i don't care about how other people handle these things. This post was asked about our personal reactions to this hypothetical scenario, not about how we feel about other people handling these things.Plus, why are you arguing with people in the comments? You asked for personal opinions on our personal lives, I gave it. Why argue?

In my personal relationship I would like to be desired both physically and mentally.

That would be definitely not ideal. Definitely prefer it that we're both sexually attracted to eachother.

Hell yeah I would be bothered. I would be equally bothered if he ONLY liked me for my body. I need my partner to be both sexually attracted to me and emotionally attracted to me. I like sex so if we stopped having sex I would count that as a SERIOUS relationship issue.

I agree with this a lot! Especially as somebody who used to drink and quit; trying to find an appropriate replacement ritual for drinking has been a bit tough on my friendships. I'e been wondering why I felt out of place/uncomfortable when I had friends over to my place for board game nights and so on. Then I went to a cottage this weekend where everybody was drinking but me, and I understood - nobody loosens up when I invite them over for a board game night. Because they don't drink (they could…

I'm 24f and I don't drink. I used to binge drink and quit two years ago. I don't think most people are alcoholics. It might seem that way to you because you haven't really drank ever. During my time drinking, I drank a lot, more than most of my friends, and I was chastised for it by my friends. This was during uni, so pretty much everybody drank alcohol fairly often, but the vast majority of people have no problems moderating. Unfortunately for me, I do, so I quit drinking. Best decision ever. M…

idk who you are talking to but I have NEVER heard somebody say that they only want a good man. Everybody I know does clearly articulate what they want, and I've heard my friends look for specific traits like being adventurous, outdoorsy, having similar hobbies, being a hard worker, intelligent. Nobody talks about 'good', it's just assumed, at the base of all of the other cool things. One of my friends recently started dating a guy, I asked her what she liked about him and she talked about how th…

This is a good comment. I probably would have disagreed before I met my bf but he is very skilled at creating the emotional rollercoaster and he's talked about this a lot (specifically the need for balance; nobody likes somebody who always make them feel like crap, but if you have somebody who makes you feel amazing 3/4 of the time and angry the other 1/4, you'll be having fun).

I think this topic has been brought up before and one thing people always say, and i agree with (as a woman), that being "good" is like the most basic personality trait and it's not enough. I assume everybody I meet is good, but if they aren't also interesting, fun, and easy to talk to, i will not want to be friends with them. I actually know quite a few people who I could tell were extremely good but they were so fucking boring I didn't want to spend time with them. What I think about what I wa…

I never understand all of these posts that assume women hate sex. Every woman I know loves sex and wants to fuck her boyfriend and a decent amount of us even have higher libidos than our partners. All of these posts about "women withhold sex/ only men like sex and have to manipulate women into doing it" are so fucking confusing to me because they are opposite of my actual life experience as a woman.

Definitely LTR IMO. A FWB means that person doesn’t set time aside for you, is usually actively looking for another partner or fucking around at the same time, usually that person only wants to meet up and fuck, not do the fun activities you do with friends or partners. I’ve always had vastly better experiences with LTRs. The activities we do are better, the sex is waaay better and more frequent, the emotional support is way better, my boyfriend is cool to be invited to events with my friends (w…

I have 2 friends who are single right now and one of them is very cautious and went fully sexless but chatted with one guy the whole time, she’s now decided that since he was social distancing to the same extent as her, it’s safe and they are going to see each other soon. This was a person she’s hooked up with in the past . My other friend started dating somebody mid quarantine but they met through work and had known each other ore-quarantine and chatted throughout. I would definitely agree that women don't NEED men any more than men need women. That being said I think most straight women enjoy the companionship of a partner and seek out a relationship because they want one. I also think it is more beautiful that people enter into relationships because they want to, not because they have to, so this whole thing seems great to me.

