I have been celibate for a little over a year and a half now and it has been so good for me.

Women friends are the greatest! They are my sisters for life.

I agree, we have to get better at trusting it. My gut feelings have rarely proven to be wrong!

Yep! I agree they are possible but extremely rare! "Sis if you find yourself comparing yourself to his gfs, you’re not his friend. You’re using him for validation and it’s a waste of your time." ^ THAT is a great piece of advice.

Yes! I used to be close and friendly with some guy and I found out he had told people he had sex with me? Then, I slowly began to realize that he would never really listen to me and I would always give him advice but whenever I shared anything about what I had going on he would say things like "who asked".

I wish I knew this before I started college. I went to an all-girl school for seven years so when I finally got to college, I was so naive and innocent about guys and relationships. It is a blessing and a curse. The important thing is now I know though. Have a great day ladies <3

I know too many women with similar experiences. It is such a manipulative thing to do.

Im learning how to get comfortable with answering this question. I am 22 and I have never had a real boyfriend. Sometimes I even wonder what is wrong with me. But the truth is, I want a GENUINE relationship, where I GENUINELY love the man and feel loved by him back in the same way. That is hard to find, especially lately.

This! I feel like we are all told this but until we actually experience it and make the mistakes unfortunately is when the message gets across. I literally had evidence right in front of me that was all I needed to know and still allowed myself to be convinced otherwise and this went on for almost 2 YEARS! I was right about EVERYTHING even before I had the evidence I just KNEW, but I still gave him the benefit of the doubt. Never again! I learned my lesson, and I hope it doesn't happen to any of…

I mean like for example someone on instagram. Currently, there is a guy DMing me on IG, we went to school together but never really saw each other on campus. Not completely random, but not exactly someone I know personally.

Same here. It is sad, but has turned out to be mostly true in my experience. I never understand how some girls say they mostly have male friends because girls are difficult to get a long with. Im sure a few exist, but it seems extremely rare. Every male "friend" I have ever had has done at least one thing that has made me extremely uncomfortable.

I left mine several months ago and I still get little pangs of sadness and of missing him. But then I remember what he did to me and realize I do not miss him, I miss the person I THOUGHT he was. I remember how sad I was during the months I was with him and how crazy I felt when i expressed my concerns to him. You made the right choice sister. It is hard, I completely understand but with time it slowly gets easier. Its better to be alone than in bad company.

What are some of your guidelines or what are your thoughts for men approaching you via DMs?

I used to take two trains and a bus to see him after work IN THE SUMMER to his apartment that SMELLED LIKE DOG AND HAD NO A/C. He wouldn't even pick me up from the bus stop. Also, one time I was crying because I was upset about something he did and HE STARTED LAUGHING. Yeah, never again.

DEFINITELY A BIG RED FLAG! He most likely had another girlfriend probably, this situation happens way too often. Good for you that you blocked him and did not allow him time to manipulate you.

I remember I used to come up with so many excuses for my "first love" who was consistently hurting me, but I always gave him the benefit of the doubt. Then, he made a joke about causing me more mental trauma and thats when I realized he knew exactly what he was doing all along.
