A lot of vocal feminists. ... generic MRA rant against feminists Right, right. The enemy.

There is a problem in society of thinking women can do no wrong Who thinks this? Seriously, who?

That's not the crazy answer I was expecting. I see now that you're one of the so-called sane MRAs. I like that you punctuate every point with "but women are awful too!" so you don't get downvotes from the people around here. I was expecting a crazy answer because anyone who can respond seriously to a post that talks about the MARKET VALUE OF VAGINA has to have a screw loose somewhere. What are you, occasionally mental or what?

Because masturbating about underage children is really one of the tenets of feminist belief, right? If ever anyone needed proof that people in this subreddit substitute the word "women" for "feminists" whenever they need to deflect accusations of misogyny, this comment right here is dream.

This absurd belief that society at large views women as infallible creatures who can do no wrong is an out and out illusion. Every day the newspapers feature stories of women criminals, abusers, paedophiles. Everyone knows women are just as capable of wrong-doing as men. Everyone. When people click on this subreddit, a subreddit ostensibly about rights for men, and see post after post of whinging and whining about women being bad, they're going to see it as the ineffectual grumbling of bitter lo…

You get a few nasty messages on the internet. We get a government-enabled social movement of psychotic people trying to snuff us out. Oh! Poor, poor you! Jesus christ. Is that what you really believe?

I came over here because I noticed a large number of r/srs posts have been downvoted heavily today and guessed that it had been crossposted here. Seems my instincts were right. It isn't a feminist subreddit. Racism, for instance, features prominently in that subreddit. It's a reddit for posting objectionable things the hivemind goes along with. Racism, misogyny, you name it. Misandry too, if you care to submit some. And very little downvoting takes places from the links there. I'd be very carefu…

How can you possibly say that when this is the top comment: It really is a double standard and in more ways than one. Women are simply socially taught to feel entitled when it comes to men/dating(or even to look down on men/dating) and it stems entirely from this social female privilege that women are given. This isn't nature, it is women been socialized, indoctrinated and groomed into these narcissistic attitudes(and that's not even going into the topic of marriage/children or even the generall…

The issues you mention are important and all, but for fucks sake pick your battles. This is not an example of female-on-male domestic abuse. This is not an example of women having a free pass to hit men. This is not an issue you can use to beat the mensrights drum of eternal persecution. That many men would react the exact same way should be evidence enough of that. This is someone retaliating against assault. By choosing this incident you are defending the indefensible. You are finding sympathy…

Do whatever you feel is necessary. That's the point of all this. The moment anyone gets physical, all bets are off. The instigator of an assault deserves comeuppance, regardless of sex.

I am a man. If another man spits in my face I will kick him in the nuts and I don't give a shit how oppressed you think that makes him. I know exactly how much it hurts, thanks. You're only sore about this because a woman is saying she'd do the same

This is what I'm getting at. The girl was being physically assaulted, she was being spat on multiple times. She retaliated. To think she should retaliate is enitirely natural. A reaction of force is entirely reasonable. You aren't even pissed off about that, though. Your other comment explains it just as well. You're only here to complain about fucking unfair it is that men aren't allowed to beat up women and how women have it so good in society because people get upset when women are hit and bl…

No, I wouldn't bloody well shoot someone for spitting at me. But a punch or a kick seems entirely reasonable to me. Maybe it doesn't to you, but that's your business. The point remains, though, that this is an entirely ridiculous complaint. I can just see it now, a guy who just spat in someone's face writhing on the floor in agony wailing about how unfair it is. Pathetic. Utterly pathetic. But somehow, I don't think proportional response is what's getting people riled up, here. No, girlwriteswha…

Being spit upon is ample grounds for violence to most people. You have no excuse, here. Not one. You're literally complaining about how unfair it is that someone should retaliate for being spat on.

