That's just not true a tall. For one, presentation is important for determining whether someone is even good looking or not. Obviously a naturally stunning woman is going to look good. But that's the exception There are plenty of women who look what someone might consider "below average" yet looks amazing with a bit of eye makeup and her hair done deliberately. Perhaps even to accentuate her cuteness.

I literally made fun of one example that is NOTHING like what you said. I even made the weight difference like comically large so no one would be confused. So to be clear. all evidence seems to indicate that Depp was the victim here. that's not how it works. For one, two bits of evidence can contradict each other. THat doesn't mean it's not evidence. If you find 2 bits of info that contradict you don't just throw one of them out. You research to figure out what's going on. The new info does suggest that it's very likely that Amber was physically abusive. Depp being physically abusive also is still possible.

Lets say a cancer has a 100% mortality rate at 90. That's an insane mortality rate. but how many people even get there? BReast cancer kills more women that are younger. Prostate cancer does kill men early, but most of the example in these statistics are people that get it later in life. And die with it. And i mean if cancer is what finally kills you when you're 85 then that sucks, but if you didn't have cancer then it'd probably be something else that killed you the next year.

I think /u/ShortPantsStorm is just trying to clarify some stuff. We see crazy stats like "60% of men get prostate cancer" which is absolutely insane! but most of those men are older men who with zero treatment will not have any effect on their life. They'll die with slightly worse prostate cancer, but not because of it.

Any sub that revolves around negatives just tends to become even more negative. Fatpeoplelogic and subs like that used to be pretty shitty places but it was more about pointing out hypocrisy. Then as it got bigger it turned into straight up hate.

Oh and arent like 75% of primary/kindergarten teachers female? Part of the reason this happens is because it's one of the lower paying professions. When women were introduced to the workforce men all went towards the higher paying jobs if they could. The jobs when were able to get were like teachers and assistants. And nurses back when that was just basically a doctor's assistant.

It depends. At that point you're closer to a debugger/developer than support. You may be helping, but the job is basically a developer at that point. And realistically, some support can be cutting edge. Most isn't. This is coming from someone with a STEM degree, I don't think they're bad degrees at all. I just think the comment was over the top. It didn't say potential for cutting edge, it said you were.

Exactly, As an example to add to your point. If a welder had twins, daughter and son, and they're both young. I'd almost guarantee the boy is encouraged to watch dad while the daughter is encouraged to read or do something girly. The son is then bought his fisher price welding set and does welding with daddy. While the daughter is bought a coloring book.

Teh sexism here is ingrained in society, not in just sexist comments. We have fewer women interested in math and science as they're pushed towards arts and more girly stuff from a young age. Girls read, boys do math and sports. This is then reinforced all though school until they go to college. When in college, no one cares what classes you pick, but you have far more men interested in STEM. Then you've got a comp sci major with 200 men and 9 girls. It's possibly easier to break stereotypes as a male. FOr example people take men's words more seriously, and they're often seen as smarter when saying the exact same thing as a woman. Also, i'd bet there's a lot more normal woman in nursing than normal men in STEM classes. Nerds are weird. ANd i say that as a STEM grad.
