As a woman, hell yes it is. It’s basically genital mutilation. Ironically though, whenever I’ve brought this up to make friends they always say it has something to do with hygiene and is apparently helpful.

As an Indian, our laws are garbage. If a housewife/husband is abused in the marriage they should have every right to seek a divorce without repercussions. And if they had to give up on a career for their spouse they absolutely deserve alimony, irrespective of gender. It’s more nuanced when they are at fault of course. “Women avoid dangerous jobs” yeah no shit buddy, so do most men. You’d be hard pressed to find a man who WANTS to work in sewers and oil rigs. They do it for the money, which is their choice. But dont be fooled into thinking they do it because they like the job itself.
