Have a great night! Petulantly downvoting me is a nice touch ;)

Nah, I’m good. You clearly didn’t absorb the rest of my comment about the real heart of the matter- i.e. the privilege of women being able to relate emotionally and the societal push to deny men that space. My main point was to push back against harmful stereotypes- “men are weak if they express emotion” and “women are irrational”. If you like to call yourself irrational, cool

Summing us up as “emotional and irrational creatures”, cool, thanks. I’ve been open-mindedly reading this sub, but I’m gonna call you out on reducing our gender to hysterical nitwits. Perhaps “more prone to displaying and accepting emotion” or more correctly “privileged in our society to be able to do so when men are frowned upon for any emotionality” (and I think that’s messed up and a damned shame. If you think you are an irrational creature, great. But I sure as hell am not and all of my fema…

I love how reasonable comments get downvoted. True feminism seeks equality between men and women, not domination

When did I ever say that I supported MGM? Hmmm? In fact I clearly stated I was against it. I’ll leave you be, you clearly love to be outraged, and I don’t want to take this little “victory” away from you

God, aren’t you pedantic. Apparently all men should subscribe to abject victim hood.

Retarded? Classy use of language, bro. So, we can agree that there is one form of make circumcision, yes? And that it’s less brutal than 99% of FGM? Dude, I’m not arguing for MGM, but they are not comparable. This is a stupid hill to die over

If you had done any research you would find that the two most common forms of FGM are a clitoridectomy (removing the clitoris, akin to the idea of removing the glans completely) and excision (all of the above with the additional removal of the labia minors). They ARE BOTH WRONG. But FGM results in not a lessening of sensation, but the inability to orgasm ever. Stop spreading misinformation that aids you in your outrage and educate yourself

While I am not supporting male circumcision in any way, you do realize female circumcision results in the excising of the clitoris, which results in an inability to ever feel an orgasm for most women. Additionally, in many cases the vaginal opening is almost completely sewn shut and painfully ripped open upon the women’s deflowering? Not going to argue that male circumcision is right or that it isn’t mutilation, but comparing the two doesn’t really work

Oh fuck, I had to ask several times to get even an IUD. I was asked prior to my tubes finally being tied, "How will your future husband feel about this?" I finally got it done at 35 because the doctor finally decided my choice was "okay". Not to diminish or invalidate your experience, but just want to know why anyone has their reproductive choices questioned. It's bullshit regardless of gender

Don't worry, I've been told to "fuck off and die", I've been told I'm "life support for a cunt", and so many more wonderful things. After my experience here, I VERY much sympathize with men's rights(read sarcasm). Which is sad, because I often pointed out issues of disparity between men and women

So many others here did, most in private messages, a few in comments. So yeah, I'm disgusted. I'll leave this sub well alone and will have a very negative view of it

Y'all is welcome to it, I'm more than out. I've had more horrifying messages sent to me that are personal attacks than I care to read. Men aren't toxic, people are people, but the anonymity of the internet is disgusting. I'll be deleting this post because I don't want to see anymore abject ugliness. I'm sure you all will applause and celebrate another "cunt" leaving your space, and I personally leave trying to avoid becoming overly jaded

Damn, I'm glad a general call for unity between genders (did you notice that I acknowledged the feminist agenda in my post) is an attack

Didn't call it misogynistic, in fact made a point to say that wasn't despite some pretty shitty comments/messages

I'm sorry you feel that way and I wish I wouldn't have reacted to harshly. But that person called me a liar from the second I posted and repeated it several times while saying "fuck you". So yeah, my composure slipped. This was the same time that someone told me to go back to my 17 cats and box of wine. So I had many personal attacks before that

I haven't spent enough, clearly. But please understand that I've been attacked in comments and I'm some private messages for a post that was pretty innocuous. I'm sure 90% of this sub are good people, but that 10% is pretty vile. I apologise if I offended people, but I'm seriously just shocked that we can't all regard each other as human beings worthy of respect

I seriously was trying to start a conversation. I think you reacted the way you did because I am a woman who posted on this sub. Please understand, I'm not accusing you of sexism, but what I said was not combative or accusatory. It's just that I think that there are a lot of generalizations and anger on both sides of the gender gap. I was trying to start an intellectually honest convo. But fuck me for that, amirite?

