As a makeup enthusiast who follows that sub I was immediately disgusted when I saw that post. Why do people think this is funny or endearing? I'm just enraged on her behalf

Absolutely no need to be sorry for your "rambling", it's exactly for situations like this that the sub was created for. I can't give you any practical advice since I lack the life experience to do so, but I'm certain other members will help you tremendously and I want to salute you in advance for recognizing the signs and for already being in the process of mentally preparing yourself to leave. I can't imagine what you must be going through, I just know that you can do this (even if I have no id…

I once went on a few dates with a hedge fund manager. I thought he was too good to not be a catfish, but turns out he was real (and probably just looking for easy sex). As some other users pointed out, there are LOTS of engineers here too (usually working in IT, who also look like they were the stereotypical outcast inc*ls in college).

I broke things off with my ex and when he was already dating his now girlfriend he was still liking bitter stuff on twitter that were clearly about us. The most shocking thing is that he still has a public playlist on Spotify with my name, with almost 3 hours of romantic and sad breakup songs, available for the whole world to see. They seem very happy from the pictures she posts, but I can't help but find this uncanny... The fact that playlist is still public (not even private!) completely boggl…

Orthorexia is a thing indeed, but yeah, if I were American like OP I'd insist on a strict clean diet too. I'm south European so I follow the mediterranean diet. I don't mind indulging in "bad" foods from time to time, but again, the difference in portion sizes and calories between Europe and America is scary.

This is a topic that speaks close to me (and I assume it's the same for a lot of you ladies here). My mom got her life (literally) ruined by a mama's boy and his mother. I almost made the same mistake, but I learnt from her experience. I'm still trying to navigate the grief of losing him though, because if it weren't for his family in general (not only his mom, although she plays the bigger part) and his small hometown we would have been truly happy :(

This is so spot on. While I'm fortunate my ex is a good person overall, he dropped out of college yet all his serious ex girlfriends have university degrees/are about to get them. I actually ended the relationship for the second time when we tried to give it another shot because, despite loving him deeply, I knew I couldn't risk getting lower grades by being in a relationship, especially with someone who wasn't also in university (thus not understanding the struggle of academic and personal life…

This semester I met a guy from uni (we weren't dating) who would - I'm not exaggerating - send me about 10/15 texts in a row. He also said he loved me on the second day we were talking, and when he knew I was going to a party he wanted a mirror selfie to show my outfit plus a text to let him know if I had arrived home safely. I did NOT find it cute, I found it fucking creepy. Outfit selfies and "I'm home" texts are for my boyfriend and close friends ONLY. I never intended on dating him, but he i…

My two closest friends are a prime example of how the relationship status doesn't change their personality. One is happily married to a HVM, the other has been on a healing journey and has finally blossomed into the amazing woman she was always meant to be. She's been in a relationship for a few months now and because this time the guy actually matches her worth it's like she's shining even brighter. She was happy by herself, but he makes her even happier and that reflects on her other interacti…

I was dating this guy from uni for only 2 weeks. We weren't even boyfriend and girlfriend, and he was already showing huge red flags, one of them being scolding me over everything I say like I'm a misbehaved child. The last straw was when we were walking around campus and I mentioned my creepy male teacher from freshman year standing near us. Instead of listening, he said I shouldn't "talk like that about people". That man IS a certified creep and every girl from my major can atest that, BOY BYE…

"As the courtship progresses?" I'll only cook for a man once we're in a well established relationship. Some ladies here would even go as far as say they'll only cook when they're married. It's not our job to chase them, especially before commitment.

My biggest harasser in high school, for three whole years, was a Muslim refugee. When I finally snapped and told him he couldn't treat me like shit like he's used to do with women from his home country (which is also wrong, and I said that), I got suspended for "xenophobia". Lovely.

This happens earlier in college as well. I once had a project with a guy and when I arrived to our meeting his girlfriend, who's not even in our major, let alone our university (!), had already set up the structure of our presentation. More recently I was on a Zoom class and the teacher asked if we knew any Marketing concepts. This girl says that she's quite knowledgeable on the subject because she had helped her boyfriend (from another major) in his essays and prepping for exams... Just imagine…

Some scrotes in my country's sub legit said FDS advocating for women's standards (such as not wanting short men - the original post on that sub was about hEiGhTiSm) promotes the abuse of men lol (that they, and very conveniently, only care about when violence against women is discussed).