Judge her as a human being, for god's sake. We are not automatons whose every move is dictated by our ideology. She didn't beat her husband because she was a feminist, she beat him because she's an abusive, horrible person. She didn't preside over the hacking of a young girl's phone because she is a feminist, she did it because she has no moral integrity whatsoever and wanted to sell newspapers. She didn't start a name and shame campaign against paedophiles because she is a feminist, she did it …

That Rebakah Brooks is a shitty human being without any sort of integrity whatever is not in dispute. But that she is apparently a feminist is as relevant to the phone hacking scandal as the colour of wood.

This hasn't anything to do with feminism. Andy Coulson, Richard Wallace and Piers Moron and dozens of other editors and higher-ups on Fleet Street are also under suspicion for all this. You think those guys are feminists? The guy who did all of the hacking, Glenn Mulcaire, is having all of his legal fees paid up by News International to stop him from blabbing. It wouldn't surprise me if the people he can name go up much higher than Brooks.

I'm sorry, but I just can't take you seriously. I don't believe any part of your post is sincere. If I'm wrong, then, Wow. Poe's Law strikes again.

People don't dislike it. Patently false. This entire thread is specifically about this subreddit's bad reputation. The rest of your post, about women not having the stones to deal with free speech, is exactly the sort of thing that makes this place hated. If you can't see it, then there is no hope you at all.

They're quoted because they are things said in the discussion. By whom? Where? Is hate and ridicule not classified as an attack? I see the problem now. I was talking about people's revulsion towards perceived conspiracy theorists and misogynists. That this point should be immediately conflated into a misandrist attack on men for being men is saddening. With regards to the progressiveness of anti-male sentiment, you'd be hard pressed to not Google around for police blotters or op-ed statements wh…

What's the point, though? Who thinks attacking men is progressive? Who says that defending attacks against men is degrading to women? Why are these things in quotes? What does it have to do with what I posted?

Look at the replies in this thread: feminists have successfully lied to the population that women are oppressed and men are privileged / oppressors Feminists hate people who won't get with their program Men obtaining rights is a natural threat to the feminist supremacists in the feminist movement It's like Feminism is the Catholic church, and The MRM is Galileo. These may well all look like perfectly reasonable opinions to you. But to people outside your movement, they do not. To the world at la…

Do you lot ever listen to yourselves? It's not a bloody feminist conspiracy. Good grief. It's an obvious and pretty bloody straightforward consequence of our society's established gender roles. Men are seen as and encouraged to be "providers", and women are made out to be "nurturers" to an equal degree. The legal system reflects that. Break down the social barriers that dictate that men cannot be primary caregivers and the laws will change accordingly.

I think you've missed my point. I'm saying that if the government has a piece of legislation that makes your life worse, then you'd have every right to protest, as these women are doing. That there aren't many organised groups of protests about mens issues is neither here nor there. Honestly, this article has nothing at all to do with mens rights and the only reason it's been posted here is to stimulate impotent rage amongst the woman-hating morons that post here.
/r/MensRights18/05/11 07:42 PM

If their pensionable age is being raised, then of course they're going to protest. What the fuck do you expect them to do? Wouldn't you protest proposals that would make your life worse?

That's an odd view to take. That women are expected to be home-makers and men expected to be bread-winners is pretty much the number one reason why custody arrangements are so one-sided. But it seems in your zeal to pooh-pooh anyone complaining about the wage gap you've constructed an argument for maintaining this awful status quo. Honestly, your comments reads to me as if you're more interested in one-upping women than father's rights.

Just earlier today you were complaining about how trolls give this place a bad name and then you come out with this? How can you even begin to have any credibility with comments like these!

