Because sometimes the point of a university degree is purely academic, and isn't meant as job training.

1) This article is 3 years old 2) It doesn't seem to cite any primary sources. This is a really interesting statistic, but before I share it with people, I'd love to see some harder data on it. Does anybody have sources for these figures?

Gents, this is obviously a terrible, terrible photo. Just like taking a neckbeard's fedora and pokemon t shirt away will increase his attractiveness, so will giving this girl some flattering clothes and some time to dress up. /devil's advocate

Man, these people are going through something that's really fucking hard. Do people really have to make it even harder for them? If somebody wants to call me "cis" gendered because it gives them some comfort, then good for them.

I agree with that, and I think that all rational people, including any woman who wants to be a firefighter, agrees with that too. In fact, that is exactly the argument that I have heard several women in non-traditional fields make. They don't want special treatment, they want the same treatment and they expect it to be really difficult.

Are you arguing that ALL men are stronger than ALL women? Or that ALL women will not be able to force open a door in less than 11 minutes? (the article says 10, by the way)

I don't know. Also, you're right, a halligan is not a magic "destroy anything" button in the same way that a penis isn't.

There is.

This is such nonsense. Sure, on average most men are larger than most women. This is pretty straightforward biology. But plenty of women outsize plenty of men. However, this is all pretty nullified, since firefighters carry these: http://s3.amazonaws.com/cooltools_legacy/halligan-m.jpg It's called a halligan, and it exists for one reason: absolutely destroying anything that gets in its way. (This has been a long, long debate that I've had with my girlfriend, who is a former firefighter. If I had…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