I was that dream girl, that 10/10 that supposedly made him change without me ever trying to. I felt on top of the world. Guess what? He left me too. That "The One" thing is a trap to make us compete and hate each other over a LVM mommy's boy and college dropout (case of my ex). I refuse to let a man define my value (even in a supposedly positive way) like that again.

I have an "empath" female acquaintance. She's an ally for a bunch of causes, but also the most classist person I've ever met who gives people back-handed compliments based on their possessions. Same here! My city is right by the sea and it's one of the most expensive to live in Europe. It's impossible to buy a place here, but I don't wanna stay anyway. I'm afraid climate change will give us a bigger earthquake and tsunami than the historical ones in 1755.

Right? I stopped trusting everyone - even the friends that never disappointed me - because I felt that I was the pity case for my other friends that I eventually dropped. The demisexual part is SO spot on! I matched with some scrote like that who had the audacity to ask me for the dreaded walk in the park """date""". Fun fact: this episode happened during summer 2019, when FDS had recently launched (this is a new account, but I'm proud to say I've been here for quite some time eheh), and I was still a huge pick-me, but it was one of the first times I put my FDS knowledge in action!

Exactly! He doesn't understand social cues whatsoever. I'm not trying to justify his behavior in any way since I hate him, but he lacks boundaries with everyone. It's an embarrassment and I'm sad I can't even think of one redeeming quality. My NVM's father car once broke down in a street when I was with him. He was trying to fix it when he decided to ask a woman (who was in her car) to help him. She agreed (while still in the car) but once he wasn't looking she drove off. I don't think she saw me, and I wish I could have done something (I was 20 at the time) but I'm scared of my father myself. He was SO angry that she dared not help him. Great post! The FDS journey really is an on-going process, at least for me, and this just made me put things more in perspective. Although I like to think I've ditched most of my overall pick-me tendencies, I must admit that I'm still a huge victim of keep-me mentality once I get in a relationship.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I'm sorry. I almost made the same mistake - my ex asked me if I would hypothetically move to a small town if it meant a good career opportunity for him (but not for me lol) and my love-bombed clown ass almost considered it. I'm so scared to ever commit that mistake that now I'm fully focusing on my education.

I just started avoiding dating talk all together. Everyone assumes I'm jealous and bitter because I can't get the treatment I want when, in fact, I got materially spoiled (which everyone knows is a non-negotiable standard of mine) by my ex all the time (he's still a LVM and we broke up because of other reasons). I've even had an ex friend literally telling me "He already did [pick me]", in response to me telling her "I hope he picks you" when she was trying to defend her LVM fuck buddy who would…

There's a subgenre of guys like this in my country (I'm south european). They are heavily influenced by reality tv and dating tv shows, where the straight men are surprisingly groomed to the point that it gets kinda weird, at least for me. I want a man that takes good care of himself, but I don't want him to spend more time doing his hair than me lmao 😭

My gay ex roommate was obese, but he cared about being well groomed and always used a nice smelling aftershave/cologne. He was also genuinely sweet and helped me when I was living abroad because he was also an immigrant. I think he was single, but he seemed like a hard-working person. He would rarely leave the house except for work, though :( I hope he gets to be happy

I wish them the best too, but it enrages me that they don't stand the idea of being miserable alone. They shame and resent us because they know we're doing something right and they're too afraid, for whatever reason, so they want us to stay pick-mes.

