Thank you so much for your response and references! On one hand I'm glad to know there's not one steadfast standard for sex, but on the other hand that makes it harder to figure out what is right for me!

Thanks so much for your response! I agree that discipline is very important, and it's important to observe in your partner as well

Some of the compliments I appreciated but some of them made me feel a bit uncomfortable just because of the excessiveness. I think it might have been nervousness/trying to fill the space. He must have called me pretty or beautiful at least 20 times on the date 😂 I wouldn't say it made me get an ick, it just felt thick if that makes sense. I did pay attention on our date to see if there were any other cues that could suggest manipulation such as future faking, moving the relationship quickly etc …

This is a good point, thank you! I'll take their advice with a grain of salt

Thank you for your reply! I agree that people are way too quick to pull out the red flags. I'll let time and more interactions determine my judgements

I can appreciate a physical compliment and I'm glad he expresses his attraction to me, but at the same time it does feel a bit shallow. Our current understanding of each other so far is shallow though so hopefully as we get to know each other he will come to appreciate and value my character based traits as well

Thank you so much for this thoughtful response! Both of my friends who expressed concern are married and have been for a few years. One called the flattery "disturbing" and one called it an "orange flag". I have in the past picked some partners that weren't a good fit for me, but recently I have changed my criteria in what I'm looking for in a partner, so hopefully I will also make better choices.

Thank you very much! Some of my friends were "concerned" about how much he was flattering me so I wanted to get some other perspectives to make sure I wasn't completely overlooking something. I'm waiting until a marriage proposal to have sex but I'm obviously waiting to tell him about that boundary

Thank you for the thoughtful response! The main reasons I'm apprehensive is because my friends have suggested it's a red flag and that he may be love bombing me. It was a first date so I was also thinking "Why is he praising me so much it's not like he really knows me" I'm going to continue to date and get to know him before forming a judgement

Would you say that men should also be in a good mental state when entering a relationship?

I'm single but I would die for my friends, they mean everything to me

I have a hard time deciding what flaws to accept, because everyone has them. I know eventually I'll have to pick someone who's not perfect. I'm getting off topic now, sorry! I'm so happy you have your special person ❤️

Thank you for this thoughtful response! I did apologize initially so I'm glad to know you would do the same. In the future I'll try to be even more patient and when my partner has calmed down I can communicate that I'm hurt by what happened. I do think I was right to end things, I did not feel lead by him at all. He was very infantile at times.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
