The weapons are loaded depending on the situation. If there is a heightened need for security, then yes, they carry a live magazine that is not loaded unless itnis required. But during normal days, they carry empty magazines. Those bayonets however, are very real.

I'm Navy, so I'm not sure about the USMC CoC. But have to tried pulling your LPO, or whoever your supervisor is aside and talking to him? Or if you want to try to keep it under wraps, maybe the chaplain or doc? Sometimes, just talking to someone helps.

As far as I'm concerned, male or female, if I find myself threatened, I will do whatever is necessary, following the rules of Deadly Force. (Yes, using your body as a weapon can fall under Deadly Force since hitting the wrong spot can lead to serious or deadly bodily harm). I will walk away if I am given the chance in a effort to avoid confrontation, but the moment any physical force is used against me, I respond in kind.
