I hate to break it to you, but in most places, art students aren’t so lucky. You went in with a goal in mind. The art students I went to college with didn’t, nor did they know how to begin. There is a phenomenon that can explain why companies charge more for the same product. Popularity. If everyone wants a pink razor, expect prices to rise. If everyone wants black razors, expect those prices to rise. The only reason companies charge more for something comparable is they know people will buy it at that price point. Look at Bethesda and Fallout76. Extreme example, but it fits.
