Amused mastery. If I am upset about something, being treated like a willful child will NOT diffuse the situation, it will make it worse. Far better to try getting me to lighten up with a simple reminder that I don't have leprosy, so it can't be that bad. Funny is good, dismissive in an attempt to be "funny" is a fucking road to perdition. Flirting with other girls makes you more attractive: no, not if we're dating. That just makes me question your motives and, even if I am really into you, I'm g…

I think each gender has unique challenges. In the world of work (at least in my field), being a woman is a distinct disadvantage due to benevolent and not so benevolent sexism. Since career is important to me, I have to put in a lot of extra effort that's not expected of my male colleagues in order to excel and be taken seriously. That is not to say men don't have work related challenges, but it's a pretty big factor that negatively affects a lot of women who choose aggressive and fast paced car…

First off, who has it "better" has to do with resources, not gender. Poor white dude vs rich white girl? Yeah, girl's going to have it easier. In general, there are definitely downsides to being female, such as not being taken seriously at work, being worried about sexual assault (cabeat men have this concern as well), being limited in expression or face negative social consequences (and again, men deal with this too). Bottom line is that everyone struggles to some degree, those who are "on top"…

I don't know, most women don't feel like gods, anymore than men do. There are arrogant members in each gender. You have a very skewed viewpoint on the downsides (and there are downsides) to being a woman. Not being taken as seriously at work, having to deal with a whole culture that assumes that if you're sexually active you're damaged, having people like you get all bitter and hateful toward you, and loads of other things besides. I am not saying that men have it perfect either, I think each ge…

In my own life, dating an RP type dude was the most awful, dramatic and painful experiences of my life. He got dumped hard, evidently was way more into me than he let on, but I'd rather hike 1000 miles without shoes than give that dude the time of day again. He was a right asshole and his RP behaviors were extremely hurtful and pointless and caused what could have been a decent relationship to spiral out of control into a fucking nightmare

Positive, especially "boyfriend material" because it implies that the dude is attractive and has his shit together (my preferred sort of dude by far). Would make a great husband...this one is creepy to me because, frankly, one can't know that unless one has dated and ltred such a dude for some time. I don't see the former as decoupled from sexual attraction at all

Oh dear, another post stating blindingly obvious stuff and chalking it up to RP truth. Wow, so impressed /s

Not unrealistic per se, but definitely less likely than a girl preferring someone a few years older. A 10 year age gap can trigger a girl's friend group into high alert, and that often leads to a lot of discussion about how he's only in it for sex or is less than honorable in his intentions. I think RP vastly underestimates the barriers for entry in such relationships

1 once or twice, mostly after LTRs gone wrong and just wanting to not deal with the hassle. 2 no, sleeping around and sleeping with multiple people at the same time has never appealed to me. 3 one college boyfriend rebuffed me in this way, but it was an LTR and he didn't want to get "more serious". Big learning experience for me. I think it happens from time to time, especially with inexperienced women. 4 see answer above, though in that case we were dating exclusively, but I have concluded it w…

Yeah no. Getting publicity on breitbart is how she made cash. Plain and simple it's the same crew as always, showering her with cash because she's pandering to them.

Yeah I think so. People have this nifty way of noticing when you (even quietly) dislike them or spend your time manipulating them. At least insightful people notice. Anyway take last the hatey ranting and passive aggressive bs, then you'd have a shot with a larger percentage of women, including those intelligent enough to realize that they're not being treated respectfully

Yes, and it was awkward. I am competitive and ambitious, plus not very invested in girlie things. My brother is sensitive and not traditionally manly. It was hard for both of us, and both of our feelings haven't much changed in adulthood.

The whole premise, I.e. that all women are handed life on a silver platter, is flawed. Before even touching the top layer you have to examine the underpinnings of the argument, which in this case are completely false

No not that either. You're being a dramatic little hooligan. Women have specific problems that men don't have. Men have specific problems women don't have. Some people are spoiled, and lots of people (looking at you) enjoy feeling like victims. It's your life but I'm of the strong opinion that victimhood is a weakass personal narrative and indicates a stunning lack of character. But hey, what do I know, I'm a woman and have had my whole life delivered on a silver platter lined with diamond studd…

I agree, it's pretty obvious to me that women feel they "need" sex less often than men. I do think RP are inclined to be whiny little bitches about it though. They have annoyingly strong desires for sex, woe is them. I have annoyingly uncomfortable periods, but you don't see me hating on men because they don't get cramps.

You have not a clue what it's like to be a woman. You may think it's all roses and sunshine but there's shit we have to worry about that you don't. And vice versa. Going on anti-woman tangents cause you feel oppressed strikes me as evidence of exceedingly poor character

Gosh, what typical female centric thinking. Boys aged 7 to 10 would die for a chance to have grown dicks thrown at them. Sexual predation? Naw, just like the ultimate in female privilege! And.../s

Wow, yeah sounds like you've had crappy experiences and are extrapolating like crazy. That's too bad for you but probably better for the hapless women who might actually want to make your embittered ass happy. Women can suck, sure. So can men. Get over that or don't, but don't assume that because you haven't met a woman who genuinely wants her partner to be happy means they don't exist. That's just more nails in the coffin for your romantic prospects

RP does not align with my reality, so I reject it pretty much across the board. You suppose that your "truth" is the one and only truth. IMO, lots of other methods work for getting satisfaction and they're not rooted in cynicism toward others and navel gazing self help crap. So no it doesn't shatter my reality, it fills me with pity for those who think that RP is emblematic of the one true path to pussy

False. Character changes over time, and sex is not really correlated with ethical behavior in itself. As long as we're talking about consensual sex with adequate transparency, it means nothing when gauging someone's ethical compass. Some promiscuous people do engage in unethical behavior in order to get laid, but as long as they're not lying, cheating, or otherwise bending the golden rule, you can't really measure someone's strength of character based on n count. Applies equally to men and women

Strong agreement, this isn't about female bickering as OP states, but a genuine workplace problem that needs some polish. It's amazing to me that some (definitely not all) parents capitalize on that status to obtain a better work life balance that's not available to workers without children.

Mbti is total crap, only reserved for corporate HR departments at this point, no serious personality researcher bothers with it because people test differently under different circumstances. How on earth would you know that. Edit: in reality of course some women love big cock, but at that point (8-9) you're talking about something most women would find to be painful. You watch too much porn

Yeah there is one friend in particular that comes to mind. The dude is well dressed, flirty in a nondominant way, funny as hell, and moderately (though not extremely) handsome. He's confident but not braggy at all. Is warm and considerate to all women, and very open with the fact that he's not giving out commitment. He is, in short, the perfect blend of Natural alpha and beta. Oh and he's well educated and traveled, but again he's not a braggart, just charming and funny. Does not lift.

