When you have a power imbalance, it is not possible to give free will consent. The teacher has power over the student in the area of school. Grades, recommendations, advice and general power over the student's future make it an imbalanced relationship. So why is it called rape when an inmate consensually has sex with a guard? Because there is a care element to it. That trust in care is where people CAN BE taken advantage of, doesn't mean that it happened in this particular case. It does mean that employment terms and written law to protect the vulnerable were breached and should be punished to reflect consistency with these violations, to maintain the trust by the vulnerable in the system.	/r/MensRights	30/04/20 09:51 AM

It's inappropriate because the teacher is in a position of authority over the student.
