I volunteered for a Women's Resource Center for quite some time, and those were the numbers quoted to me, which I clearly should have taken with a grain of salt. The point I was trying to make, however, was more that false accusations of rape devalue the real and traumatic experiences for actual sexual assault victims. -4	Serial false accuser racks up her fourth false rape claim at age 21, her third this year Besides the obvious horror of destroying the accused's life forever, often regardless of an actual conviction, it cheapens the validity of real rape cases. Only 2% of reported sexual assaults are fabricated, but it begs the question of how many real victims are effected by that 2%, adding to the fear of coming forward and not being believed.