Listen well, and adopt some odd, nonchick hobbies. For example, I make beer and I'm into some very esoteric science stuff. It helps fuel conversation, and as a bonus those are arenas where there are more men looking for dates. Makers are the best, also that way you end up dating men who are actually invested in their hobbies and passions, and these skills are useful. Give me an amateur roboticist or expert Brewer any day of the week before a dudebro who is boring as fuck

Science doesn't agree with you on this. Dudes report higher relationship satisfaction with women that they deem to be seen as hot shit by others. This doesn't mean girls who are sluts. It'd be more true if you said "other men think she's hot, but she's only hot for ME"

Hey as for the diamond ring...there's a wonderful freakonomics episode that explains this social phenomena, and how it's entirely manufactured, as is the idea of diamonds having intrinsic value. A bit off topic but it's wicked interesting that the diamond engagement ring was an invented need that debiers pushed (successfully) so as to actually create a market for the damn things. During the depression, the diamond ring almost completely vanished from the prenuptial phase, for obvious reasons

My bf and I split, he pays for one, I pay for the next, or we just get separate checks. This has been the case for years. Our first date, he asked if he could take me out to dinner, I let him pay in that instance because it was clear that he wanted to. I paid for our after dinner drinks to show how him that I'm not one of those women who expects to be wined and dined. It works well.

Women's liberation is not destroying society by any stretch of the imagination. Our problems, such as they are (and some of them are dire) are caused by other factors. Declining marriage rates, sheesh who fucking cares. As for a few unhappy men, yeah it sucks and I feel a little bad for them not getting what they want, but the good of the many outweighs the good of the few, so it's kinda tough titties that you don't automatically get a sex slave just because you have a cock. This reminds me of a moment a couple weeks ago when I went to buy my 4k TV (heart it). I figure your odds (I mean the general you) of being on par with Picasso are slim to nil. Most men are not Casanovas to a degree that they can fuck around and still have the commitment of a high value woman. Even the hottest celebrities end up in LTRs, and those often dissolve because of cheating by either party. So yeah, telling dudes to shoot for Picasso level competency is a setup if they also want a woman who is sexually faithful to him.

Nah I'm perfectly happy in my LTR and know exactly what I admire about my dude. Was curious to see if RP dudes have the insight into themselves that they claim. I didn't mean to say all women are inclined to be loyal, but some of them are because it's a part of their moral compass. As for "voluntary lack of options" I think you're taking a bridge too far because attraction can be damaged by someone acting like they don't love you (ie overtly flirting with other women in an attempt to increase attraction).

I absolutely disagree that women in general don't value loyalty (as in, they are inherently inclined to be loyal, not just that they expect it from others). This is one of the portions of awalt that's just dead wrong.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 08:01 PM

That's a good answer. I think in situations like these it's best to decide before committing, and if circumstances change and that agreement doesn't hold, you need to split

I didn't say undying, unconditional loyalty. I mean that, as long as you're getting your needs met (or have a reasonable expectation of such, most of the time), you are loyal..it's pretty simple and most people would say they want that in an LTR
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 07:51 PM
2

Yes this right here. Some people provide out of social expectation, or a desire to be pandered to, or to dominate others, and loyalty doesn't have the first thing to do with it
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 07:49 PM
1

Hm, I see them as different things, but related. For example, everybody has parents, and most of the time parents act as providers for their kids. But that doesn't always line up with loyalty. Some people do provide for selfish reasons and are disloyal when it suits them. So no, I don't really presume that "loyal" falls under the umbrella of "provider"
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 07:48 PM
1

Oh, surely I agree with you, that's not what I meant. I do think, however, that it's valuable for men to be able to discuss that amongst themselves, especially if they're men who want to improve themselves and are looking for inspiration or what have you.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 07:44 PM
3

I would love to see a TRP post on overcorrection, I think it's worth talking about for those who are lost in the woods and just so damn thirsty/angry that they push perfectly good prospects away by overdoing stuff like dread. I understand playing hard to get and all that, but I believe some of the strategies designed to hook a girl can easily blow up in a dude's face (I.e. lots of drama and bullshit), which then reinforces the dim view lots of TRP dudes have toward women
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 07:40 PM
1

Yeah I'm pretty sure we like loads of that :)
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 07:35 PM
3

Fair enough, dicks and money it is then
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 07:34 PM
1

I asked because a lot of TRP material encourages behaving in a way that could easily be interpreted as disloyal behavior, and then it's often justified by, well women don't care about fidelity they only care about having a playerstud
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 07:22 PM
4

That's awfully recursive and also does not look at the reality that women are not simply validation seeking animals. All people want to be validated, some women desperately NEED validation, but the high quality ones are those that are secure enough to not constantly think of who they can attract as the end all of their value. At least that's my opinion
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 07:05 PM
3

That's it? Really? So women just care about cash and stability? Surely you jest. Sure, an older woman who wants a family or feels desperate might settle for that and that alone, but an interesting, TRP bona fide "high quality woman" is going to want more than a stable income
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 06:47 PM
2

That makes perfect sense. I just get baffled when I go on mrp and see active dread horror stories, because I reckon if you need to push your wife that far your asking for drama, a divorce, or some other negative outcome. I get that some of the mrp dudes are MISERABLE in their marriages and need to reestablish a sense of self in the context of that relationship, but I think active dread is a piss poor way to do it that's just asking for trouble, especially with a high quality woman
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 06:45 PM
3

Hypothetical then: you're with your dream woman, happy and such, but you want kids. She says she wants to wait, you think that for financial or whatever reason now is the time. It's not that she doesn't want them ever, it's just that she thinks it's better to wait a while. Do you still get the final say and knock her up?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 06:40 PM
1

Agreed. Most of the dread horror stories make me shake my head though cause the recommended course of action for active dread creates insecurity in women, and that either leads to drama, a split, or some other outcome I see TRP dudes saying they wish to avoid.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 06:38 PM
2

Sure, there are plenty of RP dudes who don't want LTRs or commitment, but plenty who want that, kids, the whole 9. If you think it's a bad deal to marry cause you'd rather party and spin plates, or you're worried about divorce, no one is going to force you to do that. The question was aimed at men who want the intimacy and connection of the "US against the world" LTR. As I see it, TRP gives some pretty poor advice about the care and handling of LTRs, and doesn't reflect much on what is needed (f…
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 06:35 PM
1

So here's a question then: if you have all that going for you, why mess with trp? Sounds like you've got your shit together enough that you don't necessarily need coaching on how to be attractive to women.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 06:30 PM
2

Thanks for the input, I think TRP has LTR related material that undermines the value that women place on loyalty. Active dread, for instance, would make some women decide to bounce, if only because it makes her think the dude lacks in that department. Now, I see using dread in the sense of being your own man and showing you have enough of a sense of self that you're not dependent on her, but the idea of showing off that you could fuck other women is, I think, a poor move in an LTR
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 06:28 PM
2

Think that really depends on the girl, doesn't it? I mean, I know some who value travel and adventurous men, some want a dude who's a bit introverted, anyhow I know you're being a little facetious but I think there are different kinds of high quality women in this world with varying preferences around lifestyle and personality stuff
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 06:25 PM
5

Yeah I agree with you. Not sure why there's this insistence in TRP LTR cannon. It sounds like a trap for both partners
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:54 PM

But does she have veto power as well? I'm not seeing it. Unless you can both agree or at least come up with an agreeable compromise, then it just sounds like she'll have to shrug and let you have your way, which is definitely a recipe for resentment, especially if you make a crappy decision over her objections.

