Well, around half the states already have laws on the books or laws pending that will outlaw abortion in virtually every case if Roe is overturned. So saying nothing will change for most people is a little misinformed.

Never said I couldn't see that. I was specifically speaking to an interaction related to a prior thread where I suggested that maybe all women aren't fire-breathing, man-hating beasts that only want to hurt and steal from men and being told off for it, as it relates to this post, where I suggested maybe blanket "all women" statements aren't ideal.

And incidentally, I didn't identify myself as a feminist in that reply I was talking about (and my profile was blank at the time) but I used words that apparently triggered the person who decided I was feminist (which okay, I am, and own it) and it was interesting that he told me I expressly wasn't welcome here with that viewpoint. Edit: replied to the wrong message in the thread, moved for clarity

That's cool, and thanks for the suggestion, but I think I'll still identify myself with the word as I choose. Letting the worst elements like FDS co-opt the term is no different than just accepting redpillers and MGTOW claim to speak for everyone who cares about men's issues. When we allow the worst people to decide a specific description or movement applies to their extremism instead of what it originally meant, we just end up conceding territory to the worst among us. So nah, I'll be one (mayb…

I don't disagree with the fact that there are crap women, and crap men. Humans in general are often terrible, but it's far from all, for either gender. I posted a reply to that effect on a "all women are blah" post a couple of weeks ago and got told this isn't a safe space for someone who is both a man, and a feminist (feminism being the desire for full equality and acknowledging that in many ways, our society defaults toward men. though maybe not in this space specifically, but that is my lens …

Isn't this thread though a little bit of the reverse type of sexism? The title literally has an "all women are x" statement in it. Maybe there is a truth somewhere in between. I've literally had someone tell me to fuck off in here because I don't hate women and don't generally agree with the "all women are awful" party line in here. Which okay, maybe I'll get banned in here, then. I suppose it's another kind of "badge of honor". Edit: a word

It's a super weird feeling, for sure. Wore mine for 23 years also, and the part where it takes weeks for the indentation and color to go back to normal definitely makes it feel like something is missing. After 2-3 months though you'll never notice.

Women are like people, some are really good, some are really bad, and most are on a spectrum in between. Bitter blanket statements aren't helpful to anyone other than angry misogynists who like to feel justified to hate.

Bro, she doesn't work there so there isn't a thing HR is going to do other than tell you to get out of their office. If you really want revenge, find another job and send an email blast with the whole sordid story on your way out the door. The company themselves won't do shit, because their job is to deal with people issues that affect the company. Your coworker banging your wife outside the office doesn't qualify.

No, because a bad experience with one woman doesn't mean all women are awful. That's the kind of thinking that men whine about all the time when they hear it from women, and it exhibits poor critical thinking skills. You do you, I guess.

Honestly, it sounds like it's in your head and you should strongly consider getting into therapy. Everyone else telling you to use pills or exercise or go slow aren't necessarily wrong, but at your age and the feelings you are expressing, you really should find someone to talk to and work through what you're going through.

I think you've already answered your question. Having standards and boundaries, knowing the games that RP men play and watching for the red flags is really the only way to be sure. I also think that being thoughtful and deliberate with how you approach OLD is key, as you'll weed out a lot of assholes just by taking your time and feeling things out. But it's not just about sex, though. My ex and I tried it for a while, because we both acknowledged that while we loved each other, it was also the case that we had feelings for other people. It didn't work out in the end because I'm not built to split allegiances like that, feelings aside. So we amicably divorced. But the sex wasn't nearly the only thing it was ever about.

