My mom got married to my dad when he was 20 and she was 19. From what they've told me they loved each other very much, they're still together but it's solely due to my mom being a saint. My dad has a short temper and, like you described, freaks out over the littlest things and somehow it ends up being my mom's fault or he'll become negative towards her for no reason. I talked to her about it and she told me if she could go back she's not sure she'd marry my dad. Take her advice to her past self …

Thank you for this, I will think on much of it.

That's the thing I'm warry about, I have talked to him about it, on multiple occasions, and while we're coolheaded. He is sorry that it hurts me but he insists that asking me questions is what he needs. Kind of a "sorry you feel that way but I can't do much about it". He says he believes one day it will pass but that he'll always be worried, which I see as him admitting he'll never really trust me.

I'm not trying to win a fight, I'm just trying to figure out how to make him see my side so he doesn't have to feel as badly about it. We both know that both of us are wrong, neither thinks we're right in what we've done. I think it's absolutely ridiculous to avoid fighting altogether. That's how you end up with two people silently suffering because neither one of them want to speak up and cause waves. Trust me, I was in a relationship where we never fought, he was all sunshine and rainbows and …

I guess my question is: Is it worth it to have a man that loves me so much, but doesn't always treat me as such? It's one thing to be loved but it's another to feel it.

I am able to admit that I did only care that I was being treated poorly and not his feelings initially but I believe I have come around and tried to understand the hurt he felt and feels about it. Problem is he's still in the caring about he was treated phase and has trouble caring about my feelings from him bring it up all the time. But when we're not arguing we're quite the team, we laugh and talk and make each other better.

He used my thumb print while I was sleeping, went through my phone, and found a conversation I had about it with my friend. I didn't tell him (though I should have) I didn't plan on telling him but he asked if I had been with anyone since we'd been talking and I was honest, but I was heavily intoxicated when he asked and he didn't ask any questions after that so I thought he just wanted to know but he just wanted to know so he could go through my phone and see for himself

Sorry if this wasn't your intent but this has made me realize that some of my fears may be valid. I always questioned if he was testing me or needing me to do things to prove my love. I don't think he has consciously but he has subconsciously. Getting overly upset when I don't want sex, can't hang out, etc. He even goes as far as to act withdrawn and unloving when I say I can't come over so that I then have to go to try and make the peace again or feel guilty for having interests. I've tried to …

A note to your edit, He was still in a year long relationship when we went out and didnt break it off for 3 weeks after that. I did not know about her until after he broke things off. But he thinks it's different because he didn't sleep with her during that time and he wasn't really IN the relationship for a while. (He cheated on her halfway through their relationship because he didn't really want to be with her but she wanted to be with him so he stuck it out for a year). Bad judgement on his p…

He's explained his train of thought in that department and it's quite similar to what you've said. I guess it's hard for me because I know for a fact I'll be there for him through thick and thin, but him thinking that's my character and calling me names and saying that I'll probably go off and do it again, it feels like an insult to the effort I've put in to making him feel loved and cherished

I hope so, I've tried to explain to him that I thought exclusivity was something to be agreed upon. He believes it shouldn't have to be. But even so, if I knew he wanted to be exclusive I never ever would have slept with someone else. Truthfully I didn't see our relationship going anywhere so I wasn't worried about discussing exclusivity and that proved to be our downfall.

Thank you for this, he is a very good man. I suppose it's been hard since I've always been the goody two shoes and never done anything wrong, and I do consider myself a good person, but I did something wrong and I never learned how to deal with that and someone being harsh. I think I'll stick it out until we can properly trust each other. I don't have social media (other than reddit) and I haven't seen much of my high school bestfriend (only straight male friend) since we started dating either. …

I'm not trying to demonize him, in his eyes I cheated on him and I see it from his perspective now and he's got a right to be upset. It was 2 weeks after our first date, we hadn't made things official and I slept with someone else. I regret my actions, they were selfish and ignorant. I guess I found it not relevant to go into those details since there's a lot to the story and it doesn't change the fact that he has hurt me enough for my body and mind to flinch when he's upset about anything. I wi…