I think you suffer from needless fatalism about all LTRs sucking for men. It's just not that way all the time.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:49 PM
2

Then why so many stories of active dread gone horribly awry? Are they just doing it wrong?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:46 PM
6

Thanks for this. I wish there were more emphasis on balance in TRP for those men who want LTRs. I see a good bit of what I think is crummy advice about them and not much on teamwork
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:45 PM
5

If TRP dudes have loyalty down pat then why so much content about showing women you're willing to be disloyal? Just to balance the scales?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:41 PM
5

Agreed. The wall is a very comforting story for the angriest of them. It's got to feel nice to assume that the girl who didn't want you way back when would be desperate for you now that she's used up and you're an amazingly swole alphsdude
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:39 PM

Fair enough, I think it's not at all uncommon for people to find that person who provides that intense charge of sexual synergy that also turns out to be the person they settle down with...not all hawt guys are drummers or bikers. There's a lot of "college bf turned husband" stories out there where both partners think they got a good deal
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:36 PM
5

Thanks for the input, you make some valuable points that are related to, if not directly in answer to, the question in OP. It's also perhaps telling that "I bring the other half" is sort of your reply (if I understand your post correctly) to the question in OP. I feel like a good number of RP dudes only feel responsible (or up to the task of) creating attraction, but don't have the insight to see why they may or may not be viewed as "good men". I guess that's one of my issues with TRP and lots o…

Not all women do the CC, and since TRP advises strongly against LTRs with such women, I assume the high quality woman in question is looking for, essentially, alpha bux or some equivalent. Now if you think all women ride the CC then we really can't proceed, because in that event NO woman would be high quality per TRP requirements and you should just spin plates indefinitely
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:25 PM
2

In part. It's not just beta traits though, adventure seeking or interesting alpha hobbies and pursuits apply as well. And things that will maintain attraction, of any sort
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:19 PM
1

Interesting point.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:17 PM
3

Sure that's fair enough. But it's curious to see how beta traits can help with forming an actual partnership. I think TRP undervalues loyalty like crazy, hence the belief that active dread works in ltrs (I see mrp train wrecks with active dread way more commonly than threads that trumpet its success, and I think it's because these dudes are letting their disloyal tendencies, even if they're just a bluff, show, and that doesn't enhance attraction, it diminishes trust).
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:15 PM
8

But since we are discussing ltrs and not any other type of relationship, value in the long term will be a factor. You can be a fun, sexually attractive dude but flunk out with your dream girl without that virtue when it's time for her to decide if you're a good long term prospect
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:12 PM
1

Is loyalty one of your virtues? Do you believe that loyalty is important to high quality women?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:10 PM
9

Yup, I think many respondents will go that way or slide into describing what they require of a woman, as opposed to actually reflecting on what makes them "good men". Also I'm curious to see if any of them lists the storied male honor and loyalty as one of the virtues that would net them an awesome woman. Not yet at any rate...
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:08 PM
3

See? I know that RP is sort of split on this issue but the very existence of discussion about LTR game and mrp proves the point
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:06 PM
1

Clarification: do you believe a high quality woman would be OK with not making her own decisions from time to time? That sounds like a requirement you have, not what you bring to the table
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:04 PM
5

Thanks for the reply, I'm curious to see how many respondents include the teamwork part, and also what impressions RP men have of whether or not high quality women value loyalty (I believe they do)
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 04:00 PM
3

Would you list loyalty as one of your virtues?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 03:59 PM
1

So...confidence?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 03:47 PM
4

Oh come on, plenty of RP dudes are shooting for ltrs at some point. There's tons of material about what to look for as a man settling down
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 03:47 PM
8

Nah, I'm not sure that's the cause. I think people are delaying commitment due to cultural expectations shifting, but most end up in long term partnerships of one sort or another sooner or later. Also, before you start throwing divorce stats, I don't believe that leaving someone you're no longer happy with is in any way a sign of cultural decline. Cultural success lies in the power of individuals to make their own choices. Not everyone chooses wisely, but I think that's acceptable collateral dam…
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 03:33 PM

This. Most of the unhappy and dissolved relationships I see are where one of the two has fallen down on the helpful, intellectual or emotional fulfillment, physique notwithstanding. Just as men leave women who treat them poorly in this regard, so too do women take off when their man becomes unhelpful or isn't fulfilling those deeper needs.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/15 03:30 PM
6

Eh yeah, be a good partner. That's all you're really saying. And of course, it's not a given that if you do all these things you will end up with commitment. It's about doing those things that make you a good partner and judging someone's character as best you can to make a good selection

/r/PurplePillDebate26/08/15 07:15 PM
2

I don't buy this. Being dismissive when there's an ACTUAL problem just makes you look self centered and douchey. I am not talking about "oww I broke a nail" but "damn, my cat just got hit by a bus." Try playing that off as funny or not serious, and any person (man or woman) is going to think you're a jerk. Other commenters have had far more nuanced responses, I'll stick with those
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/15 09:10 PM
2

I don't see how this works in all situations, and sincerely hope that TRP dudes realize there's nuance there. My so, for instance, throws tantrums from time to time, as do I. But more often than not, when either of us is upset, there's a good reason, and treating those scenarios lightly or sarcastically will only brew greater trouble. I hope TRP dudes realize that telling the difference between a human thing (losing your shit and being irrational sometimes) does not negate the possibility that s…

/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/15 07:10 PM
2

Comfort test and talking about your troubles are not the same. Comfort test implies that the woman in the relationship lacks the emotional depth to care about you and just needs to be reassured. These are not good parallels. TRP does not have a name for sharing your emotional state with a woman (unless it has to do with validating her or telling her to piss off if she's being unreasonable). It sort of denies the notion that emotional intimacy is even possible in relationships. And I think that's…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/15 07:04 PM
5

See this doesn't make sense though, "comfort tests" are when a woman is seeking validation of some sort. But what about the times when the dude genuinely has an issue that he'd like his partner's input on? TRP discourages that, full stop. Sounds like a shit deal for the dude, which makes me suspect it's just another "women are crappy people" hobbyhorse from our dear TRP friends.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/15 07:00 PM
5

Every high functioning couple I know have the will and mutual respect necessary to discuss emotional issues. If you don't, there's very possibly going to be a time when that strains or breaks the bonds of intimacy. There's a reason women in unhappy marriages go to couples counseling with a lack of emotional openness being a primary complaint.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/15 06:57 PM
1

I dunno, I simply don't buy that women only want to listen; sure they do that, but also they like to advise and troubleshoot. Otherwise we wouldn't have female counselors and therapists, but surprise surprise, that's a professional area where you will find loads of women. Part of being raised as a woman (at least in a reasonably traditional home) is being told that men need you to be supportive and nurturing. That bleeds into romantic relationships all day long. Now, if you've got an emotional p…