I'm going to use my mom and dad for this, even though I disagree with your premise that "females are never lonely". I think women are frequently lonely but they try harder to put themselves out there so they typically have at least one friend. My mom and dad are very similar personality-wise. My mom has an ok social life; she always has one or two people she does things with and chats with her coworkers a lot. My dad does not have friends, as far as I can tell. He's friendly with his coworkers b…

I definitely agree with the whole idea that women are always taught to self improve but I disagree with the end part where you say men are not taught to self improve. I think both genders are pushed to improve themselves overall. I do think that there is a stronger bias towards improving looks for women, but improving looks is still preached towards men pretty frequently too. My bf and i just had a conversation today about how there's an impossible standard for being muscular pushed by the media…

I would totally do that EXCEPT in the situation of having kids. My boyfriend is not interested in marriage for the reasons stated above; which doesn't bother me since I don't think I want kids at the moment. I personally agree that there are a lot of reasons not to get married legally if kids are not in the picture, but I do want a wedding and a honeymoon and all that. However, if my bf and I wanted kids, I would want to be married. Kids are an extremely permanent investment and I believe one sh…

If you subscribe to TRP or FDS, then yes. Especially if those two date each other. If you r a regular human being with no gender essentialism philosophy, then absolutely not. I guess anecdotal evidence, but me, all of my friends and their partners find that their relationship enhances their life. My bf is my best friend, he understands me more than anybody. Social distancing definitely isn't going to last forever. My guesses are that a)we come up with vaccine, or b) people eventually stop feeling so fearful, start feeling more bored/angry, say fuck it, go outside. People keep dying of coronavirus until herd immunity happens. Obviously A is better but I think there is a good chance that B will happen, especially when country's economies start to crumble and people realize that they might have severe economic issues if they keep staying inside. Pure anecdotal evidence here so take it with a grain of salt, but out of all of my friends and i who are in relationships, the women are really hurting for some social time with their friends and their boyfriends are like totally fine. It’s more like the opposite - it’s a huge turnoff when a guy can’t/won’t do chores. IMO taking responsibility for that stuff is a sign of adulthood and maturity and if somebody just doesn’t do the things that need to be done when they need to be done, are they a responsible adult? Nobody wants to do all the work in the relationship or be responsible for corralling the other person to do their share.

Of course women are able to improve themselves....There are entire self-improvement industries that cater specifically to women. In fact, all of the women I know are constantly doing self improvement, whether that is running marathons, improving rock climbing skills, learning new languages, going to the gym, eating healthy, getting promotions or whatever else. And add on top of that that women's general baseline level of taking care of themselves is typically higher than men's baseline (Most wom…

There’s so much wrong about this post... What I’m getting from this post is: - men want easy sex with a woman who is forever theirs, which they can’t have which makes them angry - women should be angry that their man will always be looking for other women and she will never be special to him. Anybody who has been in a relationship knows that yes, in fact, the two people in the relationship can be fully committed to each other, and can have a healthy sex life. There’s no reason to be mad about po…

All I can say is that I think it’s unfair to tell somebody they have to spend money on you on a date just because you willingly chose to spend money on your own looks... IMO if a person thinks they are only spending money on how they look « for others », they should just stop..:if you feel that badly about spending money on makeup and stuff, then your ideal partner is probably somebody who doesn’t care about makeup.

Absolutely not - guys in relationships are fully off limits and therefore not attractive at all in any real way. Maybe women just feel more casual around guys in relationships because they know that everybody is aware of the boundaries.

I feel like the difference between the human and gorilla is the fact that humans have higher reasoning and make long term decisions. In the human world, if a woman is with a dude and and he loses to another dude (just by being less cool, getting beaten up, whatever), the woman isn’t going to lose all attraction for this guy and go after the new guy. She has history with the old guy, maybe kids, has built a life with him. Nobody in their right mind would throw that away for some random died.

I’m gonna preface this by saying that I don’t think most women find most men revolting, but I’m also going to try to explain why it is normal for a woman to be revolted by some men romantically. And tbh this could be the case for guys as well. If you’re a woman and you meet a guy who’s cool all around but just doesn’t tickle your fancy, you probably put him in the “not sexual” box in your head and then prepare to treat him platonically. For me, once a guy is in the not sexual box I just absolute…

Extremely known. Women love 2 talk about this stuff. Every time somebody goes on a date, has sex, meets somebody, makes eye contact, we talk about it. Girls even tell each other when they do really negative things, like cheat ( 2 of my friends told me they did that). So I would say in general I know most of not all things about my friends sex lives or lack thereof.

