You should consider therapy, man. This isnt a healthy way to view yourself/relationships. The concept of "genetics" is being grossly abused here. You sound as if you're trying to practice a type of proto-eugenics in your dating life, with an observed "family history" of good looks being your only criteria for genetic health. No, this is not normal, and this will not yield good results for your children/family. Life is about far more than the maintenance of youthful beauty into your old age. I'm …

Of course. I am sure you're ok; I lift too. When done in moderation, ie, not every day, lifting lighter weights with more reps, it can be a vast improvement on cardiac health. It is only when you go beyond the realm of reasonable excercise and resistance training (like someone who abuses PEDs may be apt to do) that adverse affects on breathing and blood pressure are observed. If you're finding yourself struggling through pain to lift, and encountering considerable joint pain the next few days, y…

I didn't reference anything about weight training, because it's pretty well known lifting weights that are too heavy leads to high blood pressure, heart problems, etc. These effects are only amplified when compounded with ped use, with additional affects on the brain.

They didn't survive until they were old, typically. Natural selection kind of stops working after 40 or so, because the traits relevant to survival at that time have already been passed down to children. Excepting, of course, the grandparent hypothesis, which has a much slighter effect on selection. That's why we get old and die, and things like walking upright, which are very beneficial to us in youth, become plagues for us after middle adulthood.

Not peer reviewed, but you can easily find the studies cited in the article: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/253400.php We're not really supposed to put our bodies under that much stress long term

I mean, abusing PED could easily make you that 35-40 year old guy who's in poor health. I can see why your girlfriend is alarmed. SARMs have a long list of contraindications, side effects and long term effects, like liver disease, heart attack, stroke.. There's a reason they're banned. Big muscles don't make you healthy. Androgen receptor modulators dont make you healthy. You got that with lifting and exercise.

I really feel this, I feel like often on this sub I'm seeing men complain about women, not challenge their beleifs and think critically.

Yea I was curious, and checked out your comment history ... Ok Mr. "Female nature is much worse than male violence." You would know all about sexism, wouldn't you.

Examining and theorizing about biases from the observer is one of the essential tenants of science. The whole point of the scientific method is an attempt to weed out the bias inherent in the human condition. Hard disagree.

I'm mean, you're saying it to a woman right now. In real life. I know it's through a screen, but this is part of life, dude. You're being sexist, and that's fine or whatever, like I said, I deal with it, but you gotta realize that and own it. People are more perceptive than you think lol. Women can tell when you disrespect us. Gn.

I mean, you have a comment where you joke that women aren't people. I am unsurprised that you think women who talk about their experiences are fragile. And I'd be even more surprised of your sister and her friends dont see that as well, and maybe aren't as candid with you as you think. You don't seem as respectful of women as I believe you like to think you are. Peace man. I hope you check out the article I linked.

It's pretty cool that you've though to ask your sister and her friends about this. A lot of men don't think to. I'm a bit confused about your last paragraph though. If women are having problems in what you would judge to be a "ok" workplace, wouldnt that mean it's not ok? In a PEW research study, 78% of women said they've experienced sexism in the field, and 50% said it rose to the level of sexual harrassment. This seems very, very not ok and not, as you put it, "problems of their own." I think …

And you've facilitated conversations about this, and asked them specifically about their experience in STEM as women, or are you assuming because they generally seem happy with their studies and job? I ask this because I've noticed a lot of men just kind of assume things are ok, and think that if there was a problem it would be apparent to them, without recognizing that a lot of their acquaintances aren't really open about these things and it would be kind of weird for them to hear about these e…

Dude, there's nothing "erudite" about angry men grouping together to get furious over women who talk about mansplaining. Get over yourself. It is, however, dangerous. Like, quantifiably; there have been a lot of mass shooters who frequented incel forums and the like. That's why I try to provide counter arguments to these views, which I consider dangerous to women, like myself. On my terms. If you don't care for that, disengage.

I mean.. aren't you theorizing right now, by saying it's a welcoming environment for women, when in reality, you dont really know? And your theorizations are directly contradictory to, say, my lived experiences, and those of many other women. Either you dont believe us, or you've been explicity told the contrary by every woman you've encountered excepting myself. You should seek out some women who've written out their personal experiences in STEM, with not being taken seriously, not offered as m…

With respect, can you see how maybe you're not in the best or most objective position to judge that, because you're not a woman and therefore wouldn't be likely to see harrassment, exclusion or sexism, be on the receiving end of it, notice it or even hear of it? Again, tho, I dont know you or your company. It may be the exception, which would be pretty awesome.

I should hope you have worked with women 😂 But oftentimes, things companies do that on the surface make them seem very welcoming to women, are often done to protect a company from litigation and are not really reflective of actual corporate culture or women's experiences within those companies. Of course, your company may be the exception, and truly be awesome, I dont know you. I am simply speaking from my experience and the general trend of STEM attitudes towards women.

Yea... having to read these strange, rambling rants with angry misogynistic buzzwords is the type of shit I try to avoid. Dude asked where blue pill people went. I answered, to places that aren't so toxic. Chill. Edit: I repeated the word "read" 😂

Are you a woman? Because our experiences are probably quite different.

