeing or saying it's right, just some perspective on things.