First off, being good-looking or tall doesn't help you to survive at all and is pretty much a useless feature - not true. Being taller helps you fight off predators and being good looking usually involves being fit, which again, helps fight off predators and do the hard work of surviving. Also, lots of 'bad looking' traits ARE unhelpful to survival, or at least quality of life. Bad teeth, bad eyes, acne, being too skinny or too fat, and having any physical deformities will all decrease your qual…

Oh I want to add that a hot guy can change a woman’s perception of a career! Before meeting my bf I only knew computer science nerds and I had the opinion that compsci was weird. Having a good career matters in different ways. When I was single I was more interested in guys that had or were going to have a « cool » career, which of course was subjective to me (for me, that was a career that involved travel or politics or science). I imagine later in life women might be more interested in a secure or well paying career. However, career cannot fix a bad personality! That’s not true, based on the media sources I follow. additionally, I fully believed that depp was in the wrong when the story originally broke last year and now I fully support him based on this new evidence. Also, your original point was that the media isn’t talking about it, and the last sentence of you’re comment is attempting to change that to something new now that you’ve been proven wrong.

THe media is not staying silent about Amber Heard. I have heard a lot about this, especially on alternative media like YouTube. Every video I’ve seen about it has been very vocal on the side of Johnny Depp and I mostly watch centrist/left winter media. Honestly, because people get siloed in their bubbles, the only way to resolve this would be a meta analysis of news sources, YouTube and social media.

I think for me the fundamental thing here is personal choice. I know that I, personally, would never consider doing porn for all of the reasons you listed and more. But if another woman wants to do porn, who am I to tell her her choice is wrong for her? There are lots of good choices and lots of bad choices but fundamentally I feel like people are able to make those choices for themselves and I don’t think that freedom should be impeded upon just cause some people wouldn’t make those same choice…

This is the dumbest question on the whole sub. Of course women are attractedto men. Women DO stare at men’s arms. My bf always teases me about how I couldn’t stop looking at his body the first time I met him. Women may also want to stare at men but choose not to due to the fact that many women find staring to be disrespectful.

I personally find it really disgusting when guy who is in a relationship does anything untoward towards another girl, including me. It’s not attractive and I would never ever do anything with somebody that I knew was in a relationship. I’ve before had guys flirt with me while they had a gf and it’s a small confidence boost but that is very outweighed by the disgust i feel towards their actions.

Pain is subjective to the person so just because it would be more painful for YOU doesn’t mean that it feels that way for everybody. The same goes for other things, including crack addicts. There’s a reason some people get clean from their addiction and others don’t - it’s because the pain of being addicted is greater for some people than others, and the pain of getting clean is greater for some people than others. I agree with this to a POINT, but i would not say that an 18 year old's dating pool is ALL MEN. MOst women I know would not be attracted to a man 10 years their senior. I imagine when we get older, bigger age gaps will be more ok, but for an 18 year old, a 30 year old dude is usually really gross. 28 year olds are worlds away. So I think there is a bigger dating pool for an 18 year old woman than an 18 year old guy, but that it's closer to all men under 30 than all men.

I think for me a big part of it is probably from books and movies. The hot male characters are always described as super tall, strong, muscular, and the hot female characters are not always but frequently described as delicate, slender, waiflike, weak etc. I also read way too many harlequin romance books as a teen so the tall muscular masculine man is cemented in my brain as peak attractiveness, and being small and delicate is cemented in my head as peak feminine. Having the relationship talk IS organic, and it is important. A relationship is more important than a friendship and it has stricter boundaries. If you are friends, it is usually fine if you don't see smebody for a while because they are busy, and it's cool if they have lots of other friends. If you stop being friends, it is acceptable not to talk about that and just let it end. In a relationship, that would be insane. Alpha/beta and whether that is attractive is very subjective and on a woman by woman basis. IMO a guy that is « safe » in the negative way is one that is safe (loyal, super into the girl, unlikely to break up) AND boring or unattractive. Thé AND is essential, because in a person who is fun and attractive, safe is actually very very ideal. Who wouldn’t want their dream person to also be very loyal and into them? But safe becomes a bad thing if there are other negative traits, and if the other person has no options and doesn’t respect herself enough to wait until there’s a guy she actual…

I think I definitely agree with this to a point - I did not make my bf wait at all, because I like sex a lot and I couldn't stop thinking about what it would be like with him. That being said, I think that PPD is often too black and white. There is a big big middle ground between "women make men wait because they don't like sex/women only like to fuck when there is an emotional connection". this is really derogatory and honestly I think proves OP's point. Women who enjoy sex don't see sex as "being a cum dumpster". All of my female friends LIKE sex. Many people don't like one night stands (its hard to enjoy sex with a stranger), but it is definitely very normal to enjoy having sex with somebody, even if you are on the first or second date. There is nothing wrong with enjoying sex for the act itself. Like the way you described sex in negative terms just shows that you dont like it.

