Saw this floating around Facebook as being funny, but the stigma bothers me too muchUm can anyone tell me where "men" is used in this poster? Because literally everyone on here is complaining that it calls out men as rapists, but it never mentions men. Not once. It's calling out RAPISTS. | /r/MensRights | 16/01/12 01:16 PM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?Thanks, you too. | /r/MensRights | 13/07/11 10:34 AM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?Personally I think "blacks" as a noun is insensitive. Most people I have met prefer "Black people" or "African American" (which, for the most part, does not mean African person in America, it means American who is of African descent. But, of course, it's very subjective, which is why I think more people prefer "black person" or even the more general "person of color (poc)") | /r/MensRights | 13/07/11 10:03 AM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?Exactly my point. A PRIVILEGE is not PRIVILEGE. They are different terms, use them separately. Read about privilege and understand it before you use it. | /r/MensRights | 13/07/11 08:01 AM
| -1 | Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?I didn't "just say" that, did I. I made a valid point. So you're suggestion is invalid. | /r/MensRights | 13/07/11 12:01 AM |
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?Well reasoned assumption? I'm glad you're a racist, too. So you're condoning stereotyping that's "supported by facts." Well then. Do you go to her school? Do you know how many people of color at her school are there because of AA? Are any? Do you have any idea? No. So you don't even have the "facts" you claim these people might. Even then, I guess I could say you're a rapist, because of statistics telling me most men rape. Right? Isn't that what this subreddit is trying to stop? | /r/MensRights | 13/07/11 12:00 AM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?Privilege seems to be a word too big for you, too. Have privileges does not mean have privilege. Why don't you take a look at rape culture and tell me women have privilege. | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 11:56 PM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?Never said black americans were privileged. Where did I say that? Privilege is too complicated a word for you to use, it seems. So stop. STOP SAYING BLACKS | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 11:54 PM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?you are talking about politics and policies pushed by large, corrupt organizations, and the people they have used rhetoric to gather. NOT THE COLLECTION OF IDEAS AS A WHOLE. sit down. | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 11:52 PM
| -1 | Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?you do it again, you claim that large numbers = consensus. hello, it doesn't. just because a large number of people (represented people) agree on something, doesn't make it a "core tenet" | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 11:51 PM |
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?never said i wasn't | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 11:50 PM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?lol you make no sense. 1. I never said "mainstream" feminism is fluid., I said feminism is fluid. 2. Saying something is fluid means you cannot categorize it by one group's standpoints. So saying neither fringe feminism or mainstream feminism describes the feminism makes sense. Sorry, you're an idiot. 3. Glad you made an ableist remark about mental health. Keep it up, champ. | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 11:50 PM
| -2 | Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?ugh. why does nobody understand that mainstream feminist politics ISNT FEMINISM. I AM NOT A MAINSTREAM FEMINIST. And neither are you. But you are a feminist. Deny that and deny everything you claimed to have written in your books. Feminism is NOT what organizations that claim to be feminist ARE DOING. Feminism is NOT what you hear on the liberal news you talk about. READ ABOUT THIRD WAVE FEMINISM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third-wave_feminism | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 11:45 PM |
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?I'm pretty sure we don't use the word "blacks." Also, how can you say women are privileged? That's a huge claim. What about black women. Or queer black women. Or queer black women in the lower class. I'm assuming you meant straight, middle class white women. And even then, no. | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 01:51 PM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?What do you think is more damaging; the personal hurt done to you by the horrible racists who will assume you only got in because of AA, or the fact that very few black americans achieve higher education because of institutionalized racism? I'm sorry that people assume that about you, I truly and wholeheartedly am. And as a person of color I sympathize. But how does justify an argument that AA is doing harm? | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 01:41 PM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?ugh i can't. if you honestly are arguing that the "core" tenet of feminism ISNT equality, you're caught up in the propaganda machine that is politics and media representation. not gonna bother with you. | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 07:33 AM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?Don't talk about postmodernism (which has no hyphen, btw) if you don't really know much about it. I'm not, because I admit I don't know a lot about it, even though I've studied quite a bit. I don't understand the contradiction you are implying. No they aren't representative of Feminism, not any more than the mainstream movement is. All I'm arguing is that when you say "feminists believe..." with regards to anything other than "females deserve the same rights as men" (and obviously other very clo… | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 07:29 AM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?never called myself one. but what are you claiming to be the CORE TENETS of the mainstream feminist movement? first of all you yourself said "mainstream," which acknowledges that it is the part of the movement that is most widely accessible, but is by no means something you can call the movement itself. mainstream feminists are not all feminists. but that is besides the point. do you really believe that "female privilege is benevolent sexism and therefore wrong, but female quotas and female-only… | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 05:27 AM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?lol so you answered your own question. since when does (what you call) "fringe" mean "nonexistent." | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 04:55 AM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?oh wow this is what i was waiting for to justify why this subreddit is only going to further discrimination. so there's racism, too! yay! | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 03:45 AM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?Sorry, but Republicanism isn't (nearly) the same thing as the Republican party, and therefore your point is invalid. Sorry you don't know anything about government. Sorry but you can't decide when something is a "tenet" and when something is a belief of a certain group of individuals. Sorry you can't tell the difference between a movement and a collection of varied movements. | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 03:35 AM
Feminists say female privilege is really benevolent sexism, and claim they are against it. Then why do they support female quotas, female-only scholarships, etc.?Except Feminism ISN't an organization. It is a WILDLY FLUID collection of THEORIES and OPINIONS. There is no FEMINISM ORGANIZATION. There are only organizations that subscribe to feminism. The republican party IS an organization, making your comparison completely invalid. You are using the word feminist to describe people following groups (and we all know when you say feminist you are picturing a certain type of person and are just trying to justify your sexism) that you arbitrarily come across … | /r/MensRights | 12/07/11 02:15 AM
