I answered the hypothetical with a far more common occurrence than some random stranger randomly throwing something at you for no reason because it has a better chance of happening. Cops don't care about self defense in a domestic violence case unless lethal force is involved. They usually take both parties to jail no matter the story. Yes, there is, but you better have a good lawyer if you think what that video showed was self defense. Most states the way the law is if you are attacked you must make a reasonable attempt to flee and contact the police, if you cannot flee use the least amount of force in necessary to be able to flee the attacker. Same deal. No matter if its a male or female, get away from the situation, dont retaliate, if you report it and tell the cop "yeah, I pushed her/him off" they will take that as an assault as well and charge both of you for domestic dispute/assault. I wonder, was there a sign signifying it was a sidewalk and no vehicles were permitted? If not then the people driving on it had every right to drive on it because it looks like a driveway. If they are so hellbent on stopping vehicle traffic, they need to take an hour or two and set some posts on each end of it in the center, a few signs saying no vehicles or place a barricade.
