Technically, yes this is true, however, there are situations where it can be rude or inconsiderate to just end the date early. A friend of mine went on a tinder date once to a fair, but he thought the girl was uninteresting. You don't have to leave as soon as you're done with your coffee and it's not pointless if you're in a conversation with someone. It's a pretty normal thing to do, even with friends. A coffee shop is a pretty relaxing environment and it's great for a date during the daytime. It's pretty easy to go do something afterward such as go to a park or get ice cream.
