I got snipped over a decade ago, got all the kids I want and we both wanted them. They are in high school, so at least that is ONE complication I don't get.

You have to divert your energy elsewhere- Work, kids, gym. Gotta find something while you are wounded or your mind will go back to the dark place.

Not gonna lie, I was thinking about making a post like this before. My STBX became all kinds of freaky after she filed on me. Never cheated or abusive on either side. It has settled down in the past couple of weeks though. It messes with your head yes, but it is a safe lay and a good lay at that. If she threw herself at me I wouldn't say no....for now....

20 years for me, memories of her preggo and super cute and all the nice stuff she used to say to me on FB.

You've been an honorable man for 17+ years; there is inertia in that honor, and that is why you feel guilty, which also happens to be why you are honorable. 20 years married for me, three kids, rings are off and it is noticed. We have done what is right. The guilt is not a switch and it is OK to feel that way. I am confident it will fade. On a side note, I would not mess around until you are legally divorced- rings or no rings. Or keep it very much on the down low.

Too much of anything is bad- the gym, to me, is part of an "all of the above" wellness regime that we need to embrace. Also, "gym" can mean many different things- not just smashing deadlifts but group fitness classes, yoga (which I HIGHLY recommend), swimming etc. Drinking less (which I am struggling with), getting outside, and sleeping are some of the things we need to have in our balanced, long-term portfolio of recovery.

I endorse this 100% It is a great way to ground yourself to realize, take control of, and own your agency. I have said to myself more than a few times, "Marcus Aurelius ......talk to me.."

Thank you for sharing your progress from the dark times to where you are now. These kinds of posts keep guys like me going. I got a text on Nov. 1, "Please don't give up on us," and then on Dec. 3, "Paperwork is ready for you to review." It is good to know the light at the end of the tunnel does not have to be a train. Bravo to you!

It went from "My Hot Wife" to just her first name.

What I am discovering is that I can't think about what could have been with my soon-to-be ex. The mystery of the future can be challenging to cope with, so I am shifting my perspective to view the mystery as an opportunity. This new opportunity now depends solely on the choices I make. After being married for twenty years, it's a helluva shift, but I am working on it.

I find this sub constructive and forward-thinking. It's not overly critical, but not rainbows and butterflies, either. Bravo lads....

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
