1	Women got the vote later, but... The United States, and I was being generous. Voting stopped being tied to land ownership in 1850 and women got the right to vote in 1920 so if we’re being technical it’s 70 years. Women did not “own countries”, queens and other female monarchs have existed but all with in a male dominated power structure and most of those counties operate on male primogeniture (meaning except for extremely rare cases men inherit titles/land). Let’s say you’re right and the “average man” wasn’t actively oppressing anyone, but did mean that he wasn’t benefiting from or participating in a system that oppressed women? That’s how systemic power works. You don’t have to be the one writing the laws to benefit from them. That’s one example of an incredibly consistent historical pattern where women’s suffrage and enfranchisement have lagged behind men’s (with arguably less than 10 exceptions to this) but if you have evidence that contradicts it and suggests otherwise by all means please share. You said there are “160+ countries” and implied that some may have given women the vote before men — so again, which ones? Australia’s a great example, but not for the point you’re making. Women gained federal voting rights in 1902, but men (including working-class men) had been voting since the 1850s–1890s, depending on the state. Most white men had the vote by the 1830s, once property requirements were dropped. Black men (on paper) got it in 1870 with the 15th Amendment. Women didn’t get it until 1920. That’s not a “short time” — it’s nearly a century gap for white women, and longer for many women of color. Just the facts: Voting stopped being tied to land ownership in the Jacksonian era (early to mid 1800’s), the last state to eliminate property requirements for white men did so in 1856. Women gained the right to vote till about 1928-1929. One groups oppression or disenfranchisement doesn’t disqualify or minimize another groups oppression.
