50/50 custody??That’s the problem- “rights” don’t trump a child’s best interests. Just my 2 cents. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/05/23 04:02 AM
50/50 custody??My problem with 50/50 isn’t the fact the kids don’t need the mother or father. It’s that we have to think about the child- how is it possible for a child to have 2 different homes without being confused. Kids when they grow up (a large amount) naturally gravitate towards one home for whatever reason. It’s hard to expect children to move from home to home every week. Adults don’t do that, so how can we expect children? | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/05/23 09:33 PM
50/50 custody??Also, who would do doctors appointments, dentist visits, the inevitable “your child threw up at school and needs to be picked up” during your parenting time? What if daycare is closed, etc? | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/05/23 01:25 PM
50/50 custody??I’d disagree with that. It’s better for children to be with a parent. I’m just thinking of a professional, like a doctor or lawyer. They’re usually not home until 7, and kids go to bed around 8 (if they’re below 7-8 years of age). That’s a lot of time that any parent wouldn’t exercise parenting time, and definitely not in the best interests of the child to be spending with a nanny/daycare | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/05/23 01:23 PM
50/50 custody??But what if they are still a stay at home parent after the divorce? What if one parent essentially stays home and the other one works after the divorce? It’s better for the children if there’s a parent available full time | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/05/23 01:22 AM
