I think I agree with all of that. I especially like your last point, it's something I've thought about before but I guess I'd forgotten. It's easy to look at intro classes and compare them to your upper level classes. I'm a music major, and between my senior level Form and Analysis of Beethoven class and my intro Chem class, the upper level music is obviously harder, but if I compare intro music to intro chem, the chem class is much harder.	/r/MensRights	17/06/17 05:05 PM

That's also fair. I just see a lot of people talking about how much harder STEM is without talking about why it's harder (which I do think it's harder by the way, because of the language issue). For what it's worth though, I think the whole debate of which subjects are harder is pretty stupid anyway. A world without STEM would be extremely difficult, and a world without liberal and fine arts would be extremely boring. All I'm saying is that STEM is not inherently more difficult. You do have the added difficultly of learning a language, but that also means you can't effectively compare the two. The person I was replying to was saying that their tests were like a different language to people who did other things. That's in no small part because her tests are in English. Seriously, you've been reading and writing in English since you were a little kid. A big part of STEM is learning the language, it doesn't mean it's harder or easier, it just means you have a special skillset.