Honestly? As a woman in stem, I find myself having to put up with it nearly every day. So while I do think online debates are fun, sometimes it's just a little too reflective of the times I've been talked down to, been harrassed, etc in my real life to stomach. I've put up with misogyny my whole life. How much I'm willing to expose myself to it varies.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/08/19 02:55 AM

As a woman, it kind of hurts to encounter so much misogyny, which is very present in a lot of debate based subs like this. It's exhausting, and pointless to some extent, trying to argue my humanity with people who think I'm inferior or hugely different from them because of the way I was born. I think you'd encounter more people willing to answer your questions about feminism on r/askfeminists , or something similar, but you're going to have to do it on their terms, and respectfully, which is har…

I think it means that perceived "good," "average," and even "bad" looks are very, very subjective, and that "rating" doesn't really work well except as a category in your head to filter through strictly your own experience

Ohh my gosh yes!! If you enjoy video essays at all, you should check out the video "Born Sexy Yesterday" by pop culture detective, he talks about how this fetish is represented in media. It's really informative and imo entertaining. I'll link the vid if anyone wants it. https://youtu.be/0thpEyEwi80

People who want partners this young fetishize them specifically BECAUSE of their inexperience. They are looking for someone to groom and dominate. It's kind of gross how men like this cannot conceive of someone wanting a healthy relationship. Going by their usual "it's biology, bro" argument doesn't even make sense here, because historically women have usually gotten their menses around 16-17, before calories and nutrients were mass produced and readily available, and birth before 20 has some se…

I'm really sorry to hear that. If you don't mind, were there any things you found around interrupting negative self talk, "thought interventions," if you will, that helped you recover from it? Thank you.

Having a kinky fantasy that bends social mores doesn't mean you want that to happen in real life.

I am very sorry that happened to you. I have also been through less traumatic but still technical sexual assault-being groped on the bus, being felt up while dancing. This was different. I went into a little bit more detail in the post I mentioned. But they were holding me against a wall and I was crying, this wasn't a casual ass grab at a party.

This may have been the case with him, but he was more manipulativley charming rather than relying on his looks to get by if my memory serves. Most people he met thought he had a great personality. Funny, volunteered, real stand up guy. Etc etc.

Just saying, I absolutely hated being "hunted down" by him, in fact it affects me to this day even though he was attractive and charming.

I mean, that's a sweeping generalization. I think periods of social unrest and genocide being compared to a stable society is a disingenuous comparison. Violent social change is inherently violent, that's a given. But other types of social change have brought about positive and palliative measures. And societies can foster violent or problematic beleifs while still falling short of being mad max style violent anarchism. If men can control themselves within a social structure, isnt that kind of p…

Thank you! I think this is kind of funny-I actually used to assisstant teach self defense class at a dojo, a class I was attending regularly around the time of my assault. 😂 Sexual assault is different than a lot of people imagine it to be. Think of Terry Cruise, for instance. I did find that going to class was good for healing though. I think it probably would be helpful to go back, it's very empowering to have control over your own body. Edit: spelled "Terry crews" wrong

I'd like to push back on the "emotional response" assumption, I do not want to be misunderstood. I made a crude analysis of OPs language to guess at his perception of women. I was not affected by it personally or emotionally. I found it creepy in a detached way, in that I think the mindset itself is creepy. They're words on the internet and they cannot hurt me. As for the opinions on socializion and sociobiology, we will I think have to agree to disagree. Edited for poor word choice

I mean I have also been told this. When you hear "Men need to be the ones to ask women out," women perceive and hear, too, we are hearing that also.

Thank you for your condolences, forreal, I'm not just being polite, they mean a lot. To answer your question, yes. I've thought about it a lot. And I've felt guilt over not doing anything to stand in the way of a predator's rise to success. But given the details of what has happened to me, (drunk, at a house party, and we had kissed before) and the length of time it has been since it happened, there's no lawyer in the world who would take my case. And no DA in the country who would prosecute. Go…

This is kind of a vulnerable thing for me to admit so please be gentle. But I was sexually assaulted by someone who was popular and handsome. I actually just made a post about it, and am on this sub because it is fresh in my mind. I think a lot of your perceptions of women have come from places of personal hurt and projection, not from speaking to and listening to actual women.

Oh gosh, plenty of people. In predominantly indirect ways. It probably started when I was 12, and the leader on the church youth trip banned bikinis because we wouldn't "want people to think the young ladies are there for the wrong reasons." But probably, in a lot of ways you're getting "told" you must be the pursuer. Through TV, movies, stories, books, how out peers and authority figures act and the things they say to us, the social script is imprinted on us.

That does make me feel better. I think that's better wording for what OP is trying to convey, however, I still note the language because i think it betrays a mimdset that is... kind of creepy to me, as an SA survivor. I don't think anyone can in good faith answer the second part of your comment. I study biology at school, and evobio is often invoked in debates like these and used to justify social situations that are not necessarily proportionate to the biological difference that is being examin…

Your premise is faulty. You said "If male sexuality is predatory-" but we are telling you that it is not, and those who use it that way are wrong to do so. You seem to be straw-manning a common feminist hypothesis about how toxic masculinity can affect, cripple and warp male sexuality. Many women, like myself, feel fine pursuing men and women. And do not expect that men be the ones who ask them out, or pursue them. However, many women, and I felt this way once too, are made to feel ashamed for f…

You talk about predators and prey. But male sexuality is not predatory. Using that sexuality as a means to assert power can be. You have to realize, and I'm scared that you don't, that these metaphors are destructive, and frightening. Predators and prey are different species. Their existence within a closed space are fundamentally incompatible. I am not a peice of meat, nor does putting on makeup mean I am presenting myself as one. It feels good to be attractive, to be desired, not only sexually…

Teens are sexual beings. They're exploring that, and learning about themselves and their presentation. It's fine for teens to be sexual with themselves and each other. It's not ok for mature adults to take advantage.

Honestly? I think it's pretty creepy to be fantasizing about an 18 year old, as well. When you do that, you've lived an entire HALF of their life once over, and you're fetishizing that. It's about fetishizing a skewed power dynamic, and it's alarming.

Exactly, you dont have to be a woman to recognize the problem, because even if you don't experience it, women would tell you what happens to us. Except we're telling you now. And you're just straight up refusing to believe it..
