Yeah, I haven’t been to the house since February and we haven’t spoken since April. I feel I’ll be better off in the long run. I started hating it after we filed. So glad it’s in the past now.

To be clear tho, some states are no fault divorce. I had about 20 hrs of audio of my ex being a nutjob and I was told it was immaterial unless a crime was committed.

It’s all good. Just didn’t want someone to read it and think they couldn’t record if they’re in NJ is all.

Welcome to the world of frequent lies. You can’t trust anything anymore. Especially when they say they are telling the truth.

So the QDRO involved 401k funds. The QDRO requires a judge to sign off on it for the funds to not be taxed. This means it won’t get signed until the divorce is finalized. This is happening to me. I was half cash half QDRO. I signed the quitclaim after I got all the cash. The QDRO funds are part of the divorce decree. They have 60 days after the divorce is finalized to remit the funds. If they don’t, they void the divorce order and at that point negotiations could begin again.

I’m literally going through this right now. Exact same circumstances. Been to the hospital twice in the last two weeks. Never felt this bad before. They’ve been with someone else for over a year and there’s just no way to reconcile. I have no idea what to do with myself now.

Archived everything the ex was in and then blocked them.

Depends on the state but retirement contributions after the date of marriage could be split 50/50. I know it was in my case.

Weird. I’m the exact opposite. In fact, I have an agreement with everyone that we won’t discuss it unless I mention it first.

I’ve gone through it. Happy to listen and offer advice. Together 15 years, married 10, owned our house for 8. Our negotiations started pretty rocky. He had all the cash money and put up most of the down payment on our house, so he started off saying I should get nothing even though I paid into the mortgage and paid for upgrades with inheritance. I also was going to law school and knew how the law worked in our state. Showed him what a judge could possibly award me ($300k was half of our combined…

I mean, prepare to get your own interrogatories from your super-pissed ex now. A lot of interrogatories in a divorce are standard, like debt, income, savings/retirement balances, assets, etc.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
