My last gf did this once early in our relationship. I think it is easy to feel invalid sometimes when your partner doesn't want to reciprocate your feelings, but you have every right to say no. She was always going on about the importance of consent, and so I explained to her in a calm rational way that if consent was important to her, my consent should be important to her too. Also, I reiterated that I loved her and cared for her and just because I didn't want sex in a particular moment didn't …

Condolences man. I'm sorry you have had a tough time of it. It's especially hard when you feel like you are doing everything right. Here's to hoping you land something soon.

Its also effecting women. I got into an argument with my sister about it the other day. She complains all the time about not having a boyfriend and yet, how horrible men are. And she is too brainwashed to see the connection. It makes me sad. Also, anytime I start to make really logical points she just becomes conflicted and emotional. Like "I love my brother and he is right when he says he deserves compassion, but how can I give him that when men are so horrible." The really scary thing is how u…

I'm sorry about that. There is obviously something broken with her. Maybe she was abused. I'm not excusing her absolutely disgusting behavior by any means but it helps me feel better when I remember that when someone treats me like garbage, 90% of the time it has nothing to do with me. In other words: You not deserving compassion and understanding isn't valid, which makes me just want to reach through the internet and hug you because you absolutely deserve to be loved. Feel better man, I care ab…

Ok. I agree that those are areas where boys and girls differ. Can you still not the like the phrase "for a boy"? And really answer this question: would you not be offended if someone said that?

Umm. Ya I don't like a good amount of those. What point are you trying to make?

Idk. He said shes a good footballer. I think you can say that without adding the "for a girl" bit. Feminism has its faults, lots of em for sure. But I can see the other side of this one clearly. If someone said "for a boy" I wouldn't like it. That was funny though, I did laugh.

I disagree. I think it is rude. Men are on average stronger then women, but the phrase "for a (insert group here)" tacked onto anything puts people in boxes. No one likes that. Not me, not you, not anyone. Edit: is it the biggest transgression ever? no. Does it make you a sexist? most likely not. But I can see why someone would be offended. I would be offended.

I can see where she is coming from. I love kids and get along with them really well and if someone said to me "wow, your really good with kids, for a boy" I would be offended. You can recognize that men and women are different while also recognizing that people shouldn't be bound so tightly by gender norms. Everyone should do what they love and be themselves. Back to the point, I would apologize and move on. Doesn't seem like a fight worth having.

Id love to read more on these axes. Where did you get that from? Edit: I have seen the 2 axes model, but not a 3 axes model Also, I think the axes model is great, but there can still be validity to Horseshoe Theory, especially in addressing fanaticism which I think the political axes model doesn't represent well.

This may be random but I like to share it in these kind of open minded political threads. Look up 'Horseshoe Theory'. It has its faults but the idea that the far-left and far-right use similar tactics and rhetoric is something to keep in mind when fighting fanaticism.

They are. I was trying to make fun of the "make it all about them" idea. I think it's great to support women for being women and I think it's great to support men for being men.

TIL: International mens day is all about celebrating men...who support women.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