Strong agreement here, TRP treats emotional expression like it's the death knell of attraction, but that's a loaf of poop. Sure, if your emotional bandwidth is taken up by woman resenting static and self pity, yeah, you're gonna have a bad time, but there are plenty of emotional expressions that enhance attraction, circumstances being right, because they enhance empathy and intimacy. But TRP also takes it as a given that women cannot empathize with men, as far as I can tell because women tend no…

I agree, was just discussing this the other day with a friend: as vagina-having people, we are frequently accosted by male relatives, acquaintances, and friends and expected to help "fix" emotional problems they're having. It's as though our culture, which has taught men that they're less emotional than women, has taught men to expect help from a woman when, gasp, they experience negative feelings. Because if men are so rational and devoid of feelings on an average day, when shit gets real and h…

See this I do not understand: society gives both genders "passes" on stuff that we shouldn't, and people act up as a result. Men aren't held accountable for anger a lot of the time, and so a lot of them never acquire the emotional insight and fortitude required to kill their own anger. Women similarly are given passes for certain emotional states or behaviors, and they never learn to handle that shit as a result. But generally speaking, both genders can and DO learn to own their shit if they're …

Not all sluts are "mentally ill" per se, but some are and are using sex to fill a void; in those cases it's a lot like someone with substance abuse issues. I find that the more that casual sex is normalized, the fewer sluts (of both genders) there are who are sleeping around because of a need for validation.

Yeah, sure, but it's not terribly good science, and so building a romantic philosophy around it is, imo, a pretty bad idea. TRP teaches people to see evo psych theories playing out in human behavior (let's also be honest, more often as a way of explaining female behavior), when really a lot of those processes are more likely the consequence of socioeconomic factors and cultural influences. As a result, it engenders a sort of fatalism about behavior that's not warranted and causes men to "demote"…

Deny. That's not what I meant at all as for disregarding personhood of women. Creating a series of reasons that women do not have agency (evo psych) and encouraging men to see women as adversaries/trophies/trash is what I meant by that.

But then why is TRP constantly ripping on women if the goal is to just adapt to the world "as it truly is?" Face it, lots of the TRP crowd just want a safe space to complain about the "whores" who didn't have sex with them. 3- it's funny what a lot of TRP posts say, like cringey as fuck. I think they're "misunderstood" because they're not internally consistent. And since most of that is tied up with anti-woman hogwash, the whole thing goes downhill because they're at odds with the cultural ethos. And then, as soon as someone calls them on it, all of a sudden it's not some monolithic ideology, it's just "you know, what works for me..." This "outliers" thing comes up over and over, and I am really not convinced it's true in the slightest....if anything, I think the TRPers are more likely unusual...after all, they think women are out to get them and believe that there are some inherent flaws in the female psyche that prevent women from being empathic...when in reality, social science, common wisdom, and the cultural zeitgeist supports the notion that women have MORE empathy than men, rather than less. Perhaps that was due to the way in which you expressed your emotions. If you (or anyone really, man or woman) comes off as self-pitying, unwilling to take responsibility for past mistakes, or just downright victim-y that is a turn off. This is simple for the girl, if Greg is able to hear positive things from her (and actually believe her). Greg, for his part, should trust what she says and does. Watch what they do, and all that.

Depends on the emotions we're discussing. Lots of dudes be really angry, lots of women are easily overcome by sentimentality. Generally, I see both genders experience and act out a wide array of emotions, but measuring the qualitative impact of each is hard, especially because some people are very able to bury/stuff that shit down but are still profoundly affected. Capitalism is blind, but people are not. Look at neopotism and the simple fact that 80% of hires are accomplished through personal connections. If it were just market forces.driving things it would be different, but that's just an ideal rather than reality. You're incorrect. The demographic of mam who is likely to be professionally successful, dynamic, and interesting absolutely does care that his female partner in crime has brains

Depends on the situation, a lot. There are varying degrees of promiscuity, after all. I think a lot of women end up with a string of strs that they (and their partner) never took all that seriously, never really thought, oh this is IT I want to stay in this relationship forever. There is a chance for mismatched expectations in this scenario, whereby a woman is sleeping with someone she's casually dating, hoping for more permanency....and then there are plenty of girls who want to get down and ha…

Fair enough, in that context it seems reasonable to assume some women do this. I just dispute the idea that women subconsciously do this with men they aren't sexually attracted to as well. If that were so, then bb would be a conscious strategy, a sort of "oh well I can't get one I'm interested in having sex with, better settle for one who's at least stable." I don't think you're going to find many women who settle down with someone they're wholly unattrracted to. If that were so, then trp would …

Nope. It is rather: A. It is harder for men to score (true). B. Men who score are therefore viewed as sexually fit (I.e. good prospects). You've got it bakwards.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/15 08:25 PM

Not really, because both are important. To find a satisfying reltionship, a woman will look for AB. And frankly no, I don't accept that most women are gold dkggers. Those who are might sexually torture (as you so melodramatically put it) a man they're not attracted to, but this is not the norm. The norm is a good guy who she's attracted to who's got decent stability. You know, the people who have successful relationships.

Still don't agree. Men who are physically attractive and confident and funny are attractive. Fucking lots of women is not what makes those men attractive. The sex is a byproduct of being attractive, not a cause. Also since the post is all about mate selection, what women seek for ltrs is very relevant. If you're going ti base all assertions on what women find attractive from a child bearing and rearing perspective then long term relationship potential could not be more relevant.

I take issue with 3. I do not believe that a majority of women look for a mate who has had many partners, and I don't believe this is grounded in evo psych. Rather, it's more to do with trustworthiness and the social cintract between a man and a woman in a committed relationship. Sure, women want a mate that is attractive that other women want, but in general, a man slut is not viewed as a good bet, because that indicates that this person may not remain faithful, which is not an appealing prospe…

I wasn't directing those remarks at you or your post, calm down. I was saying that women don't really care if you get laid or not, and if you do make it known that you're bitter due to a lack of pussy, you're definitely going to get zero sympathy because, generally, not getting laid is not on women's lists of horrible problems. I think affirmative action in tech is a bunch of junk, but that programs that work to encourage women to pursue a career in it are generally a-ok, because it helps mine talent that might not otherwise be in the overall pool. This is not to say full rides for all female cs degree candidates, but just opportunities for exposure to the industry to motivate talented women to pursue it. And if this study came out? Well, let the market dictate the outcome, no quotas either way.

Generally I think it's pretty dog eat dog and no one should expect empathy, if only to avoid being disappointed and hurt. I take issue with rp tactics because if you want a stable relationship (assuming that's what you're going for), you work to erode that empathy barrier from both ends, in which case things like dread work against the gradual flow of loving actions that make true intimacy and trust possible. A lot of rp stuff comes across as very short sighted and juvenile. Now if all you want …

Some are obvious, like active dread. I didn't have a term for it, of course, but yeah a player is a player ans the whole not that into you/has other girls in the wings thing is obvious. Amused mastery....check I recognize that, as well as A&A. I think trp thinks it's got some cool techniques that are super covert, but many of them come off as exactly what they are, especially if the practitioner is doing work to create a certain set of responses.

