A better PUA would tell you that it doesn’t matter. If it’s a small group, 2-3, you’ll really have to bring something more than “hey” to open them up if you’re out there solo. (So maybe bring someone so that you don’t look like a loner) Of course, you can treat those situations purely as practice approaching. Ask them for some information. Is it their favorite happy hour spot? You just graduated and you’re looking for the hotspots around town. (Now maybe they’re asking you about your major). Or …

One suggestion I’ve been given (and not taken the opportunity to enact) is day drinking. Hit up happy hours at the nicer establishments around when you get out of work or on the weekend. Night life is not too bad because you can meet up with the party people your age (under 30), but I have a rule of thumb that those places are for people who are already having a party which means they’re out with the people they know and care about and unless you can get on the same vibe as them you won’t have a…

Just making her laugh? Yeah, sort of. In this post the guy had this girl emotionally invested by talking about his passions with her. This is the part where you can make yourself a little vulnerable by disclosing a personal truth, a moment in your life that made you who you are, telling her about your drives and motivations. It’s honestly the toughest part because you can’t fake it. Also, you kinda can’t go into a conversation with a particular line or story ready to go. It has to be natural. It…

Asking someone how there day is going is a thing people do to each other regardless of relationship. Particularly when they are to some degree interested in that person. There are dudes on this sub starving for attention from females and you’re over here like, “She’s initiating conversations with me... Ew gross!” What the fuck?! Bro, start translating that shit into meet ups. And if she’s texting you before a date then consider that there has to be some build up to the moment when you two see ea…

I can only tell you how this works the ghost20063 way so in the end you’ll have to make of this what you will. Also, this may seem way insensitive, but know that I’m not trying to make you feel like shit. Watch this Look, we all have shit to deal with. Stop whining. Next, this notion that you can’t control your life needs to go. You don’t have to be religious to understand the point of this prayer, but start repeating it to yourself: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot chang…

Your worrying too much. Whoever you live with, if it's really that serious to you, let them know you may bring someone home. Respect your home and the people you bring there will also respect it. Until then, develop yourself and whatnot. The things you brought up are nut serious concerns at all. You'll be just fine.

Because I become too content too quickly or when I have no reason to be content at all. Also, when it really comes down to it: I have no fucking clue what I'm doing. I have no context for how to make my intentions completely known outside of bluntly stating it. And when it comes to sex I worry so much about being smooth knowing full well that I'm not smooth... And it's a mess. Just understand that as I type this I'm not proud of myself, but I'm trying to be better.

I definitely agree that this is a case of oneitis. However I'd like to think that I'm coming away from this particular situation with more knowledge. And it's not so much scarcity as it is I'm still too fucking shy to approach a female that's a complete stranger.

I put 'duck' instead of 'fuck' and was willing to let it slide. But I can't let a bunch of internet strangers think I don't know the difference between 'you're' and 'your'.

I'm in the exact same boat. All of my friends are living life and getting into relationships and I'm just sitting here studying for a chemistry exam so I can teach it in the Fall. Once I get this last little shit together I'm going to be un-fucking-stoppable.

I think what is meant in not showing interest too early is not making yourself too available. It's okay to let her know that you think she's your type (by getting her number, asking her out to a date, inviting her upstairs to see your etchings) but it's less okay to lay all your cards on the table at once. You don't know this person. What's more, you don't know that you'll be seeing this person after this initial meeting. There's no need to inundate them with information that they will get as th…

You're not going to make best friends everytime you leave the house, but it's good to get into the habit of speaking with people. Try to find common ground with them and trade contact information. Sometimes, these people will not call you or you won't call them. Its all good. That's the takeaway message. No matter what happens it's all good.