The first thing that came to my mind when I read about your former co-worker was that he refused to meet up in public because women would probably leave when they saw how short and unattractive he is. He preys them into coming to his place so they can't escape (makes sense with the weightlifting part). It's a defense mechanism. They know it's not a good deal for them and that if he wanted to commit he would've already, so they mask it with a better sounding term. And then there's the girls who call their boyfriends "hubby" or some variation just because they cohabitate 🤢 No ma'am, that's a whole roommate you have right there. Out of jokes, while I'm a Twitter gf myself I will NEVER date a man who has a Twitter account again. Ugh, I can relate. Although my story is nowhere near as tragic as yours (hugs to you 💓), I too opened up to my LVM ex too soon. He was so caring and so sweet... He would never hurt me, right? So I confided in him how my other ex before him had broken my heart. What did he do? He played me even worse and left me in a spiral of depression and anorexia. It was truly the worst point in my life and for that I will never forgive him.

You're not overreacting! And please, PLEASE don't take him back/ask him to take you back. You know you did the right thing, even if it feels like you're dying inside. I know, I've been there too.

My ex told me he loved me less than a week after our first date 🤡 On the third date he was already asking me to be his girlfriend 🤡🤡🤡

If you don't like me, don't date me. YES! Pick-mes love to tell me "you're not entitled to a man's money".... Well he isn't entitled to date me either! It's the FDS way or no way 🙅🏻‍♀️

It's even worse when the trope of pick-me female friends agree with him 🤢

You're right 😅 Well, Jennie's part is great regardless. And her song "Solo" is a FDS anthem for sure!

Blackpink's "Lovesick Girls" is also great! "Didn't wanna be a princess, I'm priceless, a prince not even on my list"

The opposite actually happened to me! My father is a textbook NVM, but when my mom wanted to give me the same name as his ex girlfriend (she didn't know) he refused because it made him uncomfortable. It was actually my mom who insisted, so my middle name is the same as my father's ex. He didn't want it, though

"Does this app work?" He obviously didn't get any matches (I wonder why) and blames the app. Classic.

I'm sorry, sis. Eating disorders are fucked up. And yes, it is indeed a huge red flag if they disregard my boundaries around food. I would never tell a man about my ED, though. FDS has taught me how to protect myself; I will NEVER give a man again the power of knowing too much about me. I did it in my last relationship, by telling my ex what my former ex did to me, and he played me even worse.

A lot of men have literally told me they want to feed me because I'm skinny. It disgusts me because I love my body and worked really hard for it. I may be paranoid because of my ED, but whenever they come at me with the "I gotta give you a lot of yummy food!" line it fucking irks me. It's not cute, I don't want to gain weight and even if I did it wouldn't be because of your desire to feed me.

Sis not the quoting The Office part 😭😭 That's literally my LVM ex lmao

So she's apparently his dream girl, yet the best plan that occurs to him to take this girl on a "date" is coffee and a walk in the park. Right...

When I used OLD I had my instagram account on my bio (big mistake, I'm aware now). Because of that I would receive a lot of unwanted DMs from delusional ugly guys who didn't match with me. One day I got a DM from an apparently cute guy, but a quick search through his profile let me find out he was 31. I'm 22 years old and my age limit is set to 26 years old, so not only did this clown lie about his age on Tinder (what other way would he find my profile?), but he also told me that it wasn't a pro…

They want an ego boost to gather the courage to approach their dream girl. No thank you, I refuse to be a part of that narrative.

To increase their followers and look like they have a harem. I never follow guys back because of that reason

Back when I didn't know any better I went on a park "date" with an ugly scrote who told me I was only a 6/10 because I looked thinner in my photos. This was in 2018 but it was still one of the triggers for the ed I developed in the beggining of this year which got me to a 15.6 BMI this summer (I'm on recovery now). You're not alone, sis 💗 May karma get them what they deserve.

I saw the Twitter thread and the comments are full of pick-mes defending him and saying he's probably autistic. I NEVER see this energy when it comes to neurodivergent women, they're just "weird"

Unfortunately it is. Back in my pick-me days when I was 17 I found it so sexy when my boyfriend said my name because he had trouble saying it claiming it was too "intimate" 💀 YIKESSS

When I was in primary school there was a kid who would harass me every single day. The other kids and even the teacher herself (!) compactued with it and I cried every day. The excuse was always "he picks on you because he likes you". It only stopped when my mom went to school and scared the sh*t out of the boy telling him to leave me alone. PS: I created a new account but I've been on here for quite some time, could someone please assign me the FDS newbie flair? 😊💓