Outside of venues where it's standard operating procedure, iois really vary depending on the dude. Touch or compliments are obvious. Asking if I'm single is obvious. However, most in the wild approaches are a little tough to discern, and I assume a dude is just being friendly if he initiates conversation. I hear this a lot, and I do see it sometimes....the old hen pecked husband routine. Well that's not because all women are awful or because egalitarian relationships don't work...It's because of crappy boundaries. So you're saying that men are only nice in order to get sex, not because they value kindness? That's a load of crap and very antimale. There are plenty of men, probably billions of men, who are nice because it's a good way to be in the world. If the only reason a man is nice is in an effort to get laid, he's got a lot more issues than being without sex, and those issues are likely to inhibit sexual success.

It's not that the actual nice guy, who is nice because it's the right way to be toward people, is demonized. It's that guy who, when you tell him that you're not interested, calls you a cunt and is all bitter and pissed. You guys never address problematic male behaviors (mostly hedonism), you side step and say who cares, I don't want to sleep with men. But if you're a sub about helping men get laid, those behaviors ought to be discussed. Just in this thread alone at least 3 of yall have said "who cares about male sluts, we're not talking about men" and ppd is full of such handwaving anytime a male issue comes up.

I dunno, living as a frontier wife in the middle of nothing, scratching out a meager subsistence life from the soil and seeing your kids die of cholera sounds prety crappy. And that's just as recently as the 19th century. If you take the long view, women are far happier and more fulfilled now than in millenia. Sure there are some new challenges, but weighing them is far less shitty than dealing with the crap people used to have to survive through
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/15 09:53 PM
2

I suspect not...except to the extent that we live in cynical societies and have left behind some of that "accept your lot in life" ethos that people were expected to have for much of human history. I don't think it's bad that people are cynical or challenge their station, nor do I think women are fundamentally more bitter than in the past. A lot of them hear this all through young adulthood. My dad, then friends and such all said to beware of manwhores. There was one guy I knew in college with that reputation, and he could only sleep with women outside our social loop because he was well known to be a turboslut with emotional issues. Now he's a used up turboslut lawyer who makes boatloads of cash but can't get laid because he got fat and never thought it would happen to him. Men hit the wall too.

This is simple in my opinion and social circle. Dude hits on you, either clumsily or suavely, that's ok as long as the setting is appropriate (ie not at work). If she sends a clear I'm not into it signal and he persists, then it's harassment (vice versa applies too, some women are just as bad at not taking a no and are thus harassers). Just flirting with a woman (even if youre no good at it or aren't hot) is not harassment. Obvious caveat, if you come off like buffalo bill when you hit on women,…

I'd explain that it's a crime, a blow toward justice for anyone who's been assaulted, and that such an action is completely lacking in integrity and that I'm deeply worried about her brain. Did you honestly expect bp posters to be like nah it's no big deal?

Unique? Not really. Central to? Sure, self improvement and not being a doormat are central to trp and those are healthy. My issue comes in when it comes to other central ideas of the sub, largely their notions about how women "truly are", oh and I think dread game is usually cruel because it's done to break down your partner's self esteem (rather than actually become a cooler, sexier person to be with). So it's a no and a yes for me.

Good for you. I am not sure if op was just trying to define the cc or would add the "and this woman's a filthy used up whore" addendum. I do see plenty of non RP posters point out that their strategies are assholish, which they are. Very few posters go on a bender of value judgement glee, although some do point out their moral qualms with trp. But I agree, PPD is not to be taken seriously. Strong agreement with this. The trp picture of a good life, for men and women, looks dull as ditchwater to me. Gotta quibble with your first.point about women not caring about intellectual issues. Lots of them care, and being smart is one element of being sexy for MANY women. And before you cite the MIT dudes are all virgins study...don't. Social awkwardness, lack of a dating pool, and obsession with their work (not that any of this is bad) has a lot more to do with making smart virgins than the smarts themselves. I don't try to stifle trp, and I don't see bpers trying to do so much either. Because it looks boring, and the men who are into that lifestyle are boring as well. For instance, trp dudes advocate against dating women who travel. I love traveling (not in the sexual tourist way or the "finding myself" way but the rewarding, go see shit that's interesting way). A relationship with a dude who expects submission, all chores done, no travel (or even girls night ffs!) Sounds dull. Besides that, I've been around enough kids and families to know that I'd be barking up the wrong tr…

Being strict is a quick way to get dumped for being too controlling, even RP preaches this with oi and such. If the dude wants to set standards for what kind of behavior he's OK with that's fine, but controlling her social life and threatening to leave in the event she does something he.doesn't like (girls night, for instance) that just telegraphs disrespect, mistrust, insecurity, and a waah baby attitude. Bad advice.

That's totally absurd and one dimensional, there are plenty of situations in which a woman is very sexually attracted to a man, wants to jump his bones all the time, but isn't truly bonded to the dude. Women can be as voracious as men in the bedroom, and although sexual attraction is one component that leads to bonding, it is but one of many factors. This here is a good example of poor RP logic. You want women who are very sexually attracted to you and you don't want a woman with sexual experien…

Lots of problems with this but I don't have all night to psychoanalyze this mess, but one thing really is glaring.at me: The whole "you'll make someone very happy someday (just not me)"... Sounds like you're taking soft rejection from girls and literally hoping to get real actionable advice. That's not a good idea. Very few women rejecting a man will say "yeah try dressing better and lay off the crazy self pity, wouldya?" If you need advice on succeeding with women, you should be looking to frie…

I think some of them fear this, whether consciously or not. But mostly I think it's about thinking that women who take advantage of the wins of feminism are inferior beings. There's a lot of butthurt in TRP, and one part of that is hating on people who have the option to do something that you cannot, in this case, getting laid.

