How many of you at one time identified as incel?Completely agree. I would compare it to a cult. I know that may be a bit drastic, but I think that the philosophy is very similar to that of cult psychology and it is equally difficult to escape from. It also exploits those who are vulnerable like a cult would. | /r/ExRedPill | 22/09/23 03:28 PM
How many of you at one time identified as incel?Sorry, I wasn’t trying to deny or degrade what you are going through. What you said resonated with me a bit and angered me since I used to have a similar thought pattern. I’m projecting, since I’m trying to strongly resist negative feelings towards women, or the idea of women having inherently negative feelings towards me. I personally think all of it is and was in my head, and as I’m finally starting to go on dates after 7+ years of being trapped this nightmare, I’m really finally acknowledging… | /r/ExRedPill | 22/09/23 02:44 PM
How many of you at one time identified as incel?I was pretty close although never directly identified as such. But I would lurk /r9k/ on 4chan, which was a doomer forum for incels. I was much more invested in the red pill though. But as years went on and I became disillusioned with the red pill, I think at times I did internalize some incel concepts like “lie down and rot.” After losing hope it can be hard to recover, and so some will go in the opposite direction and convince themselves they cannot succeed or recover. | /r/ExRedPill | 22/09/23 02:36 AM
How many of you at one time identified as incel? You don’t have a fear of women, that’s not a real thing — it’s social anxiety. You need to ask yourself why you are afraid of talking to women. The answer for me was that I had little to no self-esteem and did not believe in myself. And so I was internalizing this idea of being rejected and ended up ostracizing myself and separating myself from others. | /r/ExRedPill | 22/09/23 02:32 AM
I wish I knew this sooner, especially before I got lost a female friend and got mad at her.The root of it, from my perspective at least, is extreme insecurity. Putting people into categories allows you to look down on others and make yourself feel better, essentially the psychology of a bully. This is what the whole alpha and beta dichotomy is about too. Strive to be an “alpha” and have an “alpha” mindset (misogynist) or you’re a “beta male” supposedly like other men in modern society. | /r/ExRedPill | 13/09/23 02:07 AM
I wish I knew this sooner, especially before I got lost a female friend and got mad at her.Yes great comment. I think it is a part of recovery to at some point begin questioning how/why you believed in something in the first place — but as you said it is important that you follow that with introspection and reflection. Why was I susceptible to such an ideology? Why did I get so entrenched that my daily thoughts and actions began to be corroded by it? It’s super important to answer these questions, and I say that from experience of climbing out of this hellhole. | /r/ExRedPill | 13/09/23 01:55 AM
How did the red pill effect your life negatively? How has it gotten better since you’ve left?It is a scam and a cult. TRP, in part, markets itself as self-improvement targeted at men. And through that it does encourage some practices that are unanimously considered positive, like personal fitness, bodybuilding and practicing social skills. Maybe this is why you say it “can be used for good”? To answer your question — it preyed on my romantic and sexual insecurities as a man. I became a creep who never took no for an answer. I perceived every rejection from a woman as a shit test. I thou… | /r/ExRedPill | 30/08/23 11:09 AM
Ex-RP what was the most difficult part about being RP?Thanks, I appreciate the advice :) | /r/ExRedPill | 19/06/23 03:52 AM
Ex-RP what was the most difficult part about being RP?Yeah that makes sense, can totally understand that. I’m not quite asexual but I’ve always been a bit sexually confused I guess. I never was super obsessed with having sex but I felt like I was “missing out.” My main point was that for someone who is immature like I was, TRP was appealing not even due to some sexual urge but more due to feeling like I needed to fit in and lose my virginity and get women like “everyone else.” I thought it would solve my confidence and self-esteem issues and my fri… | /r/ExRedPill | 19/06/23 02:13 AM
Ex-RP what was the most difficult part about being RP?Being asexual doesn’t make you “immune.” A lot of the appeal of TRP stems from men with low self-esteem and who are sexually confused trying to feel like they fit in. At least that’s what it felt like for me. There’s a social component in addition to a sexual one. Same for PUA. | /r/ExRedPill | 19/06/23 01:51 AM
Ex-RP what was the most difficult part about being RP?The dehumanization of women made it difficult to form relationships. It made it feel like there was this constant pressure to always approach women and work on your game, and never accept no for an answer. The aftermath of RP is way more difficult. Coming to terms with the pain you’ve caused others. Realizing your predatory behavior and thought patterns and figuring out how to recover from that. I still struggle with it years later. | /r/ExRedPill | 19/06/23 01:47 AM
