Mythology is created, retold, distorted and interpreted by humans. If we try to stay in the scope of what really can be concluded, the stories and artifacts paint quite a diverse picture IMO. I know a little, but I respect your reply. I believed a lot of bullshit about these times from bad history books. I don't want to sound like an expert either, because I am just an interested layman.

I fundamentally oppose your view of early mediaeval viking culture. Have you read anything about Odin or Freyr or even Loki? They represent very "unmanly" (ergi) archetypes. Odin stole "woman magic" (seidr) from Freya, he gave "his sword" for it. Odin is also often represented in contemporary art wearing woman's clothing. So even if the society and culture back then was way more rough and "barbaric", the highest god of the pantheon in modern words is either trans or nonbinary. There are many mor…

Two things can be true at the same time. Some of Petersons ideas are genius, others are very embarrassing. You can take the good and leave the bad, you don't need to associate with Peterson. One can stand for itself.

I know the story of Don Quixote, an overlooked fact of the story imho is the end, when Don Quixote realizes that he was delusional all this time and loses all hope to live. Sancho Pansa tries to re-delude him, but fails miserably. For me the moral of the story is, that even when a fight seems hopeless, if it's righteous and gives you something to live for, it's better than to wither away into nothingness (: I used to be a feminist for over 15 years and felt quite similar to you. And though I am …

I didn't want to accuse or downplay the actions of any individual, it's more of a statistics question on my part. With fighting against windmills, I didn't mean spending energy on fake problems, but fighting a hopeless fight, that seems to have no end. I appreciate you and anyone fighting! Sometimes it just seems a little rough...

What percentage of the female population is a Honey Badger? Do they make a difference or are they fighting against windmills? Don't get me wrong, I sobbed uncontrollably from the interviews in "The Red Pill", but there are just too few of them to make a difference....

It's disgusting honestly. I can only read so much before my blood boils. When I try to educate people around me, they either don't care or counter with "buuuut women have it soooo much worse..." I feel like Don Quichotte fighting windmills. Sometimes I need to distance myself from the topic of male advocacy to not lose my mind. Don't forget, we only have ourselves. Take care of your mental state, guys <3

The women being targeted are public figures. Nearly all public figures receive slander, death threats, vile insults and are being doxxed regularly, irrespective of their sex and gender. This is one of the main reasons, why I would never become a public figure, I can't stand this stress. You trade privacy for fame and/or money. But if it's a woman, that decides to become a politician she needs extra security. Sounds sexist towards women to me.

Are you serious? You know where most rapes happen? In male prisons. The victims are male. Why are men less likely to be targets of sexual assault in captivity? Also what happened to empowerment? If a woman would rather die, than be subjected to sexual assaults or rape, she should learn to fight and defend herself. If not maybe it's better to be alive and traumatised. Why should men always defend everyone?

I've heard about this case before, but reading the article made me tear up. Sebold does not deserve the kind and forgiving words of Mr. Broadwater. She jeopardized finding and prosecuting her real attacker. She willingly forgot he was not the attacker while he rotted on jail. She wrote a book, after he was released, doubling down. Only when he was proven innocent beyond reasonable belief by a court she admitted wrongdoing but saying she was a victim too. I am so fed up with this world...

What now, do you want children or not? You can't have the cake and eat it too. Dont assume ... Where do I know these words from? What exactly evolutionary speaking makes sense about men not liking children? Can you link me scientific papers for your theory? I know of no father that would ever say they don't like children, except people who want a MiniMe. If you love your children to death, you can relate to children of others. I can comment as much as I want, wherever I want, as long as I am not…

You didn't, but context is king. If you find someone in the future to have a family with, maybe you will understand then. If you don't, can you please shut up about it? The rest of the world is not interested in your sermon about how you will save your pet and yourself, because of your possible future children. Wait, you want children, but don't like them? I am honestly afraid for your children.

Very well said. You speak my perspective exactly. Also I'm doubting the narrative of OP. I've seen some comments regarding RvW in the last few days that echoed the same perspective as yours. Those have been misconstrued by OP imho.

I think a lot of left and center advocates for men's problems get labelled right wing because they dare speak out about men's issues. This shuns them from interacting with left circles and over time they become conservative because they interact with conservatives. Only a small minority of public figures endure the labelling, shunning, etc without giving up or starting to drift rightwards. These are notoriously hard to find, especially on social media, because the algorithm hates such advocates,…

I can't follow your thought process. Fighting for your rights needs to have a righteous cause and fair fighting, otherwise the people you won over will despise you. Also at some point the process of fighting becomes a process of legality, where you need to formulate a legally mindful right. If you can't express yourself free from previous trauma, in what way are you better than a raging feminist?