She is insecure if she uses sex for validation. The bp point here is a little more nuanced than "women who like to fuck are messed up and insecure". It's more like " women who seek validation in sex are likely insecure, and likely to fall for TRP tactics that exploit insecurity. " Example: have a female friend who loves sex because it's fun, totally OK with herself. Boy runs the hot and cold (dread) on her, she laughs in his face and tells him to get da fuck out. TRP teaches men to use tactics t…

I can speak to a lot of these issues, they're real and can deflate women's opportunities. I will not go through them all, but will stick with the career issue: RP dudes who think that workplace discrimination is not a thing are clueless. I've seen dozens of women passed over exclusively because of the perception that women are either too emotional or too bitchy. The old boys club exists, and they take care of their own. Sure there are, all the truly happy married people I know are equals insofar as each one's wishes and self regard is vitally important. The ones who are miserable? Yeah that would be the imbalanced relationships with either a hen pecked husband or a cowed, fearful wife. Now truly equal relationships may not be terribly common, but they exist and ime these spouses are infinitely happier than those who play power games. But yeah trp will never acknowledge this, perhaps because they've never seen t…

I don't buy that. It's never as simple as all that, after all, a relationship has many more moving parts than a sea voyage. It is as though you folks don't understand that teamwork is an actual thing and you don't need a boss person to get shit done. Furthermore, creating a boss position just sets up a power imbalance that, over time, will erode the woman's self-respect, which in turn will damage the relationship. I know a lot of women who are good at tons of stuff. Everybody is good at something in life. Even in instances where a woman is sheltered and such, she is likely to have something to contribute. Leadership is not just grand visioning and whatnot, it's a thousand day to day decisions, and if you're not willing to abdicate some of that responsibility because you fear hypergamy or think your woman will become a screeching nag, then it,s really time to look at other areas to build the attraction. My parents have the captain / first mate dynamic and because the old man is not very good at making some decisions, it's occasionally a bloody trainwreck. Over the years my mom has taken more charge of the stuff she is good at (finances, health care decisions, etc and so on) and their lives and relationship has improved because their overall wellness as a unit has improved. If you never stray from the patriarch/family leader paradigm you're setting yourself up to miss out on the things your part…
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/15 08:41 PM

But the captain / first mate dynamic itself is not healthy. Sure, the dude should be able to be dominating and masculine, and the woman should feel free to be submissive and feminine, but sometimes the whole "I'm in charge, 100% of the time" thing is really illogical. For a group that treasures utility and rationality (ostensibly), TRP does not seem to realize that women are good at things and can, and should, sometimes be steering the ship.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/15 08:37 PM
1

That sounds awful. That's why I think a lot of these RP dudes hunting unicorns (different from those who are in marriages that need some help because she treats him like a doormat) are out to lunch. If they really got what they say they want, it would probably suck for them. Better to find a passionate woman who loves the shit out of you but has her own strengths to bring good stuff to the table, both in terms of emotional connection and rational decisionmaking.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/15 08:35 PM
2

But why push back 100% with "I want a submissive woman who will treat me as captain and let me have final say always" instead of "I want a woman with good boundaries who is respectful and won't try to dominate me"? There is middle ground between those two positions, but I don't see RP acknowledging that.

Nah, not really. Most women want someone who is their equal. Women get insecure too, you know, and the fear of a philandering superman is a real thing. When running around having casual sex, sure, women will shoot for the most attractive guy they can possibly find. But when looking to LTR? Best to find someone who's going to love you for you, is your intellectual equal, and actually respects you
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/15 08:30 PM

But what about instances when, for example, your woman knows the ins and outs of something that you have no clue about? Do you still want the final say in that case? I believe that kind of thinking is really short-sighted. Sure, I think we can all agree that domineering, bossy women who degrade their partners are super lame and no one wants that. But what happens when it's tax season and your lady worked at H&R Block for a few years and really knows how to maximize your return or minimize your t…

I agree with this. There are times when being submissive, sweet, and genuinely letting my man lead me is great for the both of us. But all the time? No way, that would be stupid and we'd both hate it. Not everything has to be a battle of wills, sure, but sometimes it's cool when a woman can take charge of kicking butt for the family unit.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/15 08:24 PM

This does make sense in cases where the woman ALWAYS call the shots, and I don't think that the henpecked husband motif is healthy. However, I think that going all the way to the other end of the spectrum is foolish, especially if you want to LTR someone who is smart and loves themselves. Really, balanced relationships might not exist, but why keep score as long as each partner contributes leadership and expertise in the areas they're specialized in? Very well stated. I think a lot of RP relationships are actually harmful to those in them, both the man and the woman. The kind of blind leadership thing is a setup for failure, because it makes sense for the person with the most experience on a certain subject to have the final call when there is a disagreement in the household. For example, dude knows a lot about cars and should probably pick the mechanic. But the lady, she knows a buttload about the tax code, why wouldn't it be worth it to le…

Yeah if she has tested negative then you should be safe. Scary as hell though. I had a friend go through something like the same thing: hooked up with a girl, had unprotected sex a couple times, then she drops the bomb on him that she'd slept with someone who was HIV positive. Well then I applaud you for your intellectual honesty. I think that unconditional love is really not a thing in the romantic world, typically; if you love someone unconditionally who is not your child or dependent, then you're not very healthy. Yeah this it is just not true that women run for the hills when their men experience hardship. If that were true, then the 2008 collapse of the economy, which impacted men more than women in terms of layoffs and the like, would have caused a spike in divorce rates commensurate with said layoffs. But that didn't happen, the divorce rate in fact has been steadily declining for 30 years and counting. Even more interesting to me is the fact that many divorces (66% or so) are initiated by women, so w…

Solipsism, IMO, is the notion that your thoughts define the world. A mindset that says, "When I die, the world ends, or might end because my mind might be the only thing that truly exists." It's definitely something that is demonstrated by narcissists. Often, I find that when TRP calls women "solipsistic" what they really mean is "selfish" or "emotional". There was a post here yesterday that cited a number of things in the sidebar, attached to a basic "Is this RP?." and there was much denial of a lot of the content being misgynistic, even though it clearly is and was. Not really, TRP "theory" is full of subjective value judgements, and most of them trend towards a very negative view of women. Girl got mad at you because you didn't do something she asked? If that's really the case, then fine that's all well and good and how one SHOULD treat people. I don't feel threatened at all. I was simply stating what I believed based on what you wrote. Health insurance (and the insurance industry generally) has a set of business principles to manage risk. Your comment threw some of those things out the window, and that led me to believe you actually DIDN'T understand how it all works.

Healthcare for citizens SHOULD be one of the most expensive things in the budget. After all, what good is a nationstate if people are not benefitting from the social contract and paying taxes by receiving services they need to live productive lives? I will never understand this whine. I get it, people who are not responsible with their bodies absolutely should be encouraged, nay obliged, to participate in things that will make them a less risky bet, but to say eff em let em die...well that's no …

You don't understand how health insurance works. Of course, I think that an obese adult, or someone with another issue that seriously compromises their health (i.e. smoking etc.), should be obliged to participate in mitigating activties. But an insurance pool works by taking on all sorts of bets. If we excluded fat people from health insurance pools they would end up getting care anyway (and the most expensive care at that), and then would not be able to pay, and then that burden again reverts t…

The women you talked to were being honest, I am sure. The idea that girls don't know what they want is, I think, just a consequence of RP men being exposed to women who either don't know themselves very well (i.e. not big on critical thinking and reflection) or just don't care about their negative impact on other people.

