Yeah, I think if the state is expropriating money for children, and I think this is appropriate in plenty of cases, there should be a trust setup for the child. If a parent was previously committing X amount to the child, that continues getting committed to an independent trust that then commits however much to food, rent, college, etc.

Child support shouldn’t be $100,000 a month if the father is rich. The only part I kinda disagree with. The point of child support is to give the child a life they would have had if they parents hadn't split, as best the state can. If the parent without custody would have contributed $100,000 per month to the child (I know this is an huge exaggeration but we'll go with it) and they don't contribute anything to the child after separation, then they owe that money to the child.