How exactly is it shitty reading comprehension to point out you compared women to cars, and then claimed the car you drive says something about you as a man, when that wasn't the analogy as written initially? Maybe you should go back an consider what you wrote? You: cars are a metaphor for women, and my desire for car "X" is different than my settling for car "Y". Then you: Cars aren't a metaphor for women, they are a metaphor for what women see when they observe a man. If I desire car "X" that'…

As a man who managed a 22-year marriage with kids and who is in a second LTR that is tracking toward marriage, this all tracks. Speaking for myself, completely true. I've been told by women when other women are hitting on me, but I'm often oblivious to the cues women put out. I'm a man that values myself and my resources, I just don't treat sex and relationships as some kind of marketplace or game. If you're amicable and friendly, it may be possible to do the entire thing without a lawyer, depending on your local laws. My ex and I did that a couple of years ago, was very inexpensive, everyone got basically what they wanted and there wasn't any animosity or need to negotiate much outside of holidays with the kids. Your situation may be different, but just throwing out that it's doable if you are both in agreement and want to do things without any mess.

I doubt it. Not on a huge level. That's the wet dream of college neckbeards who read Ayn Rand as a serious thinker, not something the majority of billionaires would do given the difficulties of finding someplace with the infrastructure to support them running billion-dollar corporations but that won't also tax them heavily.

Yeah, but maybe the proper response is to bring up the education and happiness level of places that have more children, not ask educated professionals to fuck themselves back to the poorhouse for something someone else decided is "good". /r/PurplePillDebate21/09/21 11:39 PM

You think coddling people makes them want to produce less kids? As an actual parent (x3), I'd argue that what makes people want fewer kids is having fuller lives in general, combined with being busy, and having better family planning options. Kids are a fuckload of time and expense and people who are educated enough to understand that tend to be more careful about having them, including how many and when.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/21 11:36 PM
13

I think the bottom line is that wealthier, better educated, and happier societies produce less children. They also tend to be the sorts of places with great quality of life benefits like shorter work hours, more vacation days, and better parental leave. I don't think the correlation is any more complicated than that.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/21 11:05 PM
9

What's your argument for why parental leave is bad for birth rates aside from the negative correlation? I don't think the negative correlation is at all suggestive of what you're claiming it is. Remember, correlation isn't causation.

My fiance is bi, I'm straight. I wouldn't be okay with her having sex with a woman, any more than I would be if she had it with a man. Both are a no-go for me. Partly because in my last marriage, we tried the open thing for a while and I'm not into it. Fiance and I have had a couple of low key conversations about the potential of a threesome. A couple of things, here... First, I disagree wholeheartedly that having an OF, or any other online method or forum for displaying nudes or engaging in any other kind of sex work is "whoring" - I don't really wish to continue to engage if you insist that a woman making use of her own sexuality and her own choices is subject to your own moral judgement, which your shaming language indicates you're absolutely doing. "Someone like" me? Who is someone like me, exactly? My general take is that we should be working toward making society more equal and more equitable, and that women should have the personal autonomy to make their own decisions within the framework of the more equitable society we push toward. It won't be perfect for a while, but as a man, I have zero say in what a woman does or doesn't decide to do with her body regardless of my feelings about what society may or may not "attempt" to do, because…

Okay, but you're arguing against a strawman by claiming I hold a belief I don't hold, or made a claim I didn't make. My original comment stated that it's a bad thing for a man to attempt to convince a woman to do something sexually. That's it.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/21 05:31 PM

Still not sure what you're arguing here. The places you cite as comparison points have vastly different economies and social mores than the US (and EU, for that matter). Maybe, just maybe, it's a Bad Thing™ for a man to attempt to convince a woman of anything as far as sexuality and her body are concerned. Possibly it's better to let women be and decide for themselves what they want without trying to convince them of anything or coerce them into doing anything.

Yes, women have been treated like property for literally thousands of years in most cultures, but instant fixes work. Excuse my eye-rolling.

