1	YouTuber Lauren Chen explains that column writer isn't as great a catch as she thinks. That's why if I don't watch the video/read the article I don't vote or comment. I have nothing to say on its contents. I did watch this video and she's spot on, if a bit rambling and disorganized at times. I'm 38 and married. But both are symptoms of the greater problem: people in power wielding it without consequence, and those people are the ones dumping champagne on Occupy Wall Street pritestors in 2008. 2	FINESSED. You're falling into the same trap, though: "Caucasian men, generally much older,, hold all the levers of power." That would imply that old white men, generally, hold the power. They don't. His point is that these particular old white men, the 1%, hold power and to say this applies to men generally is to ignore the 99% of men who aren't them. This is his point. 1	FINESSED. I disagree. Women just tend to choose less violent, and this less effective, means. Men are more callous towards violence and so will jump off a cliff, hang, cut, or shoot themselves. It's not seen as "feminine" to shoot yourself in the head. It's messier. It's sudden. It ruins your looks. All things that grate against typical feminine qualities. Obviously this isn't universal. "She denies climate change so this quote is bullshit," like many people say in this thread is conflating two relatively unrelated issues other than they both happen to be held by one "side." 3	Father suicides from continual abuse by courts and ex-wife Tax and other legal benefits. Having an informal relationship (i.e. living together permanently w/o marriage) makes a whole lot of things messy. With a formally recognized, legally binding relationship you get a tax benefit and even without a will your spouse gets all of your stuff when you die, not to mention all of the death benefits by default (e.g. life insurance, etc.).