And that's enough for me. I'm going to take a step back. Your anger, your suspicion, your frustration are not helping you, me, mens' rights nor anybody. I think you should lay off angry internet messageboards filled with angry people for a while. You're wallowing and it isn't healthy for you. Go and see a therapist instead.
/r/MensRights07/03/11 08:34 PM

That isn't what makes it hateful. As your original comment doesn't specify how many are guilty of this behaviour, or that it's based on your personal experiences, the implication is that all women do this. As no explanation is given as to why this should be the case, all we're left with is "men do x, women do y", as if sex is the reason itself. It may not be what you meant, but that's what it sounds like.
/r/MensRights07/03/11 07:55 PM

Your insistence that nobody takes female rape seriously, or that nobody believes women can do evil, is an illusion. A competent therapist will take you seriously regardless of circumstance. I suggest you try and overcome your fear of therapy, as it sounds like it could do you some good.
/r/MensRights07/03/11 07:31 PM

Then you really ought to say so. Insulting generalisations passed off as gospel is one of the major reasons people think this subreddit is so bloody hateful.
/r/MensRights07/03/11 07:03 PM

Really? Is this some sort of universal truth? It's certainly an utterly absurd generalisation.

Are you being serious, now? Was she being serious? This seems like a parody of r/mensrights worst fears to be honest. On the off chance this is all for real, do you even want to have kids? You need to start getting some messages across! Your choice of occupation is yours, not hers. You need to let her know this. This all sounds very silly. I hope it works out all right.

You and your girlfriend sound very young. She sounds incredibly naive; as if she hasn't put a lot of thought into her beliefs. When she does, she will see the double-standard. Try and encourage that. And for the love of god, please don't take some of the people here to heart. Already a dozen people are calling her a fucking stupid harpy neo-feminist who will make the sex go bad and guilt you into buying her things and ultimately trick you into getting her pregnant. It doesn't take a genius to fi…

So what are mens rights groups, then? Do you honestly believe the pursuit of rights for men is inherently sexist? Because that's the logical counter-point to what you're arguing here.
/r/MensRights21/01/11 12:40 AM
2

What? Goodness me think about you're saying for a moment. Traditional gender roles of male providers and female nurturers are the very reason the court systems are skewed in favour of women, at least as far as child custody goes. We're expected to be providers so we have to pay for the child's unbringing; women are expected to be nurturers and homemakers and are expected to do upbringing. Even if the man is broke but stable and the woman a terrible mother yet rich, things are likely to go this w…

Quite so. An awful lot of the feminists come from planet Lesboth, whose femdroid scientists have invented misandry mind-waves with which they use to beam hate messages into the brains of our politicians and lawmakers, causing them to enact man-hating laws. They've already taken over the once-peaceful Mars Men and completely wiped out the once-prosperous Moon Men. Earth is the last hold-out of Free Men in this system and if we fall, the Space Feminists will be one step closer to Feminizing the en…

Is anyone here reading the same article I am? It seems that, like the title of this submission, you're all just using it as a jump off point for bashing feminists, even going so far as to discuss the motivations of imaginary people. Get some perspective!

That all may well be, but men are also guilty of many of these things. I don't honestly think it's even a gender issue. It's a society issue. The causes of homophobia do not fall into neat sex-based categories allowing us to apportion blame. I think it's futile to even try to explain things that way. You have to look at the big picture.

are they being shamed and pressured into behaving that way? That's what I was getting at yes, sorry it wasn't clear. if so, by who? By all of us. There are those who consider it "faggy" for straight men to watch a chick flick or to give fashion advice. There are people who are incredulous that straight men are even capable of these things and deliberately seek out gay people because of it. But these are just the extremes. There are many shades of grey when society enforces gender and sexuality n…

Well I learnt a new acronym, so thanks for that. Female attitudes towards gays have an affect, sure, but I don't really see why you're making the distinction that it has to be women's opinions. Many men assume gays are somehow better emotionally-equipped too, and many gays believe it. And in reality, there might well be some truth to it. Not in any sort of genetic way, but there is a clear logic to it if you consider that gay people are probably more likely to reject traditional notions of mascu…

Well he does have a point. There are lots of generalisations in your post. There is too much us vs them in your thinking. The post is "how does homophobia affect straight guys?", not "why are women so homophobic?" Why is that the more interesting question? Why do you presume it's even a valid statement?