Black people: You know, we have some serious problems today. Fragile white people: But I never made anyone pick mah cotton! If you're honestly stupid enough to think that there aren't systemic issues for oppressed groups today that are relevant to how they were treated in the past, that STILL need addressed in our current time, I have no use for you as a human being.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/21 06:45 PM

LOL, just because women are mean to you doesn't mean that they are mean. Look in a mirror, bruh.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/21 06:31 PM

Uh, they aren't.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/21 06:27 PM

No, using the coded language of "indoctrination" is pretty obvious about what you think.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/21 06:15 PM
3

Your thesis that women are "indoctrinated" (presumably by other women) is complete and utter bullshit from the start. So yeah, I'm not gonna make an argument because you, and your ideas, aren't worth my time.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/21 06:12 PM

That's a lot of words for "I know nothing about history and women are mean".
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/21 06:04 PM

Yeah, feminism isn't doing to well in places where women are treated like cattle, never had equal rights, and men are trash. Go figure.

I suspect most people can attract partners, it's more about whether the partners they attract are acceptable.

I don't do sealioning, lol.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/21 05:23 PM

From my POV, women may be pickier, but that's directly correlated to how many dudes are just not worth their time.

Oh man, if we came with manuals, I'm split on whether we would live in a complete utopia, or if we'd have already killed ourselves off to make room for the next thing, lol.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/21 05:20 PM

Because the chance that any given man is going to be a fucking creep about it is far too high.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/21 05:10 PM

I agree that in healthy relationships, both people bring things to the table that often aren't identical but complementary. Different strengths and different needs. I disagree that any of that is specifically gendered though.

That's why I said "us"

Have you met men? Bruh, there are not that many of us worth giving compliments to, lol.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/21 04:39 PM

Yeah, how dare they care if someone has a job, acts like a functional adult human being, makes any kind of effort to have their shit together, doesn't act like a misogynist prick, isn't creepy, takes care of themselves, etc. /s

Women are far more afraid someone is going to try to stick their dick in them than being murdered. Those statistics don't lie. The majority of women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. If that was the same for men, I'd be fucking afraid to go outside too. In fact, I'd be far more afraid of it than murder. If I get killed, oh well. It's over and I don't know the difference. If I get sexually assaulted I have to somehow LIVE with that shit. Worrying about that isn't irrational.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/21 04:24 PM

Men didn't "allow" feminism. Women woke up and realized being second class to men like you didn't cut it anymore.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/21 04:21 PM

I think you're overthinking things. I compliment my woman frequently, because she's awesome and because I know she has options and always want her to feel seen and appreciated. She compliments me frequently as well, for her own reasons. But I assume they aren't that different from mine.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/21 03:58 PM

Yeah, but what you think about the risk doesn't negate their lived experience.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/09/21 03:51 PM

Probably depends on what you're looking for. You may find that having meaningless sexual encounters is less likely by being emotionally open and displaying vulnerability. My direct experience with building a healthy LTR is that women looking for that want both someone who is "strong" and protective while also being open about their feelings and fearless about being vulnerable. However, I don't date conservatives or anyone with extreme traditional views on gender roles, so ymmv.

Except what you're also doing in the same breath is minimizing the fact that we rape and commit DV at such a rampant pace that the end result is men, year over year, only experience 1% more violent crime than women. Taking away the single most prevalent statistic to support your statement tells us a lot about what you think of women, my dude.

Er, no. Not paranoid because I'm a straight white male and we've essentially been handed the world on a silver platter. I have nothing to be paranoid about. Does my fiance have reason to be paranoid? Yeah, because lots of men think they have a right to her body and lots of other men make excuses for those men. I'm not sexist. Less than 1% difference in victimization rates isn't "significantly" more likely. Meanwhile, a third of women worldwide will experience sexual or domestic violence in their lifetime. Please explain how as a man, being the "victim" of random street violence is worse enough than being beaten or raped by someone and means you have the right to minimize violence against women.

