I don't mean that literally the people making the films are women, I mean that it's very clear that at this point, the majority of film creation and marketing is targeted to women, and yet women in Hollywood continue to act like it's not. How people could continue to moan about a lack of female anything in an era where Hunger Games and 50 Shades of Grey are two of the biggest franchises ... it's absurd. And yet, every time one of these films comes up, it's like the past 20-50 years never happene…

As I said elsewhere, I disagree with her, but I like that people do this sort of thing. They know the Oscars are prime water-cooler convo producers and they speak their mind, and if what they have to say is interesting, the rest of us talk about it, too. Except she said something proveably wrong, so this is a win for the community.

Not a fan of what she said, but I don't mind soap-boxing at the Oscars so much. To me, this is a great opportunity to discuss why she's wrong. I bet we get an influx of people coming to this subreddit, interested in what she had to say and why she said it, in the next few weeks.

That was hilarious. It's like how JK Rowling, a woman who is literally richer than the Queen of England, only focuses on needy women.

Do you mean politician-wise? Because in a two-party system, politicians have to swallow some crap to say what they want. It's like how you can't get a politician who is conservative to be real about abortion or marijuana. Regardless of how they feel, they need to toe the party line. It's disgusting, but it's the system. Check out anywhere outside the US and you'll find plenty of liberals who are anti-feminist.

In most cases, it's the agent's fault, regardless of gender. Women generally care more about how they are perceived, so it wouldn't surprise me if they tend to shy away from negotiating (they also assume people will be nice to them, because usually people are, because women are assumed to be "innocent"). Given how feminist/woman-run hollywood is, I think it's safe to say that if women are being paid less, it is mostly by other women.

They're all manosphere links, you're in safe hands here, haha. I recommend the second to last one the most, it sums up the characters.

You haven't heard of Girls? Allow me to introduce you to the show a woman's hamster would write if it could.

I highly doubt she's doing this for any reason of artistic or realistic expression. It's about money. If Lena Dunham's finances were at all connected with how much people want to see her naked, she'd be worth -$4,000,000.00. She's doing it because she's not aware of this fact and believes men are watching, drooling at her fine body, when in fact women who are fatter and uglier than she is are watching, drooling over the fact that men would drool over their bodies.

I think gay men divorcing will change things too because there will have to be a discussion about the children and child support. It won't automatically be "the mom" who gets them. Maybe the more flamboyant one? I don't know.

like scream-really-loud, get-drunk, and eat-gratuitous-carbohydrates angry Ha! Typical. When I get angry I get motivated.

This is what I was thinking. Here's a relatively attractive woman who styles her hair and wears make-up. I'm sure she gets a mini hate boner every time she gets stared at; she knows she looks good. When she no longer looks good (or if she gets fat after popping a couple of kids), she'll take to tumblr about how men need to treat women equally and hit on the ugly ones too.

This varies wildly based on your area. In my old town, it seemed like my options were trying out for the Rebel Wilson lookalike contest, but in my new city, there are a lot more women so a lot more variety. You still need to dig, but I've probably met IRL eight women through OKCupid since I moved here last March, five of whom were well worth my time.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