I think the past said is that men and women are different and the modern (western) world says that men and women are overall the same, minus socialization. So IMO you can’t have a definition of good man or woman that isn’t traditional in some way due to this. I kind of see what you are going for but you defined the parameters too strictly in the OP.

reading this and the comments confused me, because the things that are said to be 'male traits' or 'female traits' COME FROM tradition and social norms in the PAST, so it is impossible IMO to be a 'good woman' that is NOT 'human who is female' or 'traditional woman'. I would assume the same goes for men. If I HAD to take a stab at it, as a girl who has dabbled in feminism, I would say that what a good woman looks like today is: - A good friend (respects boundaries, doesn't gossip or backstab, is…

I can only come from oral, so theoretically if the orgasms were all that mattered I wouldn't want PIV sex with my bf at all. HOWEVER, that is not the case. I still want my bf to fuck me even though I know that part will not lead to an orgasms. It still feels good to have sex without coming from it. Like, the feeling of having the penis inside the vagina feels good, the kissing and touching and hair pulling feels good, having sweaty bf on top of me smells good and feels good, cuddling after feels…

Hi OP - I am in your age bracket and had similar ish experiences? Minus the regular standards, because my standards are definitely too high for my looks. 1) I think that the RP idea is basically that a woman can get sex whenenver she wants. However, when they say that, I don't know if they understand or care what a woman actually wants, which is almost never casual sex with an unattractive stranger. 2) I had a similar ish experience, as in I am average looking, not overweight, and for a long tim…

i don"t think the part about being approached in person or OLD is true. I am OPs age, and lots of people meet people IRL - althought not usually at bars or on the street, usually through friends or at specific activities. My friend met her bf at a rock climbing gym. Another met her bf at work, I met mine when a friend of a friend brought him to my house to hang out, etc. Additionally, most peoplle my age (guys and girls alike), in my area, at least, use tinder but only when desperate and bored. …

The false equivalency in this sub is ASTOUNDING. All of these posts like “if x thing is bad for men, why isn’t y thing bad for women?” And vice versa. So frustrating. porn addiction is bad for EVERYBODY. Social media is bad for EVERYBODY. Women watch porn. Men use social media. The equivalent of men watching porn is women watching porn. The equivalent of women using social media is men using social media. Trying to spin it like “it’s ok for THIS group of people to use something bad but NOT for t…

Porn doesn't have any association with high value or low value IMO. Lots of high value guys watch porn. It doesn't make them low value. Lots of girls watch porn too. Its like drug and alcohol addiction....anybody can fall prey to it, although you are more susceptible if you are not having a fulfilling life.

you are seeing a false equivalency then. What you are basically saying is "If apples are bad for moneys, then why aren't oranges bad for fish?". See? It does not make sense.

This is a false equivalency. The equivalent of a guy jerking it to porn is a girl flicking the bean to porn. The equivalent of a high n count for girls is a high n count for guys. You shouldn't be comparing high n counts to porn, you should be comparing the same thing for either gender.

That’s just a pessimistic way of saying “people want to do it”. It doesn’t change my point. This isn’t a discussion of whether relationships are good or bad, but about why people get into them. People date and get married because they want to and they enjoy it. Whether you think that enjoyment is genuine or not does not change that.

Sure, maybe there’s not as much of a “need” these days (as in, most people can support themselves and have kids without a partner around), but most people get into relationships because it’s enjoyable and pleasant and they want it. You don’t “need” to do things you enjoy, but you do t anyway because it’s fun. Case closed.

Honestly whenever I’ve talked to people who ONLY have failures at a specific thing they say things like “I don’t know what I’m doing wrong”. Maybe I can learn from their failures but they sure haven’t. This is especially evident when somebody keeps going back and doing the same thing. Also, I’m not learning from these people’s ADVICE - I am learning from looking at the fallout. I wouldn’t listen to a single piece of advice they had.

