I read the FAQ and the post guidelines, and didn't see anything forbidding it. When I recommend a book I love, I do put an affiliate link. What bothers you about this?

/u/growingstronk gave a good answer. Let me add a few points. The feeling of emptiness isn't the problem, although you may feel like it is. You should use that feeling as a pointer, and as a tool to let parts of you drop away. The feeling of emptiness is useful because as you've probably noticed, you can't accept it and be needy at the same time. Hey, thanks a lot for the thoughtful response. Since it's quite lengthy, I'll address each paragraph individually. For what it's worth, most humans will likely never come close to seeing what emptiness is about, whether they're in the West or the East. I know how that feels. Don't feel bad about temporarily attempting to fill the void. Whatever you do though, don't slip into mindlessness and unconscious actions. Being fully honest to yourself, as deeply as humanly possible, will get you out of there. Challenge reality. Feeling terrible is still a feeling, and it only will consume the parts of you that weren't real to start with.

It's a common misconception that meditation aims to suppress thinking. Monks that aren't delusional do not strive for thoughtlessness, as that would be the equivalent of trying to stop "feeling", "seeing" or "smelling". Sure, certain states can be reached where thinking and other sensory inputs are temporarily absent, but those can't be sustained indefinitely (given you're alive!).

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
