No wonder we have no male teachers. I really appreciate your question, and I think there are a lot of facets to it. 1) I used "more vulnerable" in this instance because of primarily age. No wonder we have no male teachers. Eh. I think each is an important point. I'm not denying that children falsely accuse and that adults are too quick to believe. When sexual misconduct actually occurs it should be handled as such. If the process of determining whether or not it does occur is "guilty until proven innocent," then that should be changed. No wonder we have no male teachers. Girls can absolutely be smart and cruel enough to do that, but I'd argue it doesn't happen as often as older men praying on that vulnerability. It's clear there should be some a better procedure in place to determine innocence. I'm not arguing against men here, I'm only explaining why it's such an issue for girls. I can watch documentaries like Tough Guise. I can talk to men and boys about their experiences. Perhaps I'm wrong. No wonder we have no male teachers. I was responding to kizzan who brought it back to rape culture. 1 in 7 male teachers falsely accused of sexual assault is an alarming statistic. Can you provide a link to that study? I'm not saying it's incorrect, but I can't find a source for that. It's a problem that society is telling these girls that the only way to get nice things in life is with their bodies. The negative impacts on men are not irrelevant. No wonder we have no male teachers. I'm not saying that these 13-year-olds weren't at fault. I'm just pointing out why the focus is on them and what is wrong with society that fosters these actions. Men who rape women are absolutely at fault, but so is society for telling them that they are entitled to women who are wearing revealing clothing. No wonder we have no male teachers. As a feminist, my response is, "Yeah. This is a problem. I don't think that anyone would deny that. The focus is on the teenage girls because they are the ones who are more vulnerable. They are submersed in a world where girls, as a whole, are more sexualized than boys. There are messages from the media (and traditional gender roles) telling them that women are here to serve men.