My direct experience is that talking to women goes a lot further to get "courting" started.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/21 10:57 PM

Of course you do. I'm saying attraction based solely on looks is shallow, and it's cool if that's you, you gotta be you. But don't be at all surprised when your future relationships all turn out to be shallow as well. My experience has taught me that starting from shallow never becomes anything more than shallow.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/21 10:52 PM

If all you want is shallow, by all means, keep being shallow.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/21 10:46 PM

What "actions" are you referring to? My point was simply that lots of 21 year old women don't want anything to do with 21 year old guys because they act like immature douchebags. There are studies showing men lag behind women by some 11 years in terms of emotional maturity. This isn't rocket science.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/21 12:13 AM

I'm sure that doesn't have anything to do with the relative maturity of 21 yo women vs. 21 yo men. /s

Mine aren't. Because I go out of my way to make sure that my sons are raised right, to respect women as human beings and treat them as such. Because when I see my bros doing shit that isn't cool, being misogynist or disrespectful, I call it out. Because I live by example. But that's me. I have no idea what you do. Or what the 4-ish billion other men do. I absolutely know they aren't all doing it the same as me, or we wouldn't have a third of women experiencing violence in their lifetimes. Until …

My reaction? To ask how. And then I would ask if there have been academic studies about it. It would be interesting to read and discuss, if true. Exactly, you would not accept the claim, you would want to go into details, and dissect it. Yet, when you make a generalised claim about men, i am supposed to accept it? One of our claims can be confirmed with literally the world's laziest Google search. You already know which one, even if you refuse to accept it. Sure enoigh. You can show me statistic…

My reaction? To ask how. And then I would ask if there have been academic studies about it. It would be interesting to read and discuss, if true. Regardless, being pedantic and literally "not all men"-ing the statements above is like arguing that "viruses being dangerous to humans is a dishonest statement based on broad generalization" - I mean, if you're that dude, good luck with that.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/21 04:58 PM

First, how exactly is stating men are dangerous to women on a societal level because they disproportionately cause violence toward women not honest? Second, what significance is there to the "other side" when we are talking about the fact that a third of women and beaten or sexually assaulted by men worldwide? I'm honestly curious how you can twist that without victim blaming.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/21 04:49 PM
2

Ah, so when something happens so frequently that it's a statistic and not an example, we should ignore the frequency with which it happens systemically because someone's poor fee-fees might get hurt. Got it.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/21 04:17 PM

So does the proven fact that statistically, any given man is far more a danger to any given woman than vice versa. You can't blame women for having the idea that men are dangerous when men keep being dangerous. It's on us to make sure our sons and bros aren't dangerous if you want that narrative to change.

For casual sex, maybe. But when really talking relationships, attractiveness goes SO FAR beyond what someone simply looks like or how "conventionally attractive" they are, and that goes for both men and women. Part of the stupidity of this whole "pill" crap is the laser focus on casual sex and next to no focus on human relationships.

This post is like an alphabet soup of logical fallacy.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/08/21 09:46 PM

Yeah, or ya know, just be someone who isn't terrified of relationships. I've had vastly more sex within the structure of a relationship than outside of one, maybe the unrealistic expectation is that lots of women just want to catch a dick without anything other attachment or feelings. Obviously some, maybe even many, do...but many, many more don't.

Yeah, I'm just a mid-forties guy who spent 20 years married, had three kids, decided to mutually part ways and enter the dating scene a few years back. WTF do I know about anything, given my limited life experience? /s

Women don't care that much about looks. Not even most of them. It's not gaslighting for someone to point that out. TRP dudes have a tendency to think their anecdotes about "women won't fuck me" equates to some kind of real data, and it just doesn't. The reason many women absolutely don't want to fuck many men is because of their ridiculous attitudes, not because of their looks. Or whatever, man. I'll be over here "soy boy"-ing, and getting fucked. You do your thing or lack of.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/08/21 12:13 AM

LOL, I get laid by an incredibly hot and successful woman any time I want to while also being about a 5/10 on the conventional attractiveness scale and owning a "Real Men Are Feminists" t-shirt I wear on the regular, primarily by just not being a complete douche and making sure she knows she is safe and loved. Y'all make this WAY too hard, on yourselves. By not being real and turning everything into a zero-sum game.