I posted a similar sentiment about a week ago. Basically, the responses I got were that RP men are not interested in women like me (and all the women I know) because we don't like being treated like children. I think one of the most serious limitations of TRP is that it focuses on a very particular demographic of women, which seems like a bad idea if you're trying to increase the number of women who might potentially date or sleep with you. But basically, the answer seemed to go something like t…

When someone does not see you as a person, but instead as a representative of an aggreived minority. Most functional people don't thrive on feeling like a victim. They suck it up if they're treated unfairly, and cope. Women and men. 2) Attractiveness: OK, yeah. Same applies to white men. This is not specific to whi…

You're using a small subset of women and generalizing it to all women. I used to live in a house full of the sorts of feminists you're complaining about and yeah, it got annoying real fast. But most women aren't running around bitching about being oppressed. Most women are working hard to do the best they can with what they have. Dude, very few men serve time for not paying CS. Also, it is not just violent drunks who commit DV, you're insane and myopic if you think that people get married and know for sure that it won't go south. The argument about marraige always being to a woman's advantage DOES assume that men are not flawed. Apparently they never cheat, never run up debts, never act violently, and always make their wife's life super-easy. It is just not true.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/15 07:11 PM

You are simply wrong. What if you get a CS award and he doesn't pay? What if he beats the shit out of you and you die? What if he runs up credit card debt and you end up stuck with it? Your entire argument presumes that men are perfect, and that they also ALWAYS make more money and are more prudent financially than the woman. Which is not even true in a majority of cases.

Have to quibble with that "marriage is always advantageous for women." That is so ignorant I don't know what to do. There are crappy husbands all over the place, but of course you would not be inclined to believe that if you believe that men are just such perfect creatures due to some silly so-called science. I bet you're one of those people who does not believe in domestic violence.

Yep, this right here. I would definitely say that being taken seriously is a lot more helpful than some reduced-cost BC from Planned Parenthood, or the option to get lots of cringy matches on Tinder. But hey, that's just me.

Well of course not...but I see no reason to believe that I'm not a rational person...and that is a lot of what's at the core of trp. I, like everyone, have my irrational moments but I'm committed to recognizing them and overcoming them with the he help of those who would give me meaningful feedback and the benefit of the doubt. Basically, trp offers nothing to me except an alarming reminder that some folks be way shallow and self centered.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/15 05:21 PM

No apology necessary! My main point is that, on the whole, TRP includes some things that are (to me) repugnant enough that the good stuff is not worth the price. That is, of course, assuming you buy into the philosophy wholesale.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/15 05:01 PM
1

Nah I disagree. The terminology is not the problem, it's the idea that women are inherently inferior to men and not rational that gets bees in my bonnet. People are not rational, generally. It is on each and every person to work towards being as rational as possible. It is hardest to accomplish this within the dating scene, true, but making up a bunch of stuff about women's inherent inferiority is not an answer. Other TRP stuff is fine...like the read, self-improve, be self-reliant. But when it …

I like em competent and confident enough that they don't feel threatened by women.

Well that's refreshing...but what about all the RP "philosophies" that point outward at women? Is it not good enough to work on yourself, without bothering to construct a hateful ideology that depersonalizes women?

If you have to buy into a hateful worldview that presupposes your superiority to others in order to be confident enough to be attractive, you need to get back to basics: get some cool hobbies, meet new and interesting people, and restore your broken faith in the positive traits of human beings.

My problem is with the hate in trp, and how even the basic good advice is not really the point. Half or more of trp is about shitting on women and blaming them for the so called decline of civilization...which is poppycock. Some bits of trp aren't horrible and dead wrong, but the whole scene is deeply toxic and you can find the good stuff elsewhere. My issue is all of trp becomes a worldview, and part of that worldview presupposes that women are awful.

Those examples are clearly not shit tests, they're just common courtesy...if I had a situation like this and the guy reacted that way, I would think the dude was possibly a self-centered asshole. Usually if a woman asks for a walk someplace, it's for safety reasons, not because she's just trying to get you to comply. Nah, this whole thing about partner count lying no doubt happens, but it is not this THING that all women do. I really thing Aaronson got a very distorted vision of what the "mainstream" was telling him, because he was neurotic about it, and then sought confirmation of his horrific impression. I agree a strong male figure may have helped, but also looking at his own terror and seeing it as irrational, like batshit crazy irrational, would have helped. Which is what he eventually did, which in turn eventually helped him get out of it. I have a hard time believing that if Aaronson had joined TRP he would h…

That is 100% absurd. If pursuing sex makes you a BETTER PERSON than other people, then we should start taking into account things that women have to do or are able to do that men do not do and making that the basis for the claim that WOMEN are better than men. Which would be 100% retarded.

I've seen men laugh at dateless men just as much as women. Fair enough. I ask because it's one of those things I have never had a problem with (as far as boyfriends having an issue with my traveling) but that's probably because of the context around the traveling; it's pretty obvious that in my case it's not about sex. I just didn't know if wanderlust or thirst for adventure were inherently red flags, from a TRP perspective.

I honestly think feminism and MRA both have some good points, but I honestly don't see a lot of those points being raised here. When people are thinking and talking almost exclusively about what they want in sex and relationships, it turns very personal very quickly, and melts away common ground on issues that most people would at least think they agree on. I guess that's sort of what makes it interesting....when you have to look at the most personal things in your life and see if your superego/…

Agree. Feminism is not a sexual or dating strategy. It has an impact on people's sex lives because it influences expectations of behavior, but that is not even close to making it something that explicitly and exclusively addresses sexual/dating strategies. Nice thought put into your response, but I have one question: why does traveling necessarily imply a sexual tourist? For instance, I have a hobby that causes me to travel a lot. Is the basic assumption that a woman who travels (alone no less) is just a sex tourist? Serious question.

I think the one benefit is that I am realizing that TRP men decided to go TRP due to some really frustrating/depressing experiences, rather than just being inherently exploitative. This does not change the fact that the exploitation advocated by TRP still sits very poorly with me.

Preach it! It's nice to see someone on here explaining this in a cool and rational way. I think it likely you will shortly hear back about all the terrible things that men face in society, in an effort to make it into a pissing contest of who has it worse. First part about how women are raised: how do you know how women are raised? Are you a woman? Have you raised daughters and taught them that men are pigs? Aaronson basically got told he was being an ass for forgetting that women were people because he was afraid of them. Well, that was about HIS fear, not the reality, which is that he needed to put himself out there. Also for thinking that because he was irrationally af…

I dunno about this. Sharing things, both good and bad, promotes intimacy. You know the person better, and can relate better because....hey we all got shit to deal with. I think the idea that women just don't want to hear it from their partners when they feel like crap is weird. I can't tell you how many massages and cathartic let-it-out moments I've had with my SO, and it makes me respect and appreciate his successes all the more. I see him as a badass, because he triumphs over the thinggs that …

This is just....not true. All relationships are BUILT on the notion that such feelings should be shared, and coped with, and it sounds like you picked women who were unkind and self-centered...and not the norm. Good relationships have lots of sharing like this, both positive and negative. Had a shitty day at work? Let that shit out, here have a beer, let me give you a massage. Got an exciting thing to talk about, fantastic, go nuts and I will celebrate with you. This is the basic definition of h…

That is baloney, sorry. If a woman cares about you and you're having a rough go of it, they step up. And not just for their kids. But yes, some degree of intimacy between parties is necessary for that to work. However, the same applies to men. You don't see a lot of guys running around trying to be a shoulder for strange women to cry on.

