One of my friend's younger brothers drank and drove in Africa and killed a guy and literally nothing happened. He wasn't in South Africa though, so the laws must be pretty lax in other African countries. I think he was in Zimbabwe, I don't know exactly though.

Yeah, I've definitely heard of people trying to or wanting to kill their children during a psychotic break because they thought that would be a better way to go than whatever their mind had cooked up; satanic hellfire, god's wrath, some gang of psychotic rapists coming to rape them to death, all sorts of fucked up shit that makes a throat slitting seem a lot nicer to a delusional person having an episode.

The imaginary view that rape is normalized by society. If anything rape is made to be one of the worst crimes someone can commit against another person. Media shows it as the vile act that it is, laws help support victims of rape, nobody is saying "oh, it's okay, it's normal to rape people". Pointing out that you're not raping anyone is apparently enabling rape culture, because it lets the rapists rape while you pretend it doesn't happen I guess? I'm pretty sure it's not normalized in the wester…
