I mean, I hear you, but to deny that many people have it easier due to luck is just wrong. I'm a hard worker. I often put in 60 hour weeks, salaried. I make a good living. But there are loads of people out there who don't make what I do who work just as hard. I didn't do anything particularly correct; I just got luckier.

Yeah exactly. This isn't just a black and white issue. In a mature relationship, people set boundaries. IMO, it would be inappropriate for someone to try and "fill in the gaps" where I couldn't provide, at least when it comes to giving gifts that otherwise seem disproportional to the dynamic of the platonic relationship.