I totally needed this. I've met a few girls only to have things fizzle off and die a few weeks later. Externally, I'm keeping my cool and not performing any actions that make me seem needy/clingy (calling or texting after I get no response). But in my mind, I've been plaguing myself over what I'm doing wrong and how much I don't have going for me (primarily that I live with my parents). But you're right. School, work, acquiring funds are the aspects of life that need focus. The other shit will c…

I can't say either one is better than the other. Some may say that based on my definition, confidence is better because it means you know what you have going on. Some people may not care about that? But no, neither is better. I merely wanted to present a different way to look at the situation. As far as not being able to say fuck it, I don't know what to tell you there. Only that this isn't about becoming a carefree asshole. Its just about realizing you have nothing to lose and that you won't ge…

Nah, don't try to get laid. Just go out and have fun. What you need to do now is learn about yourself. What do you like to do? In what situations are you most comfortable? Least comfortable? Do you care about becoming comfortable in any situation? Work on that. Talk to people, guys and girls. What I've found is that it's best to just go out with the intention to have fun. If you see a girl you think is attractive, talk to her. Learn about her. If she seems like someone you want to continue to kn…

I guess those other places would be something akin to what puntingbaxter mentioned. And no, they didn't bite, but I'm curious to know if there is a way to recover from a situation like this. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to get stuck on any particular girl, but I feel like there can be more effort put in to alter a situation. I'll just have to see the next time I head out.

I could tell that I liked this because when I read it, I squinted my eyes and nodded in agreement. I'll definitely try to maintain this demeanor when I'm out.

Ummmm... now I do. Haha Admittedly, I can see how this is creepy. And I don't want to be that. But, I believe that there is a way to do it where she'll not feel completely violated. I'm not suggesting that I snatch her hand up and pull her into me: that would be a little much. I'm talking about gently reaching out for her hand and grabbing it to hold her up for one second. I understand personal space, but as long as I'm not too aggressive and I let go if she decides to leave, there shouldn't be …

I'm reading thisnthread and incant help but laught because I too have the same problem. I just never thought I'd grow up to also be a brown skinned Clint Eastwood or that I have a Judge Dredd face. I don't quite know how to explain it, but think about it like this: you don't want to frown, but if you walk around with a smile plastered on your face you may come off as a fucking bafoon. I believe that either of those things (frowning and smiling) communicate extreme emotions and those are okay in …

It's not about reinventing the wheel so much as submitting things with as many different perspectives so as to reach as many differing mindsets as possible. Sure, you've heard all this before, but there may be some bit of info, a sentence, a word that someone will read and go, "I never looked at it that way." This makes the whole post worth it.

You will know when you are calm, at peace, passive. A Jedi uses his powers for knowledge and defense: never for attack. I read on here awhile ago that a great way to look at approaching (and by extension, conversation) is to tell yourself that you want to get to know that girl that you see. Say, "Hello," and ask about her. Be curious. You're there because you think she's attractive, but she may not be what you want and talking to her will help you find out. I should sdd, though, thst a good deal…

I always wondered if girls like this. I make it a point to call a girl by her full first name if it's commonly shortened in some way like yours. But only if I'm attracted to them.

I can't convey through this medium a logical reason not to smile. But in my opinion, one should change it up once in awhile. One does not have a smile plastered on their face 24/7, nor does one have to smile to display happiness. Maybe think of it this way, if a girl, to whom you are attracted and causes you to smile, is talking about a serious topic with you and all you are doing is smiling back at her, how do you think she interprets this? How would you interpret it if the situation was flippe…

Dude, I hear ya! my problem is I smile to fucking much. Also, I read your comment about attracting the girls you don't care about. I do the same thing. I treat girls who are attractive remarkably different than the ones who are okay to not attractive. And that's stupid. There's absolutely no reason to do that. I just had a realization while typing this. Fuck that. Good luck to you bro! When the train stops, all together we will smile.

No. Go out and meet girls. Sure, some of them will be attractive and you will want to escalate things, but they may not be into you. Now you have a friend. Some of them may be into you instantly and things will escalate and now you have a relationship. Still more may need time to get to know you before a relationship happens. Just meet people. However, one of the things that is key (and that I'm still learning) is to take advantage of opportunity. Sometimes, you may encounter a chance meeting wi…

Basically, I talked to a bunch of people that I wouldn't date (guys and middle aged women) and avoided any girls seemingly around my age and type. Other than that, I went to a bitchin' Zeppelin 2 concert where I continued to avoid girls around my age and type. Also drink.
