LonelinessThe shock of change and disconnection that follows separation is hard. Grieving the loss of the future you will no longer have is harder still. Constructively moving forward is more challenging than both given the available seductive and destructive choices out there. I was married for 25 years. She and I together created a good life for our family but I lost myself a bit along the way. Things didn’t end due to anything outrageous but the differences were stark and the long term damage we did to… | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/05/26 01:36 PM
LonelinessYeah man, it really does. That’s not to say every thing will be great. I found myself creating new routines without realizing it right away. When I did, I noticed that the loneliness morphed into solitude. And that’s when the real education happens. Hang in there. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/05/26 04:24 AM
Trying to put myself out there.I get it, brother. I was out with a buddy a few weeks ago and we ran into a rather talkative younger woman. She was above average and very handsy with me, all because I made the mistake of listening to her for 5 minutes and intelligently replying. She told me about everything… her felony rap, banging the guy she sublets from to get her current place … it was there for the taking yet I had no hesitation about telling her good night. She bordered on unhinged. I need that like I need to get remarri… | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/05/26 04:02 AM
When did you guys know it was time for a divorceI’m the one who filed and left after I realized nothing I said or did was going to make a difference ever again | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/03/26 02:02 PM
My Divorce was finalized today.I already know I won’t be feeling any joy or relief. The whole thing just sucks. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/01/26 12:33 AM
Wife started calling me "weak" and talking about divorce after I had a rough couple of days this weekYour instincts are serving you well. It hurts for sure but that doesn’t make them any less true or right. She’s not the partner for you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/12/25 03:25 AM

For those of you men who remarried: How long did it take you to be ready to date again? Where did you meet your new spouse?I’m right there with you. Apps seem daunting and not worth the trouble. No effin way I’m ever getting remarried though | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/12/25 11:01 PM
Happy Sunday fellas, what are you guys looking forward to this week?Brother - I have a friend that speaks like this. And like him, you do have something. No matter how small it may be, it’s there. Take heart. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/12/25 08:04 PM
Men who initiated divorce after a long relationshipI’m in the middle of my divorce that I initiated. Married 25 years. I haven’t enjoyed a moment. It’s painful. But it had died on the vine and I didn’t realize it until I did. No running around, stepping out or b.s. like that. Just a stunning realization that the best thing to do was let go. The vivid clarity of that understanding hardly makes it easier. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/12/25 02:01 AM
Not doing so great with my first dating experience post separationYour self confessed doubt and confusion says it all. I don’t have any post-separation / filing dating experience to draw upon but new relationship drama / uncertainty sounds like added unnecessary stress | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/12/25 11:28 PM
Lost in My DivorceI’m one year in and have good and bad days. I’ve accepted this will be my reality for some time. I was married 25 years. There is no silver bullet way to make it easier. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/12/25 03:00 PM
Renting after divorceRight there with you. Don’t know if you can go it alone but if you’re not sure go Airbnb or Furnished Finders to get something short term and give yourself some time to process and evaluate beforehand committing to a lease | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/12/25 01:05 AM
Happy fucking Thanksgiving.Sorry brother. Hang in there. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/11/25 09:21 PM
My thoughts on Walk Away WivesKudos to the OP. My stbx fit this description to a tee. I would point out her emotional immaturity during our arguments and she would seethe. Never wanted to work on it. Add in her BFF - was the most miserable person ever and loathed her husband- Even my stbx’s other friends stopped hanging around with her. Yet, my stbx couldn’t get enough. I know my part in the mess that my personal life is in but sometimes the hardest part is looking back and seeing how clearly effed we were. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/11/25 02:21 AM
Holidays aloneBe strong brother. My situation isn’t as dire (will see at least one of my kids) but the solitude during holidays is hard. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/11/25 01:48 AM
In FlightYes please elaborate. It’s probably not realistic for me because I’m successfully self employed but I’d love to hear details as I’m nearly 52 yo | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/06/25 01:14 AM

AcupunctureI ran for years and had an acupuncturist for IT band and other injuries. Always liked it and it worked. Considering it for MH purposes is intriguing. Thanks for sharing | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/04/25 02:12 AM
Loneliness feels different nowI’m going through it now too. One thing I started doing was talking to myself out loud when the mind begins to race. I say mantra like things and the like but I realized just thinking them wasn’t as effective. It helps for a bit. I haven’t gotten over the loneliness either but you start to become a little more at peace with it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/04/25 09:14 PM
There's hope guysAmen brother | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/04/25 09:48 PM
Struggling to processThe rawness of it all is hard to process. Knowing she moved on before you could absorb it is jarring to say the least. I echo what everyone else has shared brother. My best to you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/04/25 11:13 PM
Opinions on counselingNot a silver bullet but can be productive. I don’t totally click with mine but he offered some perspective and suggestions I wouldn’t have normally embraced on my own. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/04/25 10:57 PM
Checking in on everyoneI’m 3+ months in to the beginning of the end. I got scuba certified. Gave me purpose and renewal. I’m not in a bitter situation but it’s still hard. But I agree . It does get better. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/04/25 02:00 AM
Reduce net worthI was told (US based) to load as much money as I could into 529s (education investment funds) . Not sure you have those though | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/04/25 04:05 AM
Can't live anymoreHey brother. The depths of despair and loneliness can take the best of us to the worst places. I'm still going through it after a rough couple of months but it does get better, albeit slowly. Get your own place if you can. Stay busy. Do the things you always wanted to do but never could for whatever reason. Exercise is more important for your mind than body in these situations. Seek out your closest friends and family. Talk to a therapist. There is no magic pill or formula. You've made it this f… | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/04/25 03:02 PM
Amicable divorce after 22 year marriage with 3 kids - serious question…About to do this but photos / letters can be digitized / scanned etc if you can’t agree on who gets originals | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/03/25 02:05 AM
How to divide assetsI’m on the threshold of these conversations too and I’m being advised judges won’t scrutinize anything too closely if there is agreement/consent between the parties in all respects. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/01/25 02:57 AM
Stbx wife told me our child was attacked by her bf's dog while she was at his houseHope your child is ok. If a personal injury claim / lawsuit gets off the ground, you should be the parent steering that legal ship, not her. The negligent party is too close to your STBX and is arguably conflicted out of representing your child’s interest in a legal matter. If, however, she drops him like a bad habit, then that may change things. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/12/24 08:48 PM

My brother in laws divorce settlementAt my recent divorce consultation, my attorney eagerly agreed that buying out future obligations upfront can be a win in tangible and intangible ways, assuming it is affordable. He has no obligations to her. While the math is a huge factor, there must have been upside to cutting the strings. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/12/24 12:19 AM
