I agree that this women sounds unstable at best, but I don't like some of Bill's comments. "I could sit around for 20 years trying to come up with the perfect paragraph to show how insanely jealous and psychotic women are." "You know what women are? They're basically adult children." He's not talking about feminists here, or just this one woman in particular- he's talking about all women. That's sexist, and not appropriate here.

Yes, I'd rather have someone ask me to my face than behind my back. But more than either of those, I'd want them to trust me. It's not realistic to assume that you can't trust anyone- it's pessimistic.

Not because I would think it would come back negative. Because it would mean she thinks I may have been sleeping around. I wouldn't want a significant other reading through all my text messages either. There's nothing incriminating, but I would be offended that she would think I might be up to something.

You're right, he/she said they do. To the point about statistics- people aren't statistics. If you told me that 50% of all lefties are violent, and I had known a very peaceful leftie for years, I wouldn't all of a sudden be afraid of him. I would use the information I knew about him to judge him, not statistics.

Of course, that's a lot of money and a lot of responsibility to take on. But when someone says "you've never given me a reason not to trust you, but I still think you may have betrayed me," it speaks more to the character/past of the accuser than the accused. There may be reasons to mistrust the mother in this story, but she hasn't provided any so I can't assume there are. Just taking the story at face value.

I've never been married so I can't speak from first hand experience. But I would guess that a majority of relationships that suffer from infidelity have some underlying issue at hand. If I knew mine didn't, I wouldn't think that the same 50% rule applies. I wish you had shown me that page then :) Sounds like a very unhealthy relationship. If it's true that he was not even accused at all of being the aggressor in this situation, that's a serious violation of justice. I'd sue. That's an interesting predicament because I would say that the legislation is indicative of bad stereotypes of both genders. Both that men are violent and abusive, and that women are weak and victims.

From your earlier comment, it sounds like you believe that the promotion of men's rights and the refusal of feminists need to happen simultaneously. (Correct me if I misunderstood.) That's not what seems to be happening though, at least in this very small microcosm. Pulling down feminists seems to be the first task, and then promoting men's rights seems to be the second.

I hear you. Like you, I believe that men's rights are a valid and worthwhile cause. But this subreddit is really cheapening itself by fighting so hard to villanize feminists. It makes people look like they are spewing hate rather than trying to promote something positive. There's also a definite gang mentality, like there is on any subreddit when it comes to voting. I try not to take it too personally :)

It seems weird that the husband wouldn't just trust his wife when they haven't had any issues with infidelity. They've obviously built up trust if they decided to get married, but he's not acting like he trusts her at all. If she had cheated on him, this would be a different story. The message of men's rights gets drowned out in the discussion about the evils of feminists. Say there's a presidential debate between Candidate A and Candidate B. If Candidate A bases most of his stance on how bad Candidate B is, potential voters aren't going to watch the debate and think about how amazing Candidate A is. They're just going to think about how awful Candidate B is. It feels like a missed opportunity to discuss the actual, valid issues.

It's unfair to, in this specific case, take something like poll data and try to make it work for your story. There are always people who will answer untruthfully, but it's safe to assume that there will be the same amount of people doing it on either side on an issue like this. For instance, maybe a person really does believe in women's rights but is afraid it will make them look like a feminist, so they lie on the poll.

That's the argument though, isn't it? When you say that men get 63% longer prison terms for the same crime, you really mean that they get 63% longer prison terms than women for the same crime. I agree that it shouldn't a fight over who has it worse, but rather a push for everyone to have the same rights.
