What was I found lying about? And of course male-advoaccy groups are allowed to talk about it. My issues is how it's being framed as a gender-based issue when it's actually a class issue. I have the same critique of a lot of liberal feminist framing. Framing things that are class issues as solely gender issues hurts our ability to actually have a chance at changing society for the better for men (and women).

Thanks! But I want to pushback. The title of my newsletter is pointing to what men have lost in capitalist society. My goal is to help men (and myself) reclaim what has been taken from us. I used the maga phrasing to be catchy and to also be in direct confrontation to the maga movement. I’m not trying to make men do anything. And I’m also definitely not a liberal. I know, right? Here's the thing IMO, misandry and misogyny are not equivalent. Both exist as ideas in individual people's heads, and both are harmful. But misogyny plays a structural function in capitalism, while misandry doesn't. Misogyny plays a role in allowing capital to steal reproductive labor (care work, parenting, etc.) that is disproportionately done by women (though that is changing). This is an issue with wage labor under capitalism, not a gender issue. This kind of identitarian framing as a reaction to liberal feminist identitarianism is not going to get us closer to a society where workers (regardless of gender) have more power over their working conditions and don't die of silicosis. Just like liberal feminism, it drives us further apart. We need solidarity, not identity politics.

It helps me to remember that feminism is not a monolith. Like any movement, it is contested, up for grabs, constantly shifting. There are different feminisms, and different groups of feminists have for decades and currently still are arguing for and trying to shape society with their version of it. Thanks for this response. I do think men's reactions to hurtful rhetoric are valid. I just think we should be discussing with each other in men's groups and among friends, so we're not getting defensive and hateful back to women, because again they are likely on our team against the people with real material power in society, the billionaires.
