From my experience, not caring what others think doesn't necessarily have to translate to complacency, although it might. I'm especially not keen on the current "millennial girl" trend of pastel pink, chokers, and crop tops. It's a cute look but it's young looking and a little overdone. I find that timeless pieces are best, and even a plain black top with a nice neckline can look nice and well put together if it fits well. I think paying attention to the silhouette and general quality of the fabric helps too and is much better in the long run than following trends.
