Decades later they were officially exonerated (proven not guilty of the crime) by DNA evidence, and he still believes they were guilty, with no evidence to support it. He only stood up for his staffer because it benefits him personally.
Go ahead. I personally value a place where people can confess in anonymity. Not that I don't want justice to be done. But I'd rather have that place than not have it.
