2	So what positive things, if any, are you doing with your life right now? Finished my masters degree a couple of months ago, studying for a certification to get promoted at work. Working in a field I love at a place that is great. Starting into 3D modeling and 3D printers. 2	How do you move on after you lose all your support? I haven’t lost my father yet but he is getting up there in age. It is something I try not to worry about but it comes up from time to time. Losing him will be the hardest thing I’ll have to live through, but thanks to him I will live through it. You will as well. One thing that might help is to do something in his memory. 3	What are you getting your dad for father's day? Don’t focus on what you can get him, focus on what you can do with him. Go on a hike, go fishing, or whatever hobby he taught you growing up. Take him out for a nice meal and ask him to tell you stories about him growing up or when you were too young to remember. Fathers, unlike mothers, would rather spend time with you rather than get nice things for the most part. 1	What do you guys do for work? Project management isn’t a half bad gig either. I do know that there is a shortage of it related ones right now in the US but likely are elsewhere as well. Might be worth looking into. As for tech, it does take a passion to keep afloat in most industries. The more specialized the more passion required. 1	What do you guys do for work? Info Sec and loving it. Lots to do, you never stop learning and there is a massive shortage of people in the field. It’s not easy at all, the stress can be quite high at times but I’ve found it very rewarding so far. Working from home is a common option depending on what branch you go down (pen testing/red team being the most common remote position, bug hunting, etc) but not always the case (forensics for the most part requires being on site or in the court room). What I ended up doing was starting a list of what I wanted to do in life. Get a degree or learn a trade, travel, whatever floats your boat, and start working on one item at a time. Dick (Man in the High Castle, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep are good starts) Neruomancer by Gibson. 3	I quit all of social media, heres why I would add a 4th item: social media is almost always searched during job interviews. An employer will look at your social media, looking for red flags that might cost them money or time. One person I used to work with refused to hire college age staff if they had too many red cup pictures, or group pictures with disposable cups (denoting that they drank often) or anything that she didn’t believe in personally, such as political stances and so on. Lots of it and info sec courses but also a ton of random stuff as well. They have sales all the damn time so it’s not hard to pick up a few for cheap. In addition check out humblebundle.com for cheap books. $15 will normally get you a collection of books on any subject. Lots of it stuff there too but they offer lots of other subjects. 5	What online course/program should I take? I second it security. Good job prospects, will be in high demand for years to come, combined with a military background you will have no trouble working in defense, and not as hard as it sounds. As for programs there are a few undergrads in the us that I’m aware of or masters degrees if you already have an undergrad. Plus traditional comp sci degrees.
