I don't know. It's only a high school quiz show, there is probably no legislation regarding how to conduct such a show.

It's already one of the most popular shows on Icelandic television and has been for decades, plus it's on the national television funded by taxpayers so ratings are not as important as on private stations. In fact, if the show was on a privately owned network they could do whatever the hell they wanted and nobody could say anything. But because it's on national TV, that creates the controversy.

The quiz has always had 3 members from each school since it inception, it's not going to change now. The three students who score the highest on the admission test should make the team regardless of sex.

It would probably be like Norway before the oil wealth, that is a very peaceful country with high quality of living, much like Sweden or Denmark.

It's more that the international media are creating sensationalist stories based on the words of one crackpot politician who will no longer be in office after the coming elections next month. Seriously, imagine every time Michelle Bachmann says something stupid the international media would report it like "The United States wants to ban homosexuality". Source: I'm from Iceland.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
