NO No is a complete sentence. Stop telling her any of your “reasoning” it doesn’t make a difference to her. Just say no without explaining. Always say as little as possible until you have a divorce decree in place. It is also possible (if she makes more money than you) that she pays alimony.

Do your kids know you love them? Look I assume your kids know you love them. (Make sure you tell them) Also kids make up their own narrative as to why this or that happened. Be really clear with them. Tell them holidays are not “important” Tell them you KNOW they love you too. Kids need to hear that often.

I think you will find men here (at least) discuss the pain they feel at a failed marriage because that’s the beauty of this sub. You will see the occasional “I’m finally free” post, but it’s not as prevalent. Divorce affects everyone so very differently. Plain and simple it just sucks. Statistics are showing the highest divorce rates are among same-sex female marriages. Maybe that’s not surprising as ~70% of all divorces “they” say are initiated by women. I hope you can find support in the frien…

Every couple is different. You guys know what your relationship is and was. I’m not going to say this is absolutely a terrible idea, but it sure sounds like it. Everyone here has a strong gut feeling about it and Reddit is anonymous so they can just say it. You both can’t have it both ways. Divorce means DIVORCE. My guess is she doesn’t want to really deal with the idea of divorce. The intimacy will prevent her (and you) from dealing with the hard truth. You guys need to admit you actually want …

You can report her the the local bar association File a complaint with the bar association. Be dispassionate of course, you don’t want to liable or slander her, but state the facts. WV also has an Office of Disciplinary Council Read how to file a complaint here . We put attorneys on pedestals and expect exemplary behavior but not all are cut out for the job. This one sounds horrible at customer service at a minimum.

Your lawyer may advise you to disclose to avoid any appearance of nefarious conduct. You can delay the distribution for as long as you can stand it. (This will have the added benefit of keeping the money around to pay any state inheritance taxes) Personally, I wouldn’t think of it as having inherited $2 million, but rather an $8000.00 / mo boost to your income. Do this by buying a low cost ETF like Vanguard’s VYM and set up a quarterly distribution at a prudent 5%. You might want to consider est…

All further communication must be through your lawyer. If you live in a one-party consent state (check). Use voice memo or a cheap digital voice recorder to record the conversations where she is threatening you. Make sure you are on your best behavior, no yelling, no counter threats, etc. You do not have to hand the papers directly to her. Check the service of process rules in your jurisdiction to find out for your own information. If she refuses to sign acknowledgement that she is being sued fo…

Dude, this whole thing sucks. I can’t really think anything of you other than what you originally wrote AND it’s Reddit for fuck’s sake. Reading your first post made it sound like (or I inferred) you didn’t care if you were around your kids or not. This post makes me wonder if your withdrawal “i dream of finding myself by myself asap. I tried but can’t get a loving feeling for them, i’ve “been gone” for many years already, apparently not just in words but truly, mentally.” was self-preservation?…

It sounds like It sounds like you have some undiagnosed issue? Have you gotten any counseling? Does the state you live in require a coparenting class? Can you afford to get some assistance. It is not “normal” to not want to be with your kids. If you are okay with that so be it. I’m not judging, I just can’t relate. I hope you get what you are looking for here

I’d sue your attorney for malpractice or at least report him to your state bar association

Before you assume she is right, I’d do a paternity test. Still if he thinks you are Dad and YOU raised him, this will be really tough for him.

If she remains working she is not entitled to alimony etc. If you stop working to take care of a child, you get the alimony etc.

Without saying what it was, simply remind them there are at least two sides to every narrative. You might damage your relationship with her brother. But only bother if she is making you into a bad guy. Otherwise be the bigger person for your own self-respect. Say nothing. The truth about what kind of person anyone is, comes out eventually. I would strongly advise against following some of the advice to go scorched earth.

If you eventually decide to marry, do a pre-nuptial agreement for sure.

At the moment I feel crushingly lonely (dead bedroom)., I could deal with that I suppose but the additional hostility and distrust I feel from her most the time is making me wonder why I am still here. I mean the marriage has been over a long time. I don’t see myself any happier, just less anxious and unhappy all the time. The goal then, would be to take the stressor of living together out of my life. It’s constant, anxiety provoking and feels debilitating.

Wow scary. I’ve been married over 36 years and am close to calling it quits. I guess part of it is admitting to having had a bad marriage and not being strong enough to do anything about it.

This is what I can’t imagine not doing. I understand there is anger, but do you really get to the point where you don’t care about your ex?
/r/Divorce_Men17/10/23 03:39 AM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
