On a similar note, something that has helped me is just saying yes. Whenever you get asked to do something and the alternative is to either just stay at home or continue doing what you typically do, just say yes. Even if you think it may be lame, or it doesn't fully pertain to your interests, just get out there and experience something new. Nobody will be on their death bed wishing they stayed in more often.