You are lost and a weak man looking up to an even weaker man, who has perfected the "manly man cope". It's tragic, that he is so good in catching aimless people. It hurts men's rights by exactly doing the thing the people opposing them are saying you are going to do. You stoke misandry by being misogynistic. If you want RIGHTS you need to include everyone in the process, especially if it's a near 50/50 split.

This is reddit. If you need legal advice, ask a real lawyer you paid for, don't follow legal advice from here. It also highly depends where you live, so ask one, that has the right credentials for the topic and the country/state you live in.

In my opinion we did. After the bronze age collapse in the form of patriarchal monotheistic religion. Around the collapse genetic data reveals for every man 17 women reproduced. This lead to a huge amount of inequality (just imagine how incel-y it must have been back then). And then some person made monogamous relationships the religious norm to solve that problem of sad and raging men, that just want to not be alone. Now I don't want to qualify if this was and is a net positive for the whole of…

I have a friend who can never work in child care again, because a child ran to hug his legs in the morning, he didn't react in time, so the child was close to his junk while hugging. The parents forbid their child to be cared by him and in the long run he was fired and has a stigma in this community now. I was regularly looked at weirdly when I chaperoned my three nephews and my brother on the playground (I am 5 years older than my oldest nephew). This happened in Europe. It's easy to dismiss ex…

I can't comment on long ago, but I think tinder or okcupid published new data. Women swipe right only on the top 5-20% of available men, whereas men swipe right on the top 50-60% of the available women. It's not that there are only shallow women, it's that those seem to flock to the apps/dating sites, on the male side there are many lonely men flocking to dating apps. This exacerbates the huge disparity.

Hey, I've recently had a very similar break up, though I'm younger, definitely not a made man like you and a shorter relationship. How you describe the differential of input, the emotional differential, the unbelievable change from loves you dearly to living with another man nearly instantly really resonates with what I am still coping with. What I've learned is, that I projected my idea of a good relationship onto her and she went along with it. I never even once tried to analyze her actions, I…

I didn't mean inherently backwards. To be honest I don't know what traditional masculinity is. My father had a completely different concept of traditional masculinity in comparison to pearl, Maghreb traditional masculinity or Chinese traditional masulinity, etc. So I think this word has completely lost meaning, when speaking without knowing anything about culture and family, the person one is talking to, comes from. I like to specify, especially on the Internet, where literally everyone could re…

Interesting, I will read up on that! It's funny, I am only 28 and from Europe and I can see the cultural differences, it's way more normal here to split the bill, especially on the first date. Many of the entitlements of women, that american men are complaining about are less pronounced here. Or at least in the social stratae I'm part of. My parents both flew from the Iron Curtain westwards. My father gave me a way more passionate image of masculinity, I was never afraid to speak of my emotions.…

That's exactly what is happening on this podcast. Maybe this is hyperbole, but I got the feeling, it's single sided female bashing and worshipping the supreme "traditional masculinity". The podcast episode, that broke it for me was this,I included the specific timestamp. I am exploring masulinity, I like to learn, but everything in life needs balance. Calling a man with communication skills "feminine" is the lowest blow possible. That the host is then saying the same, as a woman, is just ridicul…

It's from Just Pearly Things Podcast on youtube. The woman in the gif is genuine, but Pearl, the host, and the podcast should be viewed with skepticism. I've watched for some months, but I realized she is promoting a traditional (meaning backwards) concept of masculinity. I reject that. In my experience there is always a need to go with the times, but this can be achieved without rejecting core parts of my identity, it's called evolution.

I've had some experiences, that may give another perspective. I am bi/pan and I only out myself to people that are close to me. In my experience, if a guy was homophobic, he was openly so. I always knew not to interact, if I didn't want to. Those really hardcore homophobic men always struck me as either OCD about being gay or closeted (from themselves) gay. But I've had multiple instances where women would get close to me and when I started opening up, they were disgusted and even outed me to al…

Are you mental? If a ruler rode into battle, he would have had his bodyguards and veteran troops around him. Usually they would ride out to show themselves to their cannonfodder and fuck off. Do you really believe, people that were exorbitantly more powerful and rich would truly risk their lives in battle? Now, we can talk about late Iron Age culture, but the rulers of those tribal communities can't be called kings. Read some history books, instead of watching badly made "historic" Netflix serie…