But as a consequence of "women are irrational" (which is sometimes true, no question), both men and women have an easy escape route from having to feel any empathy anytime they like. And TRP members avail themselves of that escape route all the time. To then maintain that they aren't getting the empathy they so JUSTLY DESERVE is beyond silly. If you want to forego empathy have at it, but don't expect any in return, especially when you've got to make yourself feel better by framing yourself as in…

How absurd is that? Women don't look at men and think they're just defective women; women are taught that men are fundamentally different and should thus "get away with" more...boys will be boys. If anything, it's the other way around...men are taught that women are like men except for rationality and accountability.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/02/15 08:11 PM

Nice try. Women are raised to view certain men as pigs, when those men treat them poorly. Generally, however, that message is nuanced with a lot of self-criticism. Oh, your husband left you? Must have been something you done wrong. You cried when your team lost a game? Weakling, you have irrational feelings. Women are taught to regard men's emotional experiences as more valid than their own, because of the notion that women are too murcurial to have legitimate emotional responses to things. Men …

I think women understand why men are bothered by promiscuous women, but don't believe it's a fair standard (especially when uttered by a dude who would never hold himself to the same standard). Hypocrisy inhibits empathy. Also, you're missing the fact that women frequently DO feel sympathy and empathy for men who aren't getting what they need sexually; most people have dry spells, and genuinely do feel badly for those who are going without, for whatever reason. Unless that person makes it clear …

If you are going to argue that women lack empathy and then ignore the very clear societal evidence that they have loads of it (#s in social work, #s involved in other caregiving professions that require empathy), then you're not being intellectually honest. And as for "ulterior motives" I can tell you from personal experience (6 years working in social services) that there is NO WAY that the social validation that comes from this sort of work outweighs the cost, in terms of rate of pay, expertis…

No it really is deep-seated. That means ingrained and deepy rooted. Deep-seeded is also an acceptable metaphor, but not the most common usage and not what I meant. As for the snowflake thing, I rarely say it. It was an obvious reference to an oft-trotted out piece of TRP lingo. Anyway I think we can just agree to disagree on this one.

This is interesting, and I would think pretty likely true...and also a very good argument for waiting to have kids (if you want them at all). Gives you a chance to get steady in a career. If you're out when everyone else is running around hungry and lean, you're missing out. Another aspect of this is getting in on mentorship opportunities. Yes see though, when women do nice things for the men in their lives it's totally RP. Just like when dudes are awful manipulative dunces, that's also RP. No wonder so many dudes get suckered into RP nonsense....if I were embittered by past rejection, I might think a "philosophy" that gives me a pass to be a dick (and actively encourages it, cause you know it works!) and tells me that women should fawn over me all the time...yeah I might bite.

I was such an RPW this morning...the man was storming around and stressing out this morning about a contractor at the house, and I made him a breakfast sandwich and difused his angst by telling him to tell me what I could do to help. The core of "just be yourself" is about self-confidence, which is admittedly very sexy. If you spend all your time tying yourself in knots trying to be what you think other people want, or spend all your time hating yourself for whatever reason, you just come across as 1) fake (TRP) or 2) an insecure mess (also a lot of TRP). Oh and I call bs on your interpretation of dread within the trp community. It is explicitly intended to tell your partner that you could just walk and be none the worse off. Good for you that you don't use it that way, but yeah within the context of trp content that's exactly what it is, and in my mind it has no place in most relationships

Also Tim Leary had a great way of expressing what I'm talking about: set and setting. Your mindset and your environment determine your outcomes (in his case of course he was talking about LSD). TRP dudes might act nice in a certain environment, but the mindset is garbage and most women are smart enough to catch on.

No shaming here, and I never even remotely implied I don't spoil my SO to make him happy and he's the only one doing the spoiling. I just think that approaching women like they don't have clear thoughts and throwing a bunch of contempt uous shit at them is a good way to get and stay happy. That doesn't mean you just placate away and think that will work either, but the so called rules of Trp are a set up.

Exactly. Of course this all presumes that the couple is approaching such issues rationally. Egalitarian power dynamics are inherently pragmatic, because they take the meaningless power struggles out of it, and it becomes purely a set of choices decided based on mutual self interest, tinged with an awareness of who is the most impacted by those decisions.

I think that is my biggest problem with it. Rejection effects everyone. The constant refrain of bitterness about women having all these great choices between men is absurd. I think their problem is they never got past that one really hot cheerleader who rejected them way back when....and in many cases I don't think they ever really tried to get with her, or get to know her. Strong agreement. It's a balancing act. Me personally I don't like being fawned over, but I DO VERY MUCH LIKE being treated kindly. I did not imply that an unhappy dude won't dump someone he's seeing. That would just be silly. As for the parenting thing in TRP context: it is not just about encouraging behaviors you like and discouraging the ones you don't. But what, praytell, happens when you dismiss her feelings, she gets angry with you, and you still…

That's not true at all; awareness of cognitive bias absolutely does help correct for it. Not entirely, but a lot. This is where I have to disagree. In the same way that TRP says that men shouldn't be whipped by their SOs, women should not be whipped by their men. As for final decisions, it's usually a winning strategy to let the decision rest with the person who is the most affected by it. Also, the entire dynamic of "final decision rests with X party" is a set-up for stupid power-struggles. Taking each important choice as it comes and assigning opinions relative weight really does work.

See this is the thing: we AREN'T rare. We are all over the place. As for being a lot of work (either myself or the women I know...) not really. And as for age and not trying to "manufacture attraction" nothing could be further from the truth. Back in the ole days there were plenty of dudes who did all sorts of game/,TRP type things, and it simple didn't work outside maybe scoring a ONS or two.

TRP thrives on this revenge fantasy. It tickles me pink that it's not even slightly true. People don't look back on their lives and think "Oh, if only I had been attracted to that guy that I was not attracted to when I was a young and fertile flower-woman-thing." Attraction, and the memory of attraction, simply does not work that way. But they sure do like how it feels.

I have not encountered this trope you speak of. Mostly, when BP talks about naive (i.e. sexually inexperienced) women, it's about how TRP either loathes and ignores these women (because too ugly) or tries to control them in the latter-day phases of being a pro-marriage RP dude (marry a woman who doesn't have any experience cause she's pure and will be faithful and submissive). Usually, TRP is pretty blunt about using promiscuous women for their own ends, and BP acknowledges this.

There's nothing wrong with that particular stance. The part that's troubling is the implication that accepting yourself, and coming to terms with the fact that you might never be the best (fame, glory, a HB9, whatever) causes suicide and that this is somehow women's fault. IMO, coming to terms with that is growing up, nothing more. Also, the whine about women's inflated sense of self-worth is just bogus; maybe through the lens of Tinder he's getting the wrong ideas, but most people I know (both …
