This is a difficult question. For me I was similar in my youth. One of the mindsets that helped me get accomplished in real life is asking myself what my favorite character in a video game would do. He wouldn't game all day or watch tv, he'd go to the gym and study. You can also use this from TV shows. My advice is when he talks about something he adores, see if you can't introduce the idea that he can also do similar things in real life, just like his character. Then, to ensure that he stays on…

No time or no money for gym? Bitch please, do burpees beside your bed until you puke. Sure you're not going to look big and swole, but you'll still be fit, confident, mentally strong, and with low body fat.

In this case the Stoic approach is fantastic. "No matter how many times an emerald hears otherwise, it will not change itself" (Marcus Aurelius, book 7 of mediations) Don't let the others influence you, and don't hold it against them. It's purely out of ignorance/they don't know/can't know any better, that's the extent of their capacity. You do you. Don't wish for what you want, wish for what happens, wish for the reality, and thou shall be serene.

Exactly. There is no such thing as not having enough time. One just prioritizes gym below too many things, useless things very often, such as TV, games, drinking, ECT.

I totally agree. I recently got out of a one month relationship and although I've been a subscriber to the rep pill theory and mindset for many years, I still fell into the blue pill trap that made things fall apart. Furthermore, because I believed I could solve others problems, before I even truly sorted myself out, I wasted lots of time and energy. I'm finally ready to fully swallow the red pill.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