I've actually had very many real world convos with female friends and posted similar on other web outlets. I think that a lot of what is going on is negative to men, and I am sympathetic. That being said, I am still unwilling to jump to a misogynistic conclusion about this sub, I've never dealt with being told to "go pet my 17 cats and open another box of wine" in other forums. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I've also gotten some "lovely" messages. I just wish people would have a non-e…

Sigh, "toxic focus on the male/female dichotomy" doesn't apply to one gender. Woman can be toxic to men and men can be toxic to women. That's the point. "We" means human beings. Damn, I'm not arguing any of these points, I'm arguing that judgement from either side of gendered concerns is toxic. Fuck, this sub seriously it's knee jerk
/r/MensRights23/04/19 07:12 AM

Wow, I made this comment to try to prove to myself that this sub isn't misogynistic. I still don't think so, I just figure there are a few people who have a lack of grasp on the English language. I never called this sub toxic, I never insulted men, I called for unity among human beings without focusing on any "feminist" agenda. But yeah, I'll go back to my "17 cats and box of wine". Have fun pulling on your less than impressive member in your parents basement

Can you read? I never once called this sub toxic. I just think that men and women can relate to each other's issues without judgement and with empathy. I apologise for trying to bridge the gap, Jesus

I never once called any comment or call this sub toxic. I'm just honestly concerned that these issues are devolving us as a species. Men and women are equal, autonomous beings. Both suffer different issues

"Figured you respond with that, like I said, you're smearing this sub by claiming we believe this when the majority of us don't, please don't talk shit about people unless you've got proof. It's an extremely cowardly and snivelling way of trying to label this sub and the people in it without directly calling everyone out, like calling people 'far right' who you disagree with. If you don't want me to react with 'anger' don't do it. If you hadn't had done this I wouldn't have given a fuck, this is…

I don't want to take that support away, and am aware enough to know that no one can really appreciate another's situation without walking in the their shoes. And of course we can't. But I guess I am concerned about generalization. I've had plenty of terrible situations caused by men and I don't categorise them as a unit. I know the feminist culture is having it's day and I know people are taking it too far. Humanity has a tendency for a pendulum swing- one side is in power, and then the other is…

Your anger is visceral, clearly. I really didn't come here to argue, but instead to posit the idea that men and women can talk through issues without trying to demonize the other. But apparently you want to put me into a category I didn't choose for myself. I won't do the same to you.
/r/MensRights23/04/19 06:36 AM

Wow, that's exactly the viewpoint I am arguing against. I'm saying that women who hate men and men who hate women are equally in the wrong. Seriously, how did I try to "lecture" anyone? I think that both men and women face serious issues, as I've said. But if you want to react with anger, that's your choice

It's perfectly okay to have preferences- I'm a woman who shaves personally. But here's the thing, if you turn down a woman and tell her directly that that's the reason, then of course you will get shit for it. I think that's wrong with most of society, this almost pathological truth that the internet allows. Don't like hairy women? Fine. Don't like short men? Fine. Don't like any number of variables? Fine. But those that directly judge people while turning them down are idiots. Just say, no than…

Here's the thing, I don't discount any of what you are saying, my point is humans (without concern for gender) have suffered for societal roles. Men historically died in combat or imprisonment, and women were often kidnapped and raped. The difference is agency. Again, I think humans are humans, but if we are to get into this subject more generally, men suffered at the hands of other men seeking to conquer

I am by no means blaming this on men, but given biology/strength/testosterone/before being woke, a lot more horrible and century long oppression happened to women. I'm not trying to be antagonistic, but centuries vs a few years ago

You could easily make a similar pyramid for men from a women's point of view. Why are people so prone to anger and dichotomy? I think a truly curious mind realizes that the world isn't so black and white

Wow, I heard about this subreddit and was curious... Your first point that women were never oppressed and that it was simply gender roles at play: Here's the thing, women couldn't vote until the 20th century, women throughout history were forcibly married (and continue to be in some countries), until the last 40 years unmarried women with careers were looked down upon, most victims of sexual violence are women, etc. Here's the thing, I'm a feminist. The legitimate definition of that is a belief …