If they had one failed and one successful business, yes. A whole string of failures only suggests lack of knowledge and self awareness.

If somebody had a failed business I wouldn’t go to them for business advice. If somebody failed school I wouldn’t listen to anything they had to say about studying. If somebody had been fired from every job I wouldn’t listen to them about what to do in my career. People go to successful people for advice and wisdom about things they want to achieve, not the people who failed.

I just don’t understand how everybody seems to think that single mothers become single mothers based on ONLY their choice. There are so many other factors - the father also makes a choice (to leave), so that’s at least two parties involved in this decision. Place is also a factor - is abortion available? Is it financially feasible? How is the adoption landscape?. Somebody who lives in an anti-abortion state in the US, for example, I’m not sure if you can fault them for getting pregnant and needi…

Somebody becomes a party girl/guy when drinking/doing drugs becomes part of their personality. You know when you talk to somebody and drinking or drugs comes up within 20 mins and there’s no hint that people might not think that partying is a good thing. Also, people who drink to get drunk, drink at inappropriate times, and who respond to all emotional events with “I need to get drunk/have a joint” etc. Going out and getting hammered more often than not, so I guess every two weeks to every week.

Not really. I don’t think actual men are anything like what the poster described. Which is why I have a boyfriend that I love and appreciate and haven’t gone WGTOW. I don’t think that women are anything like what MGTOW think they are either. That being said, they can make their choices and it’s no skin off my back if they choose not to engage with women.

I would choose that, it wouldn’t be forced. Whether casual sex is better than not having sex is a matter of personal opinion, so mine can be different than yours.

As a woman, if that was how life was, I would probably go WGTOW and lean heavily into my female friendships. A sexless life with close friendship bonds sounds waaay more fulfilling and enjoyable than spending a lot of time trying to make somebody who isn’t interested in me love me....

Or are you just saying "go outside and meet people in a group of friends instead of playing video games"? That's an established good advice, but it's hard to do. First you need a group of friends. Preferably with single women in it. Sure, it's hard to do this...But is it harder to get a group of friends than it is to be single and lonely all the time? Most of the things that bring people happiness are hard and take work. There is no magic fix for anything in life, why would getting laid be inclu…

yikes. I hope this doesn't pass, and it is honestly a bit worrying that they are considering it. Adults should be able to evaluate potential partners for undesirable traits like lying themselves. I don't know if Australia has free speech laws but if they do, this seems like it would violate them.

The only complaint I consistently hear about dating from people I know IRL is that there are less organic ways to meet people, and too much emphasis on OLD. I met my boyfriend organically (through friends), and everybody I know who is dating somebody met them through school, work, friends, hobbies. The friends I have who are single are consistently complaining that they don't know any other single people or none of their friends have single friends, so they can't meet anybody organically and hat…

Honing a (useful) skill = good life advice, maybe not so much dating advice. First of all, it takes way longer. If you tell somebody, 'learn to play the guitar and woo women that way', they are looking at several months to a couple of years before they are good enough to even try going after a girl with it. And then what - bring your guitar everywhere? How do you show off your skill in the places where you might meet a woman? Second of all, as a girl, I have to say that skills definitely provide…

i am 23 and out of the girls I know, the grand majority are not very promiscuous. I would say that most started being sexually active at around 18 and 5 years later have around 5-7 partners. This is not true of everybody, of course, I know girls who haven't had sex or have only had sex with one or two people and I know a couple of girls who are very promiscuous and have had upwards of 30 partners, but most of the people i know fall within the 5-7 range, This is usually because they like to fuck …

I don’t think any of this stuff is bad per say! That being said, my boyfriend told me that when he’s been single he never pays for the first date in order to filter out girls who wouldn’t be into that. I paid for our first date and in our relationship we either take turns paying or go split bills. Im not sure his strategy would work for everybody but it is smart!

I really like a lot of the answers here about feminine traits taken to the extreme. I want to add: - being extremely judgemental of other women (slut shaming, gossiping about their looks/problems etc) - using people (men) for money. I have to say, I have a lot of faith in in humanity and I’m a feminist but I have truly experienced a decent amount of girls that view men as their own personal wallets. I know at least one girl (no longer friends with) who literally stole 20$ from a guys pocket when…
