Notice how I said women? Where did I say "girls who were raped"? It's almost like my comment was made in response to another which in turn was made in the boader context of the OP's post Even if I'm generous and assume you only meant adult women, your blanket statement would still include raped women. Even so, you are avoiding coming right out and saying it so I'll just ask directly. Do you believe girls who were raped should have access to abortion? What about women. It's not moving the goal po…

To be clear, I didn't comment on my views regarding abortion in the context of rape; I just said it was not relevant for this discussion. You did. You made a blanket statement that said "abortion should not be an option for women". That statement has ramifications that apply to multiple contexts. The whole point of this conversation is to discuss whether two adults who engage in consensual sex should be held responsible for the natural outcome of their behavior and how to hold them responsible e…

Given that the context of the whole conversation is adults engaging in consensual sex, your first point is irrelevant for this discussion. Note, I'm not saying it isn't relevant to a broader abortion conversation, but it just doesn't apply here. I'm glad we can agree rape victims and minors below the age of consent shouldn't be forced to have babies against their will. You may not think it's relevant, but you can't have a conversation about a law without examining all consequences whether or not…

Charging a 12 year old rape victim with murder because she doesn't want to give birth to her rapists baby doesn't sound like justice. I'm glad that we at least agree that outlawing abortion doesn't prevent abortions. A lot of people think it does.

It's either doctors or coat hangers. Prohibition doesn't work Edit - Just to add some proper context to this thread for anyone reading it, u/Agentrickdicker tries to make it sound like he is only referring to consenting adults with his comment and that this is the wrong sub to discuss abortions for rape victims. I didn't even need to scroll far down his profile before i came across this gem....on the same sub. I believe abortion kills an innocent human being, which I believe is always morally wr…

Demanding a paternity test implies you believe your partner has or may have cheated on you. You think implying your partner has cheated and them being hurt by that is a red flag? It does not. It's a precaution. Does putting on a seat belt mean the driver is reckless? Does having a second chute while parachuting mean you don't think the first wasn't packed correctly? Do life boats on a ship mean it's about to sink? Does taking out life insurance mean you are about to die? The answer to all of the…

Are you aware that demanding a paternity test in a healthy and comitted relationship where your partner has not given any reason not to trust them would be a huge red flag to many? To many cheaters yeah. If that's a red flag to her, that should be a bigger red flag to you. This has broken up relationships and put serious strain on others. Once again, you're better off. If she doesn't respect you enough to respect your rational, personal decision in this matter, then she doesn't respect you. Trus…

The man rightly assumes the developing child is his offspring because he has been given no reason to believe otherwise You would have to be pretty naive to think that nobody cheats ever. To assume a child is yours based on nothing but one person's word, even a person you love and trust, is a huge gamble. The child is born, the man signs the cirth certificate because he still has no sound reason to not do so A simple precaution is reason enough. Anyone who would not want to raise a child after fi…

If you are suggesting that if the child isn't his and he signs it thinking it is that he wasn't informed, no it's not important. That's what the paternity test is for. If you decide to roll the dice and risk it, that's on you. It's like saying someone didn't provide informed consent while gambling because they didn't know they'd lose.

LMFAO good luck with that. I have a 7 month old baby. A very large percentage of women start talking about "baby fever" if they spend even a short time around him or sometimes even just see a picture. If some women want to sell their bodies in this way, i have no moral issue with it, just like prostitution. Their body, their choice. It basically is reproductive prostitution. But to suggest a social movement that relies on the majority of women deciding to never have kids unless they're paid mill…

That makes sense but if the father didn't think it was his and got a test done to prove it he could still get off the hook no?

Can someone be listed without their knowledge or consent?
/r/MensRights11/09/21 01:12 AM

It's not quite that simple. If you sign the birth certificate, then yes. You are signing a legal document that says you are the father. I don't agree with it, but in that context they don't care if you are the actual father. If you don't, I'm pretty sure they would have to prove paternity in most places. If you are not ready to adopt the child if it's not yours, get the test before you sign!

Exactly. Some of it is explained by men being statistically more likely to work long hours and dangerous jobs, some of it by general career choices made by men and women, and some of it by the wage gap in the upper 1% of society which is real, but only affects 1% of us. When you take the total earnings and average it by men and women, it seems like most women get paid 70 cents on the dollar, but it isn't even close to true.

In my opinion, forcing people to hire anyone outside of merit should be eliminated. On one side, there is the fact by eliminating merit, it is impossible to pick the best people for the job. In the system you are describing, it may have been statistically unlikely to hire based on merit, but not impossible or worse yet, illegal. On the other side, you are not even fighting for equality but actually the opposite. Lets say you regulate 50/50 men and women and are successful. Lets also say that you…

There is a comment there that says this "It's not so much that women should be trusted. Its that women in leadership have been thoroughly, exhaustively vetted. Just by the fact of being there, I know they are almost always more capable, smarter, more trustworthy than the men in the same role. Because women in leadership are always tested by fire to get there. The default is to distrust them, and they have to prove themselves over and over. Very few incompetent or openly rapacious women can advan…

You aren't wrong that historically merit has not been used often enough, but are we really fixing that by making it impossible to hire solely on merit?

I am suggesting that were we to start dna testing every child, there would be far more single parents. I am also suggesting that kids are better off with two parents. Therefore, logically, the real risk is not to the mothers, but the kids. That said, your position that we cant do both is bullshit. We can dna test while at the same time provide more support for single parents. You cant have your cake and eat it too.

Tbf i think its more that it could negatively affect the child. I still support dna testing at birth, but its important to address this if you ever want the law changed.

Not in the slightest. In the case that we do not have enough evidence to prove one way or the other, they should both be found "not guilty" of their accused crimes in a court of law. The whole idea of innocent until proven guilty is that it is better to let a guilty man go free than to punish an innocent one, which is what the police are trying to do. This is why the verdict is "not guilty" rather than "innocent"

So you are against making indecent exposure laws gender neutral because women view unwanted touching of their breasts as sexual assault? This makes no sense. As a guy, I could see myself being uncomfortable with being groped on my chest in a sexual way if i was not consenting, but at the same time would not want someone to tell me I need to cover myself in public. This is not hypocrisy in the slightest because the sexual nature of groping makes breasts sexual within the context whereas walking a…

You are a life saver for the formatting. I wouldn't have guessed it was because I tried to indent my paragraphs. Regarding the rule, I did notice the one about not posting regarding being banned, but I haven't been officially banned anywhere and I kind of thought that was regarding people banned from this subreddit using alternate accounts. Should I delete this post?

I read recently that if a women is drunk she cannot legally consent any more in many places. That means every time a couple gets drunk and has sex and they don't report it, it is an unreported rape. Statistics can get quite blurred when you take facts like this into account.
/r/MensRights25/07/15 07:49 PM

That's true. My analogy is only true if the girl is awake and aware like somebody capable of getting into a car and attempting to drive it.

You know what, as far as I'm concerned, if you get black out drunk and run somebody over you are still responsible for what happens next. This is no different, so long as both people are consenting, conscious and aware at the time.
