You mention working with your hands, can I suggest you stick with comp sci and pursue an IT job, not programming? You can do a lot of hands on stuff (building servers, racking equipment, etc.) Also I feel it’s easier to get into a management in IT vs programming.

I don't see anything wrong with telling her I'm not interested in just being her friend and to hit me up if she changes her mind. I'm willing to not engage with her in a friendly way other than at the gym where I act as if nothing happened.
