I think Queer Theory/Studies may have something to do with the use of the word. My teacher had us quickly run through the movements of New Historicism, Psychoanalytic, etc... And I think one was Queer Theory (this is in regards to critical viewpoints used to view literature through). I also think he went over why they stuck with that phrasing, but I forget now. He was a gay man who was deeply into gender and 'queer' studies. I'm on my phone so it's hard to look up.

I'd say males are encouraged to pursue athletics, and are given more financial support/funding in at least college. Although I think Title IX lessened that gap edit: i'm not saying that's an awful thing, but just a privilege. i am a man

it is dumb IMO. unless you are financially set--which let's be honest, isn't the case for nearly any 23 yo i know--it isn't that great of an idea. but hey, if you are, go for it
